Chapter 20
“Everything Feels New?”
“Does your stomach hurt?”
Ruri hugged the small prince, looking worried.
This child… I absolutely have to protect him!
She brought gemstone dishes to her mouth to store up magical energy.
“By the way, you said earlier that only you can make jewelry, right?
What kind of things can you make?”
Ruri asked.
“We can make anything. Necklaces, earrings, hair ornaments—
we use stones and magic to make them,”
Morga said while eating cup noodles.
So that means…
if we make a lot and sell them, we could make a fortune?
For now, maybe I’ll have them make a few prototypes.
Feeding fourteen fairies isn’t cheap either.
They eat gemstone dishes, yet still want things like grilled meat, cup noodles, and sweets.
Grandmother, even if the house is nice,
it really is a financial burden…
I might go bankrupt before raising the prince safely…
Ruri sighed and gulped down her beer.
――――――――
“Ruri~ what’s this~?”
Flare asked, staring at the washing machine.
She watched the clothes spinning around, curious.
Ever since arriving here, everything seemed so fresh and new to them.
They’d stick to Ruri everywhere, asking:
“What’s that~?”
“What’s this~?”
“This is a machine to wash clothes,” Ruri explained.
“Clothes? Wash them?”
Fain’s words made Ruri realize—
these kids always wear the same outfits?
Phos wears something like royal attire via magic,
but the fairies’ clothes never seem to change?
When Ruri mentioned this, Nel explained:
“They’re not exactly the same. There are subtle differences.
Gemstones are kneaded into the fabric,
so the entire outfit sparkles with gems.”
Nel puffed her cheeks.
I see… that glittering is gemstones.
What luxurious clothes they wear every day.
“So you do change outfits sometimes. Then what about the clothes you take off?”
Ruri smiled.
“Take off?”
Eme tilted her head, so Ruri continued:
“You can’t change unless you take them off, right?”
“No, we do it like this,”
Lemon waved her wand and changed her dress into one of a different color.
“You imagine the outfit you want to wear with magic, right?
Then—”
Lapis, beside her, also changed her dress magically.
“Ohhh~”
Ruri stared at the clothes in surprise.
It’s just like a transformation scene in a magical girl anime—
so fascinating.
Ruri laughed.
“If you imagine the clothes you want to wear,
you can make them with magic too,”
“You’re joking~”
Ruri shook her head and hands at Alec.
“No, it’s true. Your magic has improved a lot,”
he said.
Ruri paused and thought…
Wait a minute—
if I can do that, I can save money on clothes?
And laundry too?
Ruri grinned, deciding to try that training.
She took out the laundry from the washing machine that had just finished its cycle.
Ruri usually bought cheap clothes from discount shops,
remade them herself,
and wore them repeatedly.
She didn’t care about brands; as long as the accessories she made matched the clothes, that was enough.
After the fairies pointed it out,
she decided she would also practice this magic from now on.
