Chapter 1:
Rebellious Second Young Master × Overbearing CEO (1 / 2)
As soon as Gu Yin was transported over, his face began to sting—hot and burning.
He looked up in confusion just in time to see a middle-aged man storm off after slapping him across the face.
Rubbing his cheek, Gu Yin casually walked to the fridge, took out an egg, and began rolling it over his face.
“System, transmit the plot.”
The original host was the second young master of the Gu Corporation.
He had an older brother, Gu Jie, three years his senior and from the same parents.
The eldest son was an academic prodigy, studied abroad, and quickly adapted to the family business upon his return—competent, professional, clean-cut, and even married his childhood sweetheart early on.
The original host, on the other hand, was a typical troublemaker.
He was lazy, obsessed with pleasure, and terrible at studying.
He frequently got into fights, and it was only because his father donated a whole building that he managed to graduate from college.
As an adult, he was all about indulging in wine, women, and song, completely useless in any serious capacity.
And so, this worthless second-generation heir was finally put to his “best use”—a marriage alliance.
Naturally, the original host was unwilling.
He didn’t even like women, so how could he be expected to marry one? If not for his strict family control, he would’ve been openly dating men long ago.
But he was incapable of doing anything on his own, and once his father cut off his financial support, he was left homeless.
Eventually, he had no choice but to go through with the arranged marriage.
His bride? The eldest daughter of the Nan family—Nan Ming, three years older than him, with a cold and aloof personality.
The original host constantly complained about how boring it was being married to her, and even worse, he assaulted her multiple times during their marriage.
While Nan Ming was pregnant, he was off partying wildly with another man.
When Nan Ming found out, the shock caused her to give birth prematurely.
Their daughter, Nan Yu, was born frail and sickly and was completely neglected by the original host.
That man the original host had been with wasn’t any good either—he was only using him to steal confidential files from the Nan Corporation.
Foolishly trusting him, the original host sabotaged a joint project between the Gu and Nan families, leaving both companies in dire financial straits, teetering on bankruptcy.
Seeing his true colors, Nan Ming decisively divorced him.
The Gu family then kicked him out, leaving him with nothing.
But the damage he caused to Nan Ming’s family was irreversible.
The Nan Corporation barely managed to survive, with Nan Ming tirelessly holding everything together—raising their daughter and running the company—until she died of exhaustion.
Their daughter also passed away young due to illness.
“Target: Nan Ming. Host, please begin the protection mission,”
the system announced mechanically.
The plot had now reached the point where the original host was still refusing the marriage and had just been warned by his father. There was still time to turn things around.
Gu Yin looked at his reflection in the mirror—yep, handsome, with a slightly submissive vibe.
Smiling, he dug through a closet full of flamboyant, feminine clothes and picked out a simple athletic outfit.
Since he was about to get married, he figured he might as well go check out what his fiancée was like.
He chose a relatively low-key car and headed toward the Nan Corporation.
Located in the financial district right next to the Gu Corporation, the Nan family business had long been established.
Nan Ming, like Gu Jie, had returned from abroad and was currently the company’s design director, in charge of new product development.
“Young Master Gu,”
As soon as he entered, several employees greeted him warmly.
News of the Gu-Nan alliance had already spread, and most of the staff knew Gu Yin would soon become their boss’s husband.
Gu Yin nodded and smiled gently at the front desk.
“I’m here to see your Director Nan.”
The receptionist was stunned—this was the first time she’d seen Gu Yin look so polite.
She stared in a daze, thinking that the Gu family’s second young master actually looked pretty handsome when he acted proper.
“Hello?”
Gu Yin waved a hand in front of her face.
“She’s not here?”
At the moment, he and Nan Ming weren’t close—they’d only met a few times—so he wasn’t sure whether she’d even be in the office. He felt a bit regretful.
If he’d known, he would’ve contacted her ahead of time.
