Chapter 5
After experiencing the dungeons on Earth—in Japan—I, the so-called Black Knight, finally returned to my homeworld, the otherworld.
“Fweeeeh~ I’m exhausted…”
I let out a long sigh.
Well, for a socially awkward guy like me, that was a pretty good experience!
Totally worth it. I’m satisfied!
I tossed my jet-black full-plate armor into the royal treasury of my home palace.
Yeah… I might have borrowed it without permission.
Anyway, time to return it.
“Master!”
A beautiful yet slightly thorny voice called out to me.
“Oh, Head Maid.”
“‘Oh, Head Maid’? That’s all you have to say?!”
“Where on earth have you been wandering off to?!”
She sounded furious.
“Ran away from home?”
My old man—the king—keeps trying to make me the next ruler.
No way in hell.
So yeah, I ran away from home!
“Ran away… for like, what, an hour?”
“It still counts as running away!”
I, Chronokishi, declared with a straight face.
“Pfft! Haha!”
The head maid chuckled. “Master, His Majesty requests your presence.
Let’s go together.”
“Nope!”
“Don’t you ‘nope’ me!”
“Too late, nope~!”
I dashed off, losing the head maid in seconds.
Elsewhere – The Central Kingdom
In the office of the king, conqueror of the world through sheer might—
My father.
“So, he’s escaped again…”
The mighty king, my dad—beloved by gods, unmatched in strength and magic, yet deeply family-oriented—sighed heavily.
“My apologies, sire,” said the head maid.
“Every time, the young master runs off immediately.
He always manages to slip away…”
“It can’t be helped… That fool of a son has long surpassed me in power.
I wish to make him king soon, but his heart remains that of a boy.
Even when I try to educate him in ruling, he just sneaks into the treasury and plays with the divine artifacts like toys…”
“He was in the treasury again today, Your Majesty.”
“Even the strictest security can’t stop him…
Not even a thousand elite knights could keep him out.
That place contains relics borrowed from the gods—armor that kills on touch, sealed magic tools…
A normal person couldn’t even touch them and live.”
“As expected of the prince, sire.”
“…Was that supposed to be a compliment?”
Their exchange lacked any real royal dignity.
The king might be a legend to the world, but within the family, he was far too lenient.
Now, as for me—the son of that great king…
I’m a hopeless prince with zero magical power.
Naturally, everyone mocks me.
I’m weak, bratty, and proud of it!
That’s why I want my little sister to be the next ruler—well, queen, actually.
Unlike me, she’s a total genius—skilled in magic, blessed by everyone, a prodigy in every way.
Still, this “useless prince” somehow ends up defeating villains wherever he goes—
so in this world, a few select people actually know that the “Black Knight” is me, the prince.
I’ve never once lost a fight or battle in my life—everything’s been easy.
Even in mock duels, my father, the king, always uses cheap tricks—magic, items, traps, strategy—but I still win with just my bare hands.
Sometimes it’s annoying, but still, I always win.
Even so, I’m not stupid.
By this age, I’ve figured it out.
All those “victories”? They’re just to make me feel good.
The king keeps summoning private tutors to “train me for the throne,”
probably trying to motivate me.
(For the record, even if the king fought seriously, he wouldn’t be able to land a single hit on his son.)
(The protagonist still believes he’s the weakest because of his “zero magic power.”)
The King—my dad—is said to be the strongest being in existence, undefeated across not only this world but even in the divine and underworld realms… and possibly the universe itself.
I’m not sure if that’s true, but honestly, he probably just has a bad case of “chūnibyō” (delusions of grandeur).
Still, there’s no way someone like me with zero magic could actually beat him.
He must be letting me win on purpose.
That’s why everyone around us just goes along with it, pretending I’m amazing.
The royal family is famous for spoiling its children.
If anyone even slightly harms me, their life is basically over.
I’ve seen it happen more than once.
So yeah, growing up like that, I turned out a bit twisted.
But hey, that’s my excuse!
From now on, I’ll ditch those boring “king training” lessons, skip all my studies, and go explore all sorts of worlds.
Especially Japan—the place where nobody knows who I am!
That’s where I’ll have my fun!
This is merely the prologue—
to a tale that will shake the entire world,
no… the entire universe.
