Chapter 3
Then came a day, during that period of suffering through each passing day.
Yoonha accidentally overheard her close acquaintance, Seong-woo, on a phone call and learned about Dohun’s situation.
‘Dohun-ah, even so, it’s supposedly a marriage into a chaebol family. Where can you find a woman who would agree to a clean divorce after just a few years? No matter how much money you offer, it won’t be easy to find a woman who suits your tastes.’
He said he’d give a lot of money if she divorced after a few years?
She liked the sound of that very much. That meant, at the very least, she wouldn’t have to live a life taking care of some man in his 40s until he died.
Moreover, Dohun was a man with looks and a background incomparable to some random man in his 40s. If she had to get married anyway, these were much better conditions.
If she just ignored the pressure of having to meet him again, it almost seemed like an opportunity for Yoonha.
She would become the woman who suited his tastes, and she would get the money for her father’s hospital bills.
So she pestered Seong-woo. She said she’d been a fan of Dohun for a long time and begged him to just arrange one meeting.
Seong-woo, unaware of Yoonha’s ulterior motives, set up the meeting, and that led to today’s situation, where she was meeting him to negotiate and agree to all his conditions.
But she never expected one of those conditions to involve a child.
“Then the child’s custody…?”
“Of course, I will take it.”
“……”
“In return, I will take responsibility for that child and raise them as the heir of the Jaegil Group, wanting for nothing.”
The thought of having her child’s custody taken away was even sadder than just having to give birth, but she couldn’t back out here. She had thought about this countless times before coming here.
It was some small comfort to think that the child would inherit the Jaegil Group.
“……I’ll do it.”
Yoonha solidified her resolve and answered. She decided to think of it as luck that she could marry him even under these circumstances.
“But what if… I don’t get pregnant?”
Now that she had decided on pregnancy and marriage, that problem worried her. These days, even healthy couples often struggle to have children.
“That’s why we’ll have to try, won’t we? Day and night.”
His voice held a certain intensity. The night she had spent with him suddenly came to mind, making her heart pound.
“If it still doesn’t happen, we’ll look into whose fault it is and come to a mutual agreement.”
That didn’t seem like a bad condition for Yoonha either. It didn’t outright demand compensation.
“Alright. I’ll… do my best,” Yoonha replied. Since the discussion was over, she wanted to lighten the mood. Talking about pregnancy kept making her cheeks feel strangely hot.
“Then I suppose we should start today.”
“Pardon? Start what?”
“Trying.”
“……”
So suddenly?
Eventually, not just her cheeks but her entire face grew hot.
“Shall we go up then?”
“Right now? Immediately?”
Yoonha blinked in surprise. Dohun replied nonchalantly.
“The probability increases the more you do it.”
He was right. Since pregnancy was a condition for the marriage, a higher probability was better for Yoonha too.
“And,” Dohun added, looking straight at Yoonha.
“I believe I should have sex with my woman before marriage. It’s important for married life, after all.”
Yoonha also knew that sexual compatibility was important. But the two of them had already been physically intimate five years ago.
As Yoonha tilted her head slightly, not understanding his meaning, he kindly elaborated.
“After five years, who knows how much we might have changed in bed. It’s to check.”
“Ah.”
Yoonha’s face burned red once again. But she had no grounds for refusal.
Clutching her pounding heart, Yoonha barely managed to nod.
Perhaps it was the satisfactory answer he wanted, as the corner of Dohun’s mouth quirked up briefly before settling back down.
After that, things proceeded swiftly.
Dohun called his secretary to adjust his schedule, tidied up, and stood.
Even as she rode the hotel elevator up with him, Yoonha still couldn’t believe it.
She wasn’t used to riding an elevator alone with a man to a room at this early hour. But she steeled herself, thinking that if she showed her nervousness, she might lose this opportunity too.
“Let’s wash up separately.”
“Pardon?”
As soon as they entered the suite, Dohun spoke while taking off his jacket.
Yoonha’s expression faltered. Even though she had accepted all the conditions and was marrying on the premise of pregnancy, did he have to suggest washing together right from the start?
Her situation might make her seem easy, but as a woman, she felt ashamed.
“You use the guest bathroom here, and I’ll use the main one in the bedroom. It’s better to save time.”
“Ah.”
Only then did Yoonha realize she had misunderstood and let out a sigh of relief.
