~Chapter 100~Ā
āThereās no turning back now. Get it together.ā
Harriet took a deep breath to steel herselfāonly for Tez to lean in and whisper against her ear.
āYou look absolutely enchanting tonight. I imagine youāll be quite popular.ā
She nearly laughed. Of course, heād say thatāsheād styled herself like Bella. Of course, a man like Tez would be attracted to a woman like her.
Silently, she reached up and removed his hand from her hair.
āI donāt plan on entertaining just anyone,ā she said coolly. āNot even you.ā
āDonāt worry,ā he replied smoothly. āOne unbreakable rule on the ship is that no woman is ever touched without her consent.ā
Still, he clearly thought sheād come here to indulgeājust like the others.
āHeās going to be a problem. I need to lose him as soon as I canā¦ā
Her stomach twisted with anxiety as they waited for the boarding to begin.
Soon, the warehouse was packedāwall to wall with people. Harriet could barely believe that so many nobles had gathered here for mystery drugs and sexual games.
Then came the announcement.
āBoarding will begin now. Once aboard, weāll gather briefly at 1, 3, 5, and 7 a.m. for the departure process. Please keep track of the time if you plan to return early.ā
Several people chuckled at that.
Harriet turned to Tez with a questioning look.
āNo one leaves before the final stop at 7 a.m.ā
āBut⦠the other times, the ship will arrive at the port, right?ā
āYes. If you feel unwell or uncomfortable at any point, let someone know. Iāll escort you back myself.ā
āI wouldnāt want to interrupt if youāre⦠having fun. If Iām not around by 7, just assume I left earlier.ā
Tez stared at her for a beatāthen gave a slow, amused nod.
As people began boarding, the line moved efficiently. Soon, Harriet found herself stepping onto the ship with Tez.
From the outside, it looked like an oversized passenger ferry.
Inside, it was a den of extravagance.
A grand ballroom with a stage at the center. Dozens of private rooms. Lavish services. Music playing nonstop. Stylishly dressed dancers at every corner. Male and female attendants dressed in clothes so short they barely covered anything.
āSo this is what wickedness looks like.ā
The place felt like a literal description of the lustful hell described in sacred texts.
She shivered.
But the others seemed unfazedāchatting and laughing, accepting drinks from attendants without hesitation.
Tez returned with two glasses and handed one to her.
āA toast?ā
āā¦Is it just alcohol?ā
āOf course not.ā
He grinned and downed his drink in a single gulp.
Within secondsāthree, four at mostāhis gaze shifted. It grew heavier, darker.
āIf I refuse, heāll get suspicious.ā
She hadnāt expected the drug to come this quickly.
āWhat do I do? I didnāt think theyād push it this wayā¦ā
Her chest tightened.
Even Cedric Kailasāso perfectly composedāhad lost his cool after taking this. There was no way someone like her, with far less control, could drink it and stay sane.
So she held the glass, pretending interest in the decor as she delayed.
āIād like to get a feel for the ship before I lose my bearings. Wouldnāt want to get lost on board.ā
āHaha! Just ask any attendant where the āMain Hallā is and theyāll bring you back here.ā
āWhat about the restrooms?ā
āSee those upside-down triangle signs? Those are restrooms. The public bedrooms are that way, the private ones are this way. One terrace below, youāll find⦠more specialized tools and spaces.ā
He rattled it all off like a tour guideācutting off every potential escape route.
Then, chuckling softly, he brushed his fingers against her earlobe.
āThereās only a little Angelique in that drink. Just enough to lift your mood. Nothing too seriousādonāt worry.ā
Harrietās spine stiffened.
He could tell she was hesitatingāand was trying to lure her further in.
āDonāt worry,ā he added. āThe welcome drink only contains a small amount. Itās too expensive to be handed out freely. If you want moreāthe kind that actually āworksāāyou buy it from those people in black.ā
āW-whatās the price?ā
āMore than what youād pay outside. A hundred dirhams per pill. Itās included in the overall cost of the party, really. But you donāt have to worry about that.ā
He lifted her hand gently.
