Chapter 25…
The Princess of Heat Haze Finds Her Role.
Felicia had heard that after using a lot of magic power, Yoann often craved something sweet. So, she began flipping through the pages of recipes in her mind.
She liked making sweets — it let her forget about everything else and focus entirely on the task, and when she shared what she made, her father and younger brother were always delighted. The household servants also looked forward to it; whenever Felicia baked, she would share with everyone. Her stepmother and stepsister, however, always avoided her sweets, saying they would make them gain weight.
Since Yoann liked to nibble on sweets during training or while reading, she decided to bake small canelés for him. Hugo had said that they usually bought sweets from town, but for some reason, the kitchen was fully equipped — not just with the basic tools, but with everything one might find in a proper pastry shop.
Felicia worked through the familiar steps, her hands moving automatically as she waited for the canelés to bake.
As she cleaned up, her thoughts naturally drifted to Yoann.
His presence was the very image of cold, refined beauty — he carried an air that kept people at a distance, and every movement he made was graceful enough to mesmerize.
But when he smiled, it stirred her heart in a bewitching way, and when those beautiful ruby eyes looked into hers, her chest would tighten.
Being near him made her feel as though something vast and powerful was protecting her.
Though he spoke plainly, there was always a quiet kindness behind his words.
And when that low, sweet voice spoke to her—
Clatter!
Her hand slipped, and Felicia gasped. At the same time, her face grew hot.
(W–What am I thinking…)
She couldn’t believe she had let herself get so carried away just by thinking of someone.
(Pull yourself together, Felicia.)
Taking a deep breath as if to scold herself, she forced her attention back to cleaning.
Just as the canelés finished baking, Hugo came to call for her.
“Lord Yoann has woken up. He’s waiting for you in the dining room.”
Yoann’s magic was said to grow even stronger at night, when he poured his power into maintaining the protective barrier around the kingdom.
That was why his mornings were usually late.
Realizing that he had woken up early yesterday just for her, Felicia once again felt her heart grow restless.
