Chapter 91
“Let’s head outside the cabin.”
At Enoch’s words, I looked back at Luzeph and Yuanna.
“We should quickly gather our things and move out.”
At my words, Luzeph and Yuanna nodded.
I reached out my hand toward Eunji, who was spinning nervously on the floor. As if she had been waiting for this, she climbed up my arm and wrapped herself around me.
Enoch’s party formed a battle line, and Asdal gestured toward us. He held up the bow and arrows Kaiden had made and said,
“I’ll follow shortly as well.”
I nodded at Asdal and, together with Luzeph, climbed the sloped hill that overlooked the cabin.
Yuanna quickly climbed a tree standing between the hill and the open space in front of the cabin.
“They’re coming. Ban-hwang, get ready.”
Asdal spoke to Enoch. That guy… always starting things. Enoch, however, didn’t respond and simply drew his sword.
As expected, a group of wolf-type monsters emerged from the bushes.
I had thought this cabin was a sacred, untouchable place, but that belief had been shattered. Now, I could abandon it without any regrets.
Seeing Enoch ready his sword, I raised my ringed hand and released my magic toward the monsters.
At the same time, sparks flew from Enoch’s sword as he swung it toward the monsters. It was a sword energy strike.
Luzeph, sitting beside me, looked at me in surprise. But I had no time to answer his question.
Enoch seemed to have realized it was my doing, but he didn’t look back at me.
Pop!
The sharp sparks from the sword split the air, flying through the wolf monster group in a dazzling flash.
Boom!
The ground shook, a massive plume of smoke rose, and the monsters’ screams mixed into a chaotic scene.
When the smoke cleared, the ground was littered with the corpses of monsters.
No need for analyzing attack patterns. The sword strike was so powerful that my magic drained rapidly from my body, causing me to stagger.
Luzeph caught me around the waist and lifted me up.
“I thought you couldn’t control your magic well.”
Hanging onto him, I laughed.
“I just wanted to surprise everyone.”
“You definitely did. But don’t use that again. You might collapse.”
I nodded and, supported by him, managed to get back on my feet.
“What the… Margaret. Even if you gave me that magic, I could’ve taken them out in one hit.”
When had Kaiden even appeared? He crossed his arms and muttered in front of me.
“You absorbed the magic I spilled midway and warped here.”
Is that even possible? I looked at Kaiden in shock, and he noticed my gaze and laughed.
“I’m the greatest mage of this era, you know.”
He winked at me and continued talking.
Just then, I sensed a chilling movement behind me.
“Oh… it seems to be an orangutan-type monster.”
Luzeph’s awkward voice came from behind. In the clearing in front of the cabin, the others were cleaning up monster corpses and keeping watch on the surroundings.
“Ah, that one’s my natural enemy.”
Kaiden muttered in annoyance. I followed his gaze and carefully turned my head.
A massive orangutan had appeared behind the hill where we were sitting.
Kaiden’s displeasure at the orangutan’s appearance was understandable. This was the same monster that had severely injured him before.
I pulled a flare from my crossbody bag, reloaded it, and cocked my hammer.
“Bishop, Kaiden. Step back a little, please.”
“As expected, Margaret, you’re reliable.”
I slowly aimed the flare at the approaching orangutan monster.
Just as I was about to pull the trigger…
Eunji, who had been clinging to my arm, twirled around above the flare and opened her mouth wide toward the orangutan.
A tiny spark appeared from her mouth and erupted into a massive column of fire.
The orangutan was struck directly and flew far away, crashing into a cliff.
The flames roared, consuming the monster’s body.
“W-what…”
I froze in shock. Eunji exhaled sharply, proud, and turned to look at me.
Even with her small body, she was an incredible powerhouse.
But the real problem was what came next.
“Miss Flone, watch out! More orangutans are coming! Asdal! Wolves are also heading your way!”
I had no idea when Yuanna had climbed the tree, but she was nearly at the top, shouting at us.
Asdal, too, had taken position in the tree, drawing his bow at the wolves rushing toward Enoch and Diego.
“Yeah. I knew this wouldn’t end here.”
Kaiden muttered leisurely, as usual.
“Wouldn’t it be better for you to stay down there? It’s enough with just me and Luzeph here.”
“I have nothing to do, my lady.”
I said, and Luzeph whispered with a lack of confidence,
“Why nothing? If you get hurt, I’ll need to carry you off and heal you. That’s the most important role.”
At my words, Luzeph clamped his mouth shut and stared at me with teary eyes.
“Do we have time for that?”
Kaiden, refusing to allow the warm atmosphere, drew his daggers.
“It’s fine over there. One prince is enough to handle it.”
Kaiden was right. Diego and Asdal were there, and with ranged attacks supporting, that side was actually more stable.
I swallowed hard as I saw the massive forms approaching through the dust from afar.
“Kaiden, here’s the plan. I have long-range weapons, and you handle close combat. Since the bombs and flares are powerful, we’ll use them first and then proceed with melee attacks.”
Kaiden nodded, looking at the orangutans gathering slowly in the distance.
“You can’t use magic anymore? One spell and it’s over.”
“I overdid it the first time. I poured too much magic into Enoch and exhausted it all.”
Now, I could easily gauge how much residual magic I had left.
“Alright, then. Let’s do it your way.”
Kaiden stood up, daggers in hand. He twirled them skillfully before taking a stance.
Eunji squirmed, clinging to my arm.
“Stay still this time. I have a plan.”
I peeked at her and said,
“We’ll coordinate next time. Seems like we need that for you and me.”
Not sure if she understood, Eunji stuck her tongue out and tilted her head.
Anyway, I held a loaded flare in one hand and pulled out a firebomb with the other.
“When I throw this, everyone duck. You could get hurt otherwise.”
Kaiden crouched, and Luzeph was already flat on the ground.
I pulled the safety pin, threw the bomb into the approaching monsters, and hit the ground.
Kaboom!
A massive explosion, dust rising, blue blood spouting. The monsters’ blood colors varied.
I quickly rose to fire the flare, but the orangutans were faster than expected.
Thump thump thump thump!
Two orangutans were suddenly right in front of me.
“F**k.”
Panicking, I kicked Luzeph aside and pushed Kaiden away with my hands.
I was hit by the orangutan’s fists and tumbled down the hill.
“Ugh.”
It hurt… I might have broken a rib this time.
“Margaret!”
Enoch, who had been swinging his sword in the wolf pack, rushed down the hill and caught me.
I had no idea how he moved so fast—it was incredible mobility.
“Ugh… thank you.”
But the shock from being caught added to the pain in my chest.
Still, I had no time to be lazy, using injury as an excuse.
