Chapter 4
“Waaahhh!!”
The saint began to cry loudly when she realized her best friend, the magical girl, was on the verge of death and wouldn’t make it.
(Don’t cry…)
(I’m just glad you’re safe, Saint…)
(That alone is a miracle…)
(My daughter… the medical team and rescue squad are on their way. I’m sorry we’re late…)
(My dear granddaughter! Please, hold on just a little longer! I beg you, please don’t die!!)
Then, the Black Knight—who had just defeated the demon—approached the weeping saint, the clank, clank of his full-plate armor echoing with each step.
From out of thin air, he pulled a bottle containing a shimmering, rainbow-colored liquid—like liquid aurora.
He splashed it over the magical girl, and then, unsure if the saint was injured too, sprinkled some on her as well.
At the same time, he covered the magical girl with his cloak.
Then—just like time rewinding—her burns began to heal at a visible speed, her charred hair regrew, and her beautiful face reappeared.
The Black Knight must have covered her with his cloak first because her clothes had been burned away.
Now, the magical girl was breathing peacefully, her chest rising and falling in steady rhythm as if she were merely sleeping.
“Eh?!”
The saint was stunned.
Once again, the Black Knight had performed a miracle—her dearest friend’s body had been completely restored!
“No way… no way… Waaah! Thank goodness!”
The saint burst into tears again, this time from sheer relief.
The Black Knight glanced around.
Sensing two more faint presences—her party members, the Tank and the Hero—he sprinkled the same rainbow liquid over them as well.
The magical girl stirred from her slumber, awakened by the saint’s sobbing.
“Mm… huh? Did I die? Is this heaven?”
“Ah, you’re awake! We’re saved! We’re really saved!”
The saint hugged the magical girl tightly.
(So pure!)
(I can’t stop sweating from my eyes!)
(Is this a movie or something? A setup?)
(What was that rainbow potion thing?)
(Was it a legendary Elixir?!)
(My daughter, the medical and rescue teams will arrive soon! For now, thank goodness!)
(My granddaughter… she’s alive! It’s a miracle! A miracle!!)
Looks like they’ll be fine now,
I, the Black Knight, thought to myself.
To be honest, if this was actually some kind of stage performance and I ended up ruining it, that’d be bad…
So, heart pounding, I sprinkled the Elixir carefully.
The thug was unfortunate, but honestly, that guy was trash anyway.
Maybe the whole party fell into some kind of trap?
Seriously, they need to be more careful… geez.
Anyway—
“Well done,”
I said just that one line, then used my teleportation stone and went home.
“Uh… where am I?”
The Hero and the Tank woke up at the same time.
“Oh—we forgot to thank him…”
The saint and magical girl suddenly remembered the Black Knight’s final words—
“You did well.”
They realized they hadn’t even thanked him yet.
The saint quickly tried to approach, but before she could—
The Black Knight vanished in a flash of teleportation light.
That calm, reassuring voice echoed in her heart, making it beat faster.
“Was that a dream? I was sure my body was torn apart and I died,” muttered the Tank.
“I think we were all supposed to be wiped out… an irregular demon appeared out of nowhere.
But just before I was attacked, the Black Knight came and saved us!”
The saint explained to her party members.
“‘The Black Knight?!’” they all exclaimed.
“I—I don’t even know how to explain it properly… ah, wait! The drone! It should have recorded everything!”
That’s when they finally remembered the drone’s existence.
“Uwaaah?!”
The live broadcast had over 10 million concurrent viewers,
and the comments were streaming by like a waterfall.
“Um, everyone—sorry for worrying you! We’re all safe now!”
With tear-streaked cheeks but a bright, beaming smile,
the saint spoke directly to the drone camera.
At that moment, the rescue and medical teams finally arrived.
“Are you… okay?”
The rescuers were none other than the No.2 ranked American Guild exploration team.
They were actually a team of students the same age as the No.1-ranked Hero Party.
“Ah…”
Only—the Hero still had a rather… obvious wet patch left behind.
