Chapter – 69
“First Time Playing in the Water”
As the weather grew hotter,
on this day, a large inflatable pool was set up in the backyard,
and filled with water.
After taking them once to a park where they could play in the water,
they had started wanting to splash around,
so a vinyl pool with a slide was purchased.
Including the pump, it had cost nearly ten thousand yen,
so Ruri hoped they would use it for as long as possible.
Ruri put up a sunshade,
and once everything was ready,
she opened the back door.
It had been a bit inconvenient before,
so they had replaced it with a LIXIL Reschent door.
“Pool~!”
Phos came running over together with Cyan.
When the fairies arrived as well,
they stared at the vinyl pool curiously.
“Did you go to the bathroom?”
Seeing Phos nod vigorously,
Lithia said, as usual in a condescending tone,
“I took them, so it’s fine.”
“And while I’m at it,
Cyan took care of both big and small business too.”
“Thanks for that.”
Ruri laughed and let the child and the animal into the pool.
The fairies were having fun with water guns as well.
Ruri brought out a deck chair and,
while working,
kept an eye on Phos and the others.
Just the fact that they were no longer being targeted by the state
was a huge relief.
Even though she had disguised things with magic,
back when there were surveillance cameras,
she never knew what might happen,
and couldn’t relax.
If only the issues with the mirror and the letters could be resolved,
she could finally feel at ease.
Despite having a small bamboo grove,
the summer sunlight was harsher than usual this year.
It was almost lunchtime,
so she would have to get them out of the pool soon.
Just as Ruri was thinking that,
Goday arrived.
“I rang the bell but no one answered,
so I wondered where you were—turns out you were here.”
“Ah, Grandma!”
Phos and Cyan turned around.
“When it’s hot, a pool really is the way to go.”
Goday smiled, then asked,
“Have you already had lunch?”
“No, not yet.”
“Perfect timing.
I made inari sushi—just like the kind Eris used to love.
Would you like to eat together?”
As she said that, she opened the container’s lid.
“Wow, that looks delicious!”
Ruri smiled too, then said,
“Then I’ll make a clear soup with somen noodles,
and we can eat them together.”
“That sounds nice.”
Goday smiled back and said,
“Then I’ll borrow the kitchen first.”
She went straight into the kitchen through the back entrance.
“Phos and Cyan need to rinse off in the bath
and take a shower.”
As Ruri talked while drying off Phos and Cyan,
the fairies watched with sulky expressions.
“When do we get lunch?”
At Alec’s words, Ruri replied,
“After Goday leaves.
But~ there’s a box of snacks in my workroom,
so you can open it and eat those.”
“Snacks?”
Seeing the fairies’ eyes light up, Ruri laughed.
This house had two rooms,
and until Phos started using it,
Ruri had used one as her workroom.
That’s where she had secretly stored the snacks.
“There’s juice in the mini fridge too,
you can drink that if you want.”
At those words, the fairies cheered and ran off.
“Alright, let’s take a shower, change clothes, and then eat lunch.”
After saying that, Ruri put the lid on the pool,
and led Phos and Cyan back into the house.
