Chapter – 63

No Questioning the Female Envoy

“Does it never snow in the Cursed Land?”

Even with her vision blocked by the wind and snow, Jiang Xi could still see that the Cursed Land remained a swirl of black and red, with no sign of snow covering it.

Lu Liufeng carried the female envoy, keeping a controlled distance, flying back and forth along the direction parallel to the Guardian Wall.

His sharp eagle eyes pierced through the storm, looking out toward the Cursed Land. He gave a brief sound of acknowledgment.

“The Cursed Land is unchanging.”

In truth, he had a faint suspicion in his mind, but it couldn’t be confirmed—and perhaps never would be.

Jiang Xi gazed at the red haze of the land through the snow, wanting to get a little closer.

“Let’s go a bit further,” she said.

This time, however, Lu Liufeng didn’t agree.

“Female Envoy, it’s too dangerous.”

Jiang Xi pressed herself against the feathers of his neck and said, “Just a little bit!”

“If I feel uncomfortable, I’ll definitely tell you!”

Lu Liufeng instinctively didn’t want his female envoy to approach danger, but he also worried she might be unhappy.

After thinking for a moment, he said, “Then only a little bit.”

Jiang Xi nodded eagerly.

Lu Liufeng flew in an S-shaped pattern, moving extremely slowly.

He stayed alert for any movement behind him. When he heard a muffled sound from his rider, he immediately pulled back without waiting for her to speak.

“Female Envoy, what happened?”

Jiang Xi pressed one hand to her chest and the other to her head.

Just now, a “thump!” like a heartbeat had suddenly struck into her mind, making her instinctively cover her head.

But now, the only sound in the air was the howling wind and snow.

That heartbeat-like thump seemed to have never existed—it vanished.

Jiang Xi shook her head slowly. “I’m fine.”

Yet despite her words, her eyes held a trace of uncertainty.

Looking toward the Cursed Land, she asked Lu Liufeng,

“Did you hear anything just now?”

It couldn’t have been her imagination.

The vibration, like a heartbeat, still lingered in her body.

Her dark eyes carried the faintest hint of fear.

Could the boundless Cursed Land actually be alive?

Lu Liufeng, worried for his female envoy, had already flown outside the tribe and landed.

When he heard her question, he shook his eagle head from side to side.

“No.”

Jiang Xi only then realized he had landed.

She didn’t dismount, remaining on his back.

“Why did you land?”

Lu Liufeng twisted his eagle head back, but due to the angle, he couldn’t see his rider. He spoke instead,

“I heard your voice just now. You seemed unwell, so I landed.”

Jiang Xi nuzzled into his feathers.

“I’m fine.”

“It’s just that when I was near the wall, I seemed to hear a heartbeat.”

“A heartbeat?” Lu Liufeng was slightly surprised.

Jiang Xi nodded.

After thinking for a moment, she said, “Shall we go see again?”

“I want to confirm whether it’s my illusion, or if the sound really exists.”

Lu Liufeng had resisted countless Cursed Beast raids and even entered the Cursed Land from the air.

But a heartbeat?

He had never heard one.

Still, he did not doubt his female envoy, only worried.

“Are you really sure you’re okay?”

Jiang Xi rested on his back, reaching out to touch his neck feathers, full of energy.

“I’m fine, don’t worry. I’m a female envoy who can detect corruption!”

Lu Liufeng was excellent in every way—but he worried about her too much!!

It felt as if she were fragile glass, held in hands for fear of breaking, or put in the mouth for fear of dissolving.

She wasn’t that delicate at all!

In the end, Lu Liufeng once again faced the wind and snow and took to the sky, emphasizing carefully:

“I’ll only fly a little closer, then come back down.”

Jiang Xi nodded.

“Just to the distance we were at before.”

Of course, being slightly closer would also be acceptable.

But given Lu Liufeng’s personality, it would take time for him to realize that his female envoy was not fragile.

Slowly, gradually.

You can’t eat a whole fat person in one bite.

This time, however, Jiang Xi did not hear the “thump!” heartbeat.

The air was filled only with the howling wind and snow.

She noticed that the altar had been lit.

The fire, for some unknown reason, carried a hint of blue. It burned quickly, and soon engulfed the entire altar.

Black smoke rose above the altar, stirring the wind and snow, drifting toward the Cursed Land.

Around the altar, some of the orcs thought their leader was overreacting. They believed the Black Fish had not been corrupted.

All of this was, in fact, the first thing Jiang Xi had done after regaining her identity.

It was meant to demonstrate the authority of a Saint-Blessed Female Envoy and assert her dominance in the tribe.

But when Black Fish turned into black water and burned with a “popping” sound, the faces of all the orcs changed.

One of them, in terror, took a few steps back, then quickly turned, leaping off the wall, transforming into a beast, and fled toward his home.

The chieftain, Rupert, looked at the other orcs and said coldly:

“I know some of you secretly kept the fish. If you don’t want to be corrupted, hand them over immediately!”

Thanks to the Hot River Valley, the food problem this winter had already been solved.

But the female envoy and the orcs could not live on tasteless vegetables alone—they needed meat to maintain strength.

For some orcs unable to hunt in the snow, these fish were a lifeline.

Rupert suspected some would hide the fish, but he hadn’t expected it to be so many.

He watched as orcs leapt off the walls one by one and sighed deeply.

Rupert turned and knelt before the six-winged white lion statue outside the altar, praying:

“Beast God above, bless the Lion’s Roar Tribe, help us survive this hardship.”

Other orcs also knelt, praying in unison:

“Beast God above, bless the Lion’s Roar Tribe, help us survive this hardship.”

The orcs’ prayers, like sacred chants, mixed with the wind and snow, swirling into the sky.

After praying, Rupert stood and looked seriously at all of them.

“I know many of you still hold prejudice against the female envoy Jiang Xi, but that is in the past.”

“Now, the female envoy has regained her outward spiritual power. She is a walker sent by the Life Mother Tree to bring food to the Lion’s Roar Tribe and to detect corruption among Black Fish within the walls…”

“This is the blessing of the Mother Tree, the protection of the Beast God.”

“I do not want to see any questioning of the female envoy within the tribe again.”

Rupert’s gaze swept over the faces of the orcs.

Some wore indifferent expressions.

He knew this was because the Cursed Land had never seen a Saint-Blessed Female Envoy before, and even the Life Mother Tree had refused to root itself there to protect females and offspring.

So, preconceived notions made them think this was no big deal.

Rupert’s tone grew heavier.

“This is the first time since the Cursed Land appeared that a female envoy has descended, the first time we’ve received the Mother Tree’s blessing, and it has come to our Lion’s Roar Tribe!”

The bad news: she’s now a notorious and vicious female with a poisonous body, exiled to the Cursed Land along with five beastmen husbands bound to her by unbreakable marriage contracts (originally ten).

Looking at the five stunning beastmen who would rather die than give in, Jiang Xi calmly says:

The best beastmen of the tribe pray daily just to be with her—even without an official title.

Powerful beastmen from outside the tribe come from afar, hoping for just a single glance from her.
