Been trying for 3 months… nothing’s working… my little brother is playing with his eyes closed now.

You must be close with your little brother.
ㄴThanks (Author)
There’s a specific condition for spear soldiers to spawn. Depends on the 3rd-floor monster. 011010101010111001110110 Make sure to follow it.
ㄴIf I break even one part of the condition, they won’t spawn? (Author)
ㄴYep.
What do you mean, playing with his eyes closed lol

This is how you trigger spear soldiers.

The curse priest always spawns with them. If they mark one of your allies and you can’t lift the curse, that ally stays in a weakened state.
I get spear soldiers all the time, haha.

My brother once made me repeat the same game over and over for months.
I didn’t even know much about the game—it was repetitive, mindless grinding. I thought he was just being weird again.
Like in RPGs, where item options are random, and he’d make me farm the same monster endlessly to get a specific drop.
Or run the same map on loop to trigger a hidden character.
I hadn’t thought much of those memories, but all of it came flooding back with that one post.
Actually—no, I don’t want to remember it.
I closed the memory of turning on the computer with no one else around and reading those posts.
Anyway, spear soldiers have long range.
You’d think swords are the strongest, but spears have range and less weight, making them harder to approach.
That said, most of their attacks are thrusts. Unless the spear has a blade like an axe-spear, it’s hard to swing.
Even axe-spears are vulnerable if you get inside the blade’s range and they can’t counter.
“A cursed mark that causes weakness,” huh.
I think I’ve heard of it. But I couldn’t recall the details clearly.
Maybe it’s because of my drastically low health.
To balance the scales, I guess.
Either way, a group of spear soldiers charging forward is hard to block.
And the curse priest supposedly appears right in the middle of the spear soldiers.
“So it was a spear,” Duke Kyle said as he looked at the weapon embedded in the wall and turned around.
“I’ll see you later, Lady April. Be sure to get that wrist treated properly.”
Judging by his quick pace, he was probably going to check on Eveline.
Not long after Duke Kyle disappeared, I heard a system alert.
[Affection with Slave Knight Yurell has slightly decreased.]
What the hell. I’m not even trying to romance him. Still, seeing it drop right after Kyle left felt kind of bad.
Sian was looking outside.
“Lady April, I’m probably not going to be much help. I’ll be honest. The spirit summoners out there were far stronger than I am. That faction… it reeks of mixed miasma and strange energy. And judging by that spear, they probably have a spear master too. Like you.”
Though I’m not sure if the axe-spear counts as a “thrusting” spear.
Sian kept fidgeting, uneasy.
Then, as if joking, he asked me,
“If it gets too hard—if you’re scared or overwhelmed by fighting them… should we just run away?”
“…Huh? Um, run where? Why would we run?”
“Just run. Keep moving through the reverse world. This place doesn’t have hunger, thirst—no human bodily needs. Time is frozen. I haven’t even grown a beard since arriving. The others will find their way out eventually. When they’re gone and no longer looking for us… we can leave too…”
Sian kept rambling, face pale.
He was babbling like someone losing his mind—until his eyes suddenly lit up with realization.
“Sorry. Never mind. It’s nothing. I just wanted to wish you good luck in battle.”
“April is strong! I’ll do my best!”
I smiled brightly.
The Crown Prince’s affection goes up when I act cheerful like this, but Sian’s expression just darkened.
“If I ever…”
“…Yes?”
I turned to him.
“…No, never mind.”
Sian didn’t say it.
Maybe if he had, my next choice might have been different.
Our conclusion might have changed. The ending Sian once reached could have been different, too.
But Sian didn’t say it.
That’s my conclusion.
And so, Sian let me go.

“Is she insane?”
Eveline had climbed the opposite tower and spotted April wandering around alone. She scowled.
“What’s wrong?”
“Lady April is walking around by herself. It’s like she’s going out to war alone. Why aren’t that girl and the Crown Prince with her?”
Eveline didn’t notice Max—who was trying to avoid her, scared as usual.
The monster siege had begun.
These seven towers.
Long ago, a thousand years ago, when demons first invaded, all mansion doors were sealed shut, and these towers were built to stop the demons from entering the main gate.
When the monsters came, she stepped forward first.
Naturally—because she’s a noble.
She had pride. Nobles go first.
Though, to be honest, deep down she didn’t expect low-borns to be capable of much anyway.
Eveline believed in leaving her fate in her own hands—not someone else’s.
“Maybe the Crown Prince and Lady Yeniel returned to the mansion,” Duke Kyle said with a shrug.
“Why?”
“I saw them from afar, fighting the spirit summoners. When one of them started coughing up blood, they stopped fighting.”
“So they bailed and retreated into the mansion?”
“Probably.”
Eveline scowled.
Duke Kyle realized Eveline had figured out everything.
Just like when the Crown Prince gathered everyone into a strategy meeting—his group, including Yeniel, had a strong instinct to become the center of attention and draw people in.
Sometimes that’s a strength. Sometimes it’s an awful flaw.
And for someone like April, it’s the worst.
“Ah. So even if he looks like a bastard, he thinks controlling the banquet survivors is more important.”
Typical manipulation. Eveline had seen it too many times.
Yeniel Genes always used this kind of moral balancing—putting everything on a scale and choosing the heavier side.
If it came down to the worst and the lesser evil, she would always choose the lesser evil, acknowledging both as evil but with no emotional attachment.
By now, that group was probably acting like the saviors of the banquet survivors, who were confused and panicking.
“They can go to hell.”
And… Eveline’s wish came true.
At that very moment, a Weakness Mark appeared on the Crown Prince inside the banquet hall—
and one also appeared on Eveline herself.
