Chapter 6
“Can I get a massage again next time?”
After the massage ended, Sylvia asked Melody, unable to hide her disappointment.
“Of course. You’ll receive one tomorrow as well, so there’s no need to worry.”
“Tomorrow too? Then… the day after that, and even the next day?”
“Of course. Whenever you want, my lady.”
Sylvia looked at Melody and spoke as if she were confessing.
“Melody, have I ever told you that I love you?”
Melody silently laughed at her words.
After the massage, Sylvia returned to the dressing room. This time, her eyes caught sight of something new.
“So many… what are all these?”
In front of her were five mannequins, each dressed in a different beautiful gown.
“If none of them suit your taste, we can bring more.”
“More? You mean there are even more?”
“Yes.”
At Melody’s answer, Sylvia couldn’t close her mouth.
Each dress looked incredibly expensive, made from luxurious fabric that Sylvia could never even dream of wearing.
“So… I just need to choose one to wear, right?”
“That’s correct.”
Sylvia carefully examined each dress.
She wanted to choose properly, since this might be her only chance.
‘Once it’s revealed that I’m not Vivian Werner… I won’t even be able to touch dresses like these again.’
She paused for a moment.
‘Well… even if I’m not Vivian, the Duke said he would compensate me…’
But she shook her head.
‘I’ll think about that later.’
“In that case… I’ll wear this one.”
After careful thought, Sylvia chose a beige frilled dress.
The maids quickly helped her put it on.
“These kinds of beautiful clothes are harder to wear than I thought.”
After tying the ribbons, the maids stepped back.
Sylvia looked at herself in the mirror.
It was worth the effort.
“Truly… you look beautiful, my lady.”
“Even if it’s just flattery, thank you.”
“It’s not flattery.”
“Then… thank you even more.”
Sylvia laughed softly.
She turned slowly in front of the mirror.
She looked… beautiful.
But at the same time, something bothered her.
‘I don’t look anything like the Werner family… not at all.’
She bit her lip slightly.
‘Why is the Duke so sure I’m Vivian? Because of that water power?’
But she still doubted it.
Julia said she felt water power from her…
But Sylvia herself couldn’t use any such power.
‘She must be mistaken…’
And sooner or later, the truth would come out.
‘If only I really were Vivian…’
Sylvia smiled bitterly.
“Let’s go.”
She turned away from the mirror.
Melody guided her as they walked.
The soft sound of silk echoed with each step.
“Dinner is usually served in the west dining room.”
“The west…?”
“Yes.”
Sylvia nodded, then suddenly became curious.
“Melody, can I ask something?”
“Of course. You can ask anything.”
Sylvia hesitated.
“It’s not important, just something I was wondering…”
“What is it?”
“You said ‘west dining room’ just now…”
“Yes.”
“Then… are there also east, north, and south dining rooms?”
Melody burst into a small laugh.
Sylvia’s cheeks turned red.
“No, right? It’s just called that because it’s on the west side?”
“No. As you said, there are dining rooms in the east, north, and south as well. They’re used for breakfast, lunch, and guests.”
Sylvia’s eyes widened.
“No way… really?”
“There’s also a separate dining hall for the staff. In total, there are five dining rooms in this mansion.”
“Five dining rooms… that’s amazing. Though… I don’t know why you’d need that many…”
The maids couldn’t hold back their laughter.
Sylvia scratched her cheek awkwardly.
“Well… I guess it would be strange if such a huge place had only one dining room.”
Then she looked around.
“But cleaning must be really hard.”
“There are many staff members, so it’s manageable.”
“Do you clean too, Melody?”
“No. I serve the Duke’s family—like I am serving you now.”
“That’s a relief. Cleaning is really tough.”
Sylvia looked down the hallway.
Everything was spotless.
She knew that kind of perfection didn’t come easily.
“When I lived at the orphanage… I really hated cleaning.”
Before she got her café job, she had no choice but to follow the director’s orders.
“Especially when guests were coming. We had to clean everything perfectly…”
She shivered slightly.
“And here… everything is so expensive. I’d be too scared to even touch anything while cleaning.”
“That’s understandable.”
“What happens if someone breaks something expensive? Do they have to pay for it? That would seem a bit… stingy, even for a noble house…”
She stopped, realizing she talked too much.
“Ah, sorry. I just remembered the old days.”
“It’s alright,” Melody replied gently.
Soon, they reached the west dining room.
As the door opened, everyone inside turned to look at Sylvia.
“Welcome, Vivian.”
Sylvia flinched slightly at the name.
“Sorry for being late.”
“It’s alright. We just arrived as well. Don’t worry. Sit down.”
The Duke’s voice was full of warmth.
Sylvia’s seat was beside him, facing Julia.
“Bring the meal.”
At his command, servants began carrying dishes inside.
Sylvia glanced at the Duke and Julia.
The Duke looked happy.
But Julia… showed almost no emotion.
‘Why… doesn’t she seem happy?’
Her sister had been missing for ten years.
Yet Julia didn’t look joyful at all.
‘She’s not just cold… there’s something else.’
“Now, let’s eat.”
The meal began.
The Duke and Julia started eating naturally.
The chef explained each dish from afar.
But Sylvia couldn’t move.
She stared at the table.
‘What… how do I even use these?’
There were too many forks, knives, and spoons in front of her.
