EP5. ◇ My Feelings Never Wavered
Bookmark Inserted
At that time, I came to know a woman named Erika, who worked as a nurse.
We quickly hit it off, and it didn’t take long for us to become deeply involved.
She too was not getting along well with her husband, who was living in the U.S. (San Diego) at the time.
> “Two people, both longing for human warmth, naturally slipped into an inappropriate relationship.”
At that moment, I thought my encounter with Erika wasn’t by chance, but rather,
> “a destined meeting that was meant to happen.”
That was how thirsty I had been.
Yet, not once did my feelings toward my wife and Erika ever waver.
> “Even when I was deeply absorbed in my affair with Erika, I was always clear about where my heart stood.”
The days and emotional bonds that my wife and I had built up since meeting each other
could not so easily be erased.
I fully understood that I was being selfish,
but > “the only one I truly loved was my wife.”
Of course, I liked Erika, but the one to whom I could dedicate love was my wife alone.
That is why I never whispered words of love to Erika.
> “Inside me, there was always a firm line drawn.”
I thought that even if my wife were to learn about the affair,
given the lack of intimacy on her side and her high pride,
she wouldn’t get angry, nor would she grow jealous—
she would simply watch in silence.
But then, my wife told me she knew about the affair…
And when she asked, “So what do you plan to do from here?”
> “I made a proposal to her.”
