Chapter 29
“Ruri’s Memory of Being Rejected”
“Hey, is that a ride?”
“Yes. There are carriages and horses, you see.
Try riding it. It should rotate slowly.”
It was a slightly strange merry-go-round, but somehow, it felt cute in its own way.
Following Ruri’s explanation and guided by the fairies, Fos also got on the carriage.
Then, it started moving along with the music.
“Aren’t you guys riding?”
When she looked to the side, Litia and Chrysos were staring at the merry-go-round.
“Unknown things are scary.”
“Isn’t that dangerous?”
“It’s fine. I actually imagined it as a dreamland, but somehow it ended up being a mix of different amusement parks,” Ruri said with a laugh.
It had been so many years since she had visited a dreamland that she had almost completely forgotten what it was like.
The last time… she didn’t even want to remember.
Was it when her boyfriend had broken up with her?
“Sorry. Another woman is pregnant. Let’s break up.”
“Huh?”
What about the proposal the other day?
Ruri stared in shock at the diamond shining on her ring finger.
And he was cheating? How could she not notice he was seeing someone else? How foolish.
Was she really that naive?
Before she could even hate the man bowing in front of her, she felt embarrassed by her own foolishness, and tears didn’t even come.
Ruri remembered the day she had angrily taken off the ring, thrown it, and punched him before leaving.
Later, she heard through the grapevine that they divorced, but she didn’t feel anything.
It was that trivial, just a page in her life…
Ruri let out a soft laugh.
“Does this country have places with rides like these?”
Litia looked up at Ruri, as if to erase that thought.
“Yes. There are all sorts of amusement parks across the country. Children and adults alike can play.”
“Adults ride those strange rides too?”
“Of course. Don’t you have amusement parks in your country?”
“Amusement parks? No.”
“Then, where do you play?”
“Play? Hmm… maybe Stone Ball?”
Chrysos and Litia exchanged glances.
“Stone Ball? What’s that?”
When Ruri asked,
“Well, this,” Litia said, taking out a gem and forming it into a sphere.
Something like a basketball or volleyball?
Ruri took the ball with a curious expression.
“Oh, it’s light. What do you do with this?”
“You throw it, toss it up, and try not to let it fall, competing for points,” Chrysos explained.
It seemed like something similar to volleyball or dodgeball.
Ruri tossed the ball up and looked at the two of them.
“So, rides like these are new for you. Why don’t you try riding one? It’s fun.”
While they were talking, the merry-go-round stopped, and Fos and the others got off.
“It just spins, but moving up and down is fun~,” Sumire said excitedly.
“What’s that?”
“A roller coaster, but a bit retro,” Ruri said, looking at Eme.
“Want to try it? It’s fun because it moves at high speed. Don’t you have rides on your island?”
“Hmm… we have carriages and bicycles.”
“I see~ then maybe a roller coaster would be scary.”
Ruri looked at the fairies and started walking.
“It’s still a bit early for Fos, so only you two can ride. Fasten your seatbelts when seated.”
Once everyone’s belts were checked, the roller coaster began to move.
This time, Litia and Chrysos didn’t ride either.
They seemed interested, but their fear was stronger.
“You two are a little timid,” Ruri laughed.
“We’re not timid; we’re cautious,” Chrysos pouted.
As the coaster started moving, the fairies’ joyful voices echoed.
“A-amazing. Won’t we fall?”
“It’s okay. This is a copy space, right? And even if something happens, magic can fix it,” Ruri explained.
“Are humans here fearless? Or is Ruri special?”
Litia looked up at Ruri.
“This country is full of curiosity. Not just me, everyone moves driven by their interests. That’s right. Let’s ride the Ferris wheel. It’s fun to see the scenery from above.”
With that, Ruri took Fos’s hand and led the two of them onto the Ferris wheel.
The small box started moving slowly, and at first, Litia and Chrysos were cautious, but soon they were enjoying the view from the window.
“Oh, you can see the roller coaster from above!”
Chrysos’s face brightened with a smile.
“Fun, isn’t it?”
Looking to the side, Fos was enjoying the view from above together with Litia.
