Chapter 6
Reincarnated as the Ultimate Genius of the Swordsmanship Family
Shhhik, thud!
-
Kruooaaar!
Through the shadows, Ruin’s eyes followed the frenzied movements of the rampaging ogre. Everything seemed slowed down, as if the world itself had slipped into slow motion.
“Is this… the effect of <Cheon-ui-Mubong>?”
Everything around him seemed amplified at least five, maybe ten times, turning into pure information and flowing into his mind. Because of this, as Ruin moved at high speed, the ogre’s actions seemed comparatively sluggish.
“At this rate, I might not only exceed the limits of extreme speed… I could even reach the realm of sound.”
The shadow martial arts Ruin had learned in his previous life relied on speed. But there were limits to human speed, and even with extreme agility, one could not fully escape human perception without blending into the shadows.
However…
With the power of <Cheon-ui-Mubong>, he was confident he could surpass human eyesight.
And even more terrifying:
“I haven’t even fully mastered shadow martial arts yet.”
He was only following the forms stored in his memory from his previous life. He hadn’t even moved the mana required for proper shadow martial arts.
Yet…
Whoosh!
-
Kuwor!
At just seven years old, Ruin effortlessly subdued the ogre, the so-called king of the forest.
The creature was already covered in injuries, but with every passing moment, the wounds multiplied and the blood flowed freely.
Finally…
-
Krwah!
Boom!
With a powerful crash, the ogre collapsed to the ground.
Tap, tap.
Ruin stood atop the fallen creature, clenching and unclenching his hands, muttering to himself:
“Is this the power of <Cheon-ui-Mubong>?”
At that moment:
Ding!
Congratulations! You have achieved an extraordinary hunt at a young age. Achievement unlocked: “Normal.”
Title acquired: “Hunter of the Forest.”
Effect: Gains additional abilities in combat with wild animals and monsters in the forest. All training done in the forest is amplified.
Through this so-called “status window,” Ruin gained much more than he realized. Amplified training effects in the forest were like water from a dry sky to him.
“I must go hunting every day with Father, no matter what.”
With a new goal set, Ruin resolved to further accelerate the growth of <Cheon-ui-Mubong>.
And then…
“Ruuuin!”
Sylvia, waiting alone at base camp, ran to him with tear-stained cheeks and hugged him tightly.
“Were you crying?”
“Hiiing… Ruin, are you okay? Are you hurt?”
Sylvia sniffled, checking on Ruin’s condition. He gave a faint smile and patted her head.
“I’m fine. No injuries.”
“That’s a relief.”
Only then did Sylvia relax, letting out a light breath and looking at him. She then spoke in a slightly trembling voice:
“But… what about that green monster?”
“I gave it a proper beating, and it ran away screaming!”
Ruin exaggeratedly gestured as he explained, and Sylvia laughed, shaking her head.
“R-Really? No way, you’re lying.”
“I’m serious. I went ‘Roar!’ and it ran away scared. Ah, you should’ve seen it, Sylvia!”
She fell silent for a moment, then suddenly lowered her head. Startled, Ruin called out anxiously:
“Uh? Sylvia, are you okay?”
Then she lifted her face slightly and spoke softly:
“…Thank you.”
She smiled brightly at Ruin.
“Oh… uh, y-yeah.”
Ruin stumbled slightly backward, caught off guard.
“What is this… such an innocent, genuine smile…”
No one he had ever met could match the purity and warmth of this smile. It filled him with an unfamiliar sense of comfort.
“This feeling is… strange, yet pleasant.”
He reflected on his past life as 1872, where he could never remember hearing genuine gratitude from anyone—only cold acknowledgment for success.
“Tch… pointless thoughts.”
Shaking off the memory, he turned to Sylvia:
“Then… Sylvia, can I ask you a favor?”
“Sure, a favor? What is it?”
“…Don’t tell anyone about what happened today. Let’s keep it a secret between us.”
“A… secret?”
Sylvia looked slightly surprised, and Ruin nodded with a faint smile.
“Yes. A precious secret just between us.”
“Dear, we’re back.”
“We’ve returned.”
After the hunt, Kavel and Ruin greeted Daisy, who welcomed them with her usual bright smile.
“You’ve worked hard. Ruin, nothing happened, right?”
“Yes, nothing at all.”