A mark still gleamed on her skināstamped there by the attendant before boarding.
āFirst-time female guests drink for free.ā
āSo thatās what the āvery expensiveā stamp was forā¦ā
She forced a weak smile.
At this point, she couldnāt refuse without making a scene.
āFine. Just a little. Iāll be fine.ā
Trusting Tezās wordājust for nowāHarriet tilted the glass and drank.
The taste was pleasantāfragrant and sweet.
But for someone who rarely drank, even the smallest amount was enough. Her body felt like it had taken off from the ground.
āHaaā¦ā
Tez caught the change in her breath instantly. He wrapped an arm around her waist.
āEven your sighs are seductive.ā
He was leading her somewhere. She couldnāt resist. Her steps followed hisāslow and light.
āYou said⦠it was only a littleā¦ā she murmured, her last act of resistance.
Tez chuckled.
āOnly a little for me. For someone with no experience⦠you might feel it more than expected.ā
āLiarā¦ā
āI didnāt lie. But if it makes you feel better, I apologizeāHarriet.ā
He leaned ināclose enough that she thought he might kiss her.
That single wordākissāsnapped something back into focus.
She thought of Cedric.
That voice. The heat in his breath. The low, trembling laughter that once echoed against her lips.
āWhat the hell am I doing?ā
Sheād nearly let herself fall for Tezās charm.
That realization jolted her.
Straightening her spine, she gently but firmly pushed him away.
āIn that case⦠should we part ways here?ā
āHa! Getting rid of me already?ā
āWith a clear head like this⦠itād be a bit embarrassing, you know.ā
Sheād caught him off guard. He hadnāt expected her to resistānot now.
But Tez was an experienced womanizer. He didnāt let it show.
Instead, he laughed and released her with grace.
āHahaha! Very well. If you change your mind, Iāll be in that room. Even if someone else is with meādonāt hesitate. Iāll send them away for you.ā
The thought made her stomach turnābut she smiled and nodded, backing away slowly.
Once he vanished into the crowd, she pulled herself behind a column near the servant corridor and let out a long, shaky breath.
āGod⦠I underestimated this.ā
It hadnāt even been that long since she boardedābut already, people were lining up in front of the men in black, buying pills like they were candy.
And thenājust popping them in with their drinks.
All around her, people were collapsing into plush cushions, giggling, gasping, and moaning.
āWhen are they going to bring out the brooch?ā
Her heart pounded.
Sheād separated from Tez. Now she had to stay hidden and wait for the brooch to be presented as a prize.
If she couldnāt win it, she at least needed to see who did.
āItāll probably happen on that stage. I need to stay close⦠but out of sight.ā
She thought the hardest part would be winning the prize.
She was wrong.
What followed was a living nightmare.
All around her, people began shedding their last remains of shame. She was forced to witness increasingly lewd, unthinkable acts.
āKyahaha!ā
āYah! Yah!ā
āAhn! MmāAh!ā
āHhāHhā¦ā
āUgh! Aha!ā
The sounds were animalisticāgroaning, squealing, and panting.
This ship was hell. The lowest circle.
āGod, please⦠protect me in this den of sin. Let me leave unharmed.ā
Harriet squeezed her eyes shut, turning her head away, reciting a prayer in her mind.
Time dragged on. Every second felt like an hour.
The drug in her drink lingered, refusing to fade.
Her body itched. Her heartbeat quickened. Her gaze kept drifting to scenes she didnāt want to see.
āWhen will this wear offā¦?ā
Her lips went dry. And thenāmemories rushed forth. Ones she had buried deep.
āDonāt go. Stay with me.ā
āYou want this too, donāt you?ā
Cedricās voice. His breath against her skin. The delicious heat of his lips. The low, thrilling laughter that rattled her bones.
āThis is insane.ā
She clenched her teeth hard, fighting to stay grounded.
