Chapter 33
That I’ve Been Deeply Shaken
Do-hyun crossed his legs.
It was as if he were telling her to keep going.
“I asked, didn’t I?”
“Strange… why would that be bad news for you, Yu Lee Yeon?”
He looked almost amused.
Ah, he’s happy because I’m jealous, isn’t he?
Without thinking, she blurted out her jealousy over Heera.
Do-hyun rose from his chair and walked toward her with calm, deliberate steps.
Then he sat down right beside her, pressing his body close with a wide, dazzling grin.
It was far too close.
Glancing through the glass doors in case anyone was coming, Lee Yeon tried to inch away from him, straining her body to put some distance between them.
But when she tried to stand, Do-hyun grabbed her waist and pulled her firmly back down next to him.
“Of course it wasn’t my idea.”
He spoke lightly, as if wondering why she would even ask something so obvious.
“Even if it had been, I’d have no feelings about it.”
Before his words were even finished, his face began moving closer.
Unstoppable, steadily closing the gap, he pushed forward until Lee Yeon leaned back in retreat—until her back hit the sofa.
It looked as though he were hovering over her, pinning her down.
Anyone passing by would immediately misunderstand.
No, this is something people do at home, not at work… Actually, no, even at home, this wouldn’t be okay!
“Someone might see and get the wrong idea.”
Looking up at him, she placed her hands on his chest and pushed.
But Do-hyun didn’t budge an inch.
“So… you still have no intention of being shaken?”
His eyes, fixed on her, were full of expectation.
Lee Yeon had no plans to drag things out anymore.
Do-hyun had told her—if she was shaken, she should move forward.
And she was ready to start this relationship.
She would explain her disguise to him step by step.
Surely, he would understand.
“You already know.
That I’ve been shaken completely.”
Do-hyun, who hadn’t moved at all, suddenly straightened up in surprise and looked down at her.
His pupils trembled.
Perhaps he had only been testing her.
He hadn’t expected her to move forward so quickly.
Rising fully from the sofa, he picked up the remote control and pressed a button.
Beep—
The glass walls of his office turned opaque.
Now, no one outside could see in.
They were locked inside together…
Lee Yeon could hardly breathe, with his face once again right in front of hers.
He was so close she forgot to push him away.
She couldn’t think at all.
Every nerve in her body focused on him—on the way he gazed solely at her.
Beneath his thick brows, his eyes radiated masculine intensity, pulling her in deeper and deeper.
“What do you mean by that?”
At a distance where their noses nearly brushed, Do-hyun whispered the question.
“I want to answer you… But this position is uncomfortable.
I can’t.”
“You’re just lying there.
What’s uncomfortable about that?”
He had no intention of backing away.
“I haven’t covered your mouth—why can’t you answer?
Should I show you what it really means not to be able to speak?”
His gaze dropped instantly to her lips.
“Me too!”
Suddenly, Lee Yeon sat up, unable to hold back her frustration.
With her hands planted firmly on her hips, she burst out:
“Me too!
I wanted to rip that ridiculous contract marriage paper to shreds!
Whoever put in that clause about not harbouring impure intentions—!
That one line has been nagging at me nonstop.
It made me feel like I couldn’t maintain this relationship… like I had to hide my feelings.”
Her voice, which had started off hot with anger, gradually softened.
Do-hyun’s gaze, overflowing with tenderness, drank her in as though she were the most lovable thing in the world.
As soon as she finished, he laughed in delight.
He couldn’t stop smiling, happiness spilling out of him.
Then he leaned down, pushing her onto the sofa and pulling her into his arms as though he might break her with his embrace.
Lee Yeon gently stroked his back as he collapsed into her.
“True to yourself, even your confession bursts out boldly.
I thought you’d make me wait and ache longer.”
“Maybe I should’ve teased you more, made you suffer a bit.”
Do-hyun chuckled, a light sound escaping him.
“Now that I’ve answered, get up.
I’m really scared someone might walk in.”
She tried to push herself up, but he showed no sign of moving.
“You said you came in to cheer me up.”
He asked in a low, amused tone.
“At first, I came to clear up the misunderstanding.”
“Whether misunderstanding or bad mood—you said you’d fix it.