“But going forward, I’d prefer if you didn’t have an aversion to washing together in the same space. Couples normally do that sort of thing.”
“……Yes, I understand.”
Once again, Dohun was right.
It was a contractual marriage, but they would be husband and wife nonetheless. Between a married couple, that level of exposure and skin ship should be natural.
Thinking that, she felt embarrassed. Here she was, begging him for marriage, yet trying to protect her pride.
“Then, I’ll go wash up now.”
Yoonha fled to the bathroom to hide her inexplicably flustered face.
After showering, she came out wearing only a robe.
She’d have to take it off again soon anyway, and she didn’t want to reveal her inner self, which would be embarrassed to get dressed only to undress again.
In the meantime, Dohun had also finished showering and was sitting on the sofa. He, too, was wearing only a shower robe.
The firm chest muscles visible through the opening of his robe and his damp, not-yet-dry hair looked quite provocative.
Adding that clean, fresh image to his already handsome face made him seem almost mystical.
While Yoonha was inwardly admiring him, Dohun approached her closely.
“Shall we go in then?”
“Yes……”
Dohun opened the bedroom door first and entered, with Yoonha following behind.
As if he had been waiting for Yoonha to enter, the moment the door closed, he pounced on her.
“Dohun, please……”
Her pleas were useless. Rejecting the bed entirely, he pinned her against the door and teased her, eventually kneeling down and positioning himself between her legs.
The next moment, her whole body trembled as if an electric current had run through it. Each time his soft tongue licked her sensitive flesh, it felt as if her body was melting away.
“S-stop… I… I can’t take it.”
“We haven’t even started yet.”
At first, she thought it was just a bold, empty remark.
But Dohun seemed intent on backing up his words, holding Yoonha all night long without tiring.
Against the door, on the bed, and then moving out to the living room sofa and even the bathroom…
He pursued her, not leaving her still for a single moment.
If five years ago he had gently knocked at her gate, this night he was no different from a wild beast.
When she opened her eyes, the sun was already high in the sky. Having fallen asleep as if passing out just as dawn was breaking, she hadn’t even slept that long.
As she came to her senses, she first checked the space beside her.
Dohun had already gotten up and left, the space next to her lying empty.
“So this is what it felt like.”
It was the feeling of being used for her body and then discarded.
Of course, Dohun would contact her again soon, but since he had really left her in Las Vegas back then, he must have felt even worse.
Only now did she understand why he had been so sharp with her when they met again.
“At least I’m spared the awkwardness of facing him.”
Yoonha decided to look on the bright side. After being so intimate last night, facing each other in the morning as if nothing happened wouldn’t be easy.
Just thinking about last night made Yoonha’s face burn. Dohun, who had claimed he just wanted to check their compatibility, had plunged into her body countless times like a starved beast.
It was as if his life depended on getting her pregnant.
“Ah…”
A moan escaped her as she tried to get out of bed.
It was flesh that hadn’t been invaded by anyone since she first accepted Dohun five years ago. Having been tormented all night, it was only natural that her thighs felt sore and her back ached.
But she couldn’t lie in the hotel room he’d gotten all day, so she had to get up.
“What in the world…?”
Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, Yoonha gasped at the red marks covering her body.
Her neck was nothing. Her chest was covered in red marks to the point where its original color was barely visible, and her peaks were swollen.
So that’s why it hurt whenever anything touched them.
“I’ll have to be careful for a while.”
Yoonha sighed and got in the shower.
After showering, she felt somewhat better. Her body still ached here and there, but it was bearable, and she resigned herself to the red marks on her body.
She’d just have to cover them well with clothes for the time being.
Finishing her shower, she came out into the living room wearing just the robe. She thought no one was there and was acting comfortably.
But she stopped dead in her tracks after taking only a few steps.
Because she saw Dohun. He was sitting on the sofa, working on his tablet.
Dressed in a crisp suit, he looked like a perfect painting just sitting there, making it hard to believe he was the same person she had tangled with last night.
His face was so perfect that the splendor of the suite paled in comparison.
As she was admiring him, Dohun, seeming to sense her presence, looked up and saw her.
Yoonha, snapping back to attention, asked,
“You’re still here.”
She had assumed he was gone. While she hadn’t felt great about him leaving first, she was confident she wouldn’t have been hurt. That’s how little she expected from Dohun.
Dohun closed the tablet he was looking at, approached her, and said,
“I’ve had the personal experience of learning how shitty that feels.”
