Chapter 83
“Damn it, what the hell are you doing?”
Kaiden’s expression immediately twisted in displeasure at that chilling sensation, but Yuanna showed no hesitation.
“Well… I don’t know either, really.”
Then, burying her face in his shoulder, she let out a suggestive breath. The hot, damp exhalation brushed against his skin.
“Damn it.”
Kaiden frowned deeply and roughly pushed Yuanna away. He couldn’t bear the feeling any longer.
“Don’t do something like this. Just because you’re a saint doesn’t mean I’ll tolerate it.”
“If you just… touch a little… it seems to help, Lord. Please, just stay still… It’s not like it’ll wear out.”
Yuanna, with a vacant gaze, slowly approached him.
Flustered, Kaiden crossed his arms over his chest to defend himself and shouted,
“It will wear out! Damn it, it’ll wear out!”
‘I’m about to just throw her away!’
Kaiden hastily stepped back, struggling to suppress the urge to abandon both of them. Yet doing so might make Margaret distrust and hate him.
‘The Crown Prince is already trying to monopolize Margaret, which pisses me off enough. I absolutely can’t let that happen.’
Sighing, Kaiden sat down and draped his arm around Yuanna, who was sobbing violently.
“Help me, Lord.”
But this time, Diego drew his sword and started spouting nonsense.
“Why don’t you say that after putting your sword away?”
Kaiden nimbly jumped to avoid Diego’s sword as it cut through the air. The sword landed in the spot where he had been standing just moments ago.
‘That crazy bastard.’
Swallowing his curse, Kaiden glared at Diego.
“My whole body’s burning up. Please… do something for me, Lord.”
Diego furrowed his brow in anguish, tears streaming down his face.
“Lord, I… too…”
Yuanna, cradled in Kaiden’s arms, twisted her body in discomfort, sniffling as tears fell. Her entire body felt as if it were on fire.
“I’m seriously losing it! How the hell am I supposed to help you! Shut the hell up!”
At that moment, Diego lunged again. Kaiden leapt onto a fallen tree trunk to dodge Diego’s sword.
Dodging Diego’s repeated swings while holding Yuanna was no easy task. Eventually, Kaiden struck the back of her neck to knock her unconscious and laid her on the ground.
As if waiting for this moment, Diego swung at him again. Kaiden hastily raised a dagger to block the longsword.
Unsurprisingly, the dagger chipped under the brutal force. While Kaiden had superior raw strength, he couldn’t match Diego’s swordsmanship with the longsword.
Kaiden finally grabbed a sturdy tree branch and, aiming for Diego’s head, managed to knock him out and wrap the branch around him.
Carrying a fallen adult male, especially a muscular knight, wasn’t easy—but for Kaiden, it was no problem. In sheer physical power, he was roughly on par with Enoch.
Of course, without magic, he could never actually defeat Enoch.
Kaiden carried Diego up a tall tree trunk and tied him securely.
If he didn’t want to die from the fall, he’d have to endure the discomfort and not struggle.
Returning to the ground after tying Diego, Kaiden noticed that Yuanna had already woken up.
“Damn it, why did you wake up so quickly?”
Kaiden muttered irritably.
“Lord…”
Yuanna frowned in distress, tears streaming down her face as she called to him.
Her expression was mesmerizing, capable of captivating anyone in an instant. Kaiden could understand why Diego would forsake Enoch just to cling to her.
But it didn’t work on Kaiden. He looked at Yuanna with indifference, thinking,
‘I should tie her up in the tree with Diego.’
Hoisting Yuanna over one shoulder, he climbed the massive tree where Diego was suspended.
He placed Yuanna onto a higher branch above the unconscious Diego and tied her securely to the tree.
Once the task was complete, he easily jumped down.
Clang.
Diego’s longsword brushed against Kaiden’s foot.
Bending down, Kaiden picked it up and examined it carefully. The hilt was engraved with a lion and lily, symbols of the Langrid Empire’s royal guard.
“I should’ve brought a weapon too.”
There were many magical tools that could be used even without channeling mana. Even having one would’ve made things as useful as Diego’s sword.
Kaiden sighed and leaned against the tree trunk, sitting heavily.
‘I’m dying to use magic.’
Then, the possibilities on this island would be limitless.
Leaning against the tree and staring at the sky, he noticed the moon unusually bright above the dim night.
“Ha… I’m exhausted. I wonder if Margaret’s alright.”
The red flower that caused Yuanna and Diego’s episode wouldn’t only bloom where they were. That meant it could bloom wherever Margaret was…
‘Please don’t tell me Margaret became like a saint too.’
Kaiden stood up, his face clouded with worry. Imagining Margaret, like Yuanna, breathing heavily in a state of agitation, made his face flush.
‘Have I gone mad? This isn’t sexual frustration or anything.’
He frowned and roughly ran his hands through his hair.
“Damn it. Wait—if Margaret reacts that way, the Crown Prince will be right next to her.”
‘What kind of screwed-up situation is this?!’
Everything was just speculation and assumption, yet he couldn’t hold back his anger.
If Margaret ended up in his arms, he was certain he wouldn’t refuse her!
“Damn it. Even if she hates me, I’d stay in the cabin!”
Kaiden tore at his hair in frustration, trying to swallow his irritation.