But I’m not fixed yet.
My mood’s still bad.”
Does a man with his lips raised that high really get to claim he’s in a bad mood?
“That’s why I gave you my precious chocolate.”
“I want something even more precious.”
Her pupils trembled.
Surely… he doesn’t mean…
Finding her reaction adorable, Do-hyun reached up and playfully caressed her cheek.
While she was caught off guard by his touch, he leaned in and pressed a light kiss to her lips before pulling away.
Lee Yeon’s eyes widened, then blinked slowly as she raised her hand to her mouth.
First kiss?
It was definitely a first kiss… and yet, strangely familiar.
And disappointing.
She surprised herself by feeling regret when he pulled away so quickly.
Do-hyun caught her hand as she touched her lips.
“But Yu Lee Yeon…”
In the silence, the sound of her gulping echoed.
“That wasn’t eating.
That was just a touch.”
The moment he finished, he claimed her lips again.
This time, fiercely—like he was marking what belonged to him.
Overwhelming her, sucking, pulling—Lee Yeon’s head spun.
He conquered every corner of her mouth until she was breathless.
Only then did he pull back briefly, giving her a chance to breathe.
Gazing down at her, flushed and panting because of him, his long-suppressed desires roared in triumph.
Now he no longer had to hold back.
He could devour her as much as he wanted—his woman.
Greedy for the chance, he leaned down again.
Her hands, which had been clutching only his waist, rose to wrap around his neck.
Do-hyun gripped the back of her neck, pulling her even closer, intent on exploring her more deeply.
This is the office, Yu Lee Yeon!
Her reason screamed in red alarm.
“Wait, just—wait a second.”
She finally pushed him back, gasping for air, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
“This is the company.
I think you’ve forgotten.”
“How many people dare to waltz into the Vice President’s office uninvited?”
He traced his thumb gently around her lips.
“Only Yu Lee Yeon.”
As his face dipped again, she quickly turned her head aside.
“No more.”
She crossed her fingers in an X.
Reluctantly, Do-hyun stood.
“They say food tastes better when you’ve been starved first.
Meeting you after starving for you—God, it’s too sweet.
It’s torture.”
“I never said I was okay with this.”
“You didn’t have to say it.
Your eyes already gave me permission.”
There was no winning against him in words.
“You’re mine now.
I should leave a mark, shouldn’t I?”
She hadn’t realised how direct he could be.
Bold, unapologetic in showing his feelings.
And that made him all the more heart-fluttering.
Standing before her, he gently cupped her cheeks, caressing them over and over.
“I just want to touch you as much as I like.”
“Don’t you already have your hands on me?”
Resigned, she didn’t even push his hands away.
“This is secretly touching.”
“Do I not understand the meaning of the word ‘secretly’?”
“When I can make the glass transparent again and love you openly—then it’ll be touching you as much as I like.”
When the world knew they were a couple.
He smiled, never stopping his hands from stroking her cheeks.
“Since we’re talking, let me ask something. You can clear my curiosity.”
“I can clear your curiosity and fix my mood too.”
He grinned playfully.
“Was today… our first kiss?”
Is this my first kiss?
Lee Yeon had long wondered about the kiss with Do-hyun she could never distinguish—dream or reality.
Today’s kiss hadn’t felt unfamiliar.
It was exactly like that one.
Could it be… it wasn’t a dream?
She had to know—was today their first, or had there been another time?
Her eyes locked on his firmly shut lips, waiting for him to answer.
“Well… you decide.
If you want today to be our first kiss, then let it be.”
What kind of answer is that?
“So… are you saying there was another time?”
“If you don’t remember, I can always reenact it.
Show you just how forward you were.”
He slowly lifted his hand from her cheek.
Whether from his touch or his words, her face turned scarlet, tempting enough to bite.
But then…
Do-hyun spread his palm as i
f noticing something off, and looked at her strangely.
“Yu Lee Yeon, why does this freckle here look lighter?”
Startled, Lee Yeon darted to a mirror.
From all his touching, the carefully drawn freckles had begun to fade.
“Ah… did I put on more makeup on this side?”
She should have realised the moment he touched her.
Damn it…