Ruin’s calm response made Daisy’s gaze sharpen slightly.
“Hmm… really nothing at all?”
“Yes, why?”
Ruin felt a twinge of caution at her sharp tone.
“What… does she know?”
But soon:
“Oh, it’s nothing. Did you catch anything?”
“Haha, today wasn’t lucky—didn’t see much. But I did catch a rabbit.”
Kavel, of course, omitted that he had shared what Brion had caught.
“Good work, both of you. Go wash up; it’s time for dinner.”
“Got it.”
“Yes.”
After Daisy’s instructions, Kavel headed to the bathroom first.
Ruin silently watched Daisy’s back.
“Strange…”
Even though everything had been done perfectly, her question about whether anything happened felt slightly off.
“Could she have… been watching me?”
Shaking his head, Ruin dismissed the thought. <Cheon-ui-Mubong>’s enhanced senses would have detected any surveillance.
“Then… maybe Sylvia?”
Although plausible, Sylvia showed no signs of betrayal or deceit. Only one possibility remained: Daisy’s instinct as a mother.
“Wait… that’s even scarier.”
Shivering slightly, Ruin dismissed the thought. No one had witnessed him hunting the injured ogre with <Cheon-ui-Mubong> today. Still…
“I need to be more careful from now on.”
Years passed like flowing water, and soon it was Ruin’s tenth birthday.
“Happy birthday, son!”
“Happy birthday, my dear Ruin.”
A small family celebration with Kavel and Daisy took place, followed by Brion and Sylvia.
“Ruin, happy birthday!”
“Congratulations on your tenth birthday, Ruin. Here’s a present.”
Brion handed Ruin a vintage-looking leather belt.
“It’s made from the hide of a bear I caught recently. High quality, so use it well.”
Ruin smiled in gratitude.
“Thank you, sir.”
“Hehe, no problem. When you become my son-in-law, you’ll get even more…”
“Brion, what did you just say?”
Daisy shot him a sharp glare. Brion sheepishly averted his eyes.
Sylvia, now twelve, watched without reacting, her charm beginning to show more maturity.
“She’s still just a cute country girl to me.”
Then Sylvia presented a flower bracelet to Ruin.
“Thanks, Sylvia. I’ll use it well.”
Daisy admired it, and Sylvia, with an innocent smile, made another bracelet for her.
“Oh my, Sylvia, I’m truly touched.”
Kavel chimed in awkwardly, and Sylvia was left empty-handed for a moment. Daisy nudged him, and they all began to eat.
Ruin, with memories of 1872 where family and love were foreign concepts, felt the warmth of this family for the first time.
“Family… huh.”
He thought of the comrades he had lost, and the lives he had taken. They must have had families, too.
“…I’m sorry.”
For the first time, he offered a sincere apology.
“No excuses. I was the reaper that drove you to death.”
Still, he reminded himself:
“…Not now. I still have things to do.”
The ultimate target: Seokgong Roben Paterion, the cause of all his past suffering.
“Once I kill him, I’ll accept any punishment for it.”
He ate Daisy’s food with quiet resolve, smiling faintly as he chewed.
“How long until I can feel this again?”
Suddenly: Knock, knock!
No one else was expected, so Kavel checked outside.
“Who could it be?”
Ruin sensed over a dozen armed people outside. Kavel and Daisy’s expressions shifted slightly.
Knock, knock, knock!
“Is anyone there?”
Brion asked Kavel about the visitor. Daisy, with a serious tone:
“Dear, go see who it is.”
Kavel approached and opened the door.
Boom!
Over a dozen people outside knelt simultaneously.
“Greetings, Lord Kavel.”
“And you are?”
Kavel was taken aback; Daisy remained stern and resolute.
“Did you come from Reinhardt?”
One of the kneeling figures spoke politely:
“We are here under the orders of the head of the Reinhardt family, to meet Miss Daisy.”
“Reinhardt’s swordsmen?”
“Dad?”
Ruin watched, understanding the seriousness.
“What brings you here?” Daisy asked coldly.
“I’ve already left the family. My father has no reason to seek me out, Seolam Daeju!”
Kavel responded sharply, knowing the visitor’s identity. Seolam Daeju knelt and continued:
“We are not here for you two.”
Ruin realized immediately—their target was him.
“Ruin?”
