Chapter 26…
The Sunfire Princess Finds Her Role.
Carrying the freshly made canelés, Felicia headed toward the dining room, where Yoan, just waking up, was sitting and gazing absentmindedly out the window. He seemed to have gotten up earlier than usual this morning, though not as early as yesterday.
A profile as beautiful as a work of art created by the gods.
His defenseless appearance, still not fully awake, gripped her heart.
Yoan noticed her and gave a soft, gentle smile.
“Good morning, Felicia.”
Bathed in the soft light streaming through the window, Yoan looked divine, yet his slightly sleepy expression softened the usual sharp perfection of his beauty.
(C-cute…)
Her chest tightened, and her heartbeat surged. A flawless person in a defenseless state was dangerous for the heart.
“Good morning, Your Highness Yoan.”
Trying desperately to hide her agitation, she greeted him calmly.
(Feeling ‘cute’ toward an older man, and a royal at that… I must be losing my mind…)
Her ears burned. She worried whether her face had turned red or if the sound of her racing heart could be heard. Standing in front of Yoan, she was confused by this unfamiliar side of herself appearing one after another.
“What’s this?”
Yoan asked, looking at Felicia who was holding the plate of canelés.
“Uh, this is… um…”
She couldn’t hide her nervousness at all. Even when she had stood in front of many people as the crown prince’s fiancée, she had never lost her words like this.
“Your Highness, these are canelés made by Felicia for you,”
Hugo said, seeing Felicia struggling to find her words.
“Felicia got up early and said she wanted to do something for you. Her skill was wonderful,”
“She… Felicia… made this for me?”
Yoan’s eyes widened as he looked at the canelés. Seeing his eyes shine, it was clear that he loved sweets.
(Ah, what if he doesn’t like them? Was canelé really okay?)
Even though she had confirmed with Hugo in advance and had him taste them as well, Felicia was overwhelmed with anxiety.
“May I eat it?”
Tilting his head slightly, Yoan looked up at her, his innocent expression incredibly disarming.
“Of, of course… Ah, but maybe after breakfast would be—”
“No matter,”
Yoan immediately took a canelé. Instantly, his expression lit up.
“──Delicious. I’ve never had anything this good.”
He let out a contented sigh, his face filled with bliss. His words and expressions, pure and unpretentious like a child, revealed his genuine feelings. It seemed he liked them.
“I’m glad it suits your taste…”
Felicia blushed deeply and looked down. Every expression of his captivated her heart, making it feel as if her chest could burst.
“Can I eat all of this?”
Oblivious to the storm raging in Felicia’s heart, Yoan, unable to hide his delight, alternated his gaze between the canelés and Felicia. The fearsome, elegant, and flawless demon king was nowhere to be seen.
“Yes, it’s all yours, Your Highness. But perhaps you should enjoy the rest after breakfast,”
Hugo replied on behalf of the overwhelmed Felicia.
“That’s true. It would be a waste to eat it all at once,”
Yoan nodded obediently and took the plate of canelés from Felicia.
“Thank you, Felicia. I’ve always wanted to see you making sweets and taste them someday. My wish has come true.”
Yoan’s smile was heartfelt, and Felicia felt her chest tighten even more. If he could be this happy, she wanted to see this expression every day.
“A wish… that’s… From now on, I’ll make sweets for you every day, Your Highness!”
Blushing, she timidly raised her face to him.
“Really? I’m very much looking forward to it.”
“To think that the confectionery tools I bought for my fantasies would finally see the light of day… I feel deeply moved in many ways,”
Hugo nodded repeatedly, delighted as he watched the two of them.
