Episode 07

From Master to Disciple

One of the “Seven Calamities” that had once driven the master’s homeworld to the brink of destruction—

Sillamantis, the colossal serpent-like monster, possessed an ability that no mage would ever wish to face.

It absorbed any attack directed at its body… And adapted to it.

And until that adaptation was complete, it could regenerate its shattered form hundreds—no, thousands—of times.

Because of this, an archmage who had once faced defeat against Sillamantis left behind a single piece of advice for future generations—

“Never use the same type of spell twice. Attack endlessly with new magic.”

The problem was simple.

That strategy was only possible in theory.

To even harm a monster of that scale required at least 8th-circle magic—the highest tier. And even reaching the 7th circle was enough to be called an archmage.

A level of magic so difficult that even the most gifted geniuses could master only one such spell in their lifetime.

Casting hundreds—thousands—of such spells?

Impossible.

At least… under normal circumstances.

“Yes… impossible by normal means. After all, wizard are creatures who would rather burn down their own towers than share their research.”

As Minastrias unleashed yet another 8th-circle spell, memories of her master surfaced.

To stop the destruction of the world… To hunt a monster that was the natural enemy of all mages—

Her predecessors had made a decision.

A mage who had not left the 290th floor of the Ivory Tower for over seventy years… Stepped outside to teach disciples.

Masters of black magic—once hunted and executed on sight— Joined hands with those who once hunted them.

All for one purpose—

To create a “Super Archmage” capable of wielding over a thousand 8th-circle spells.

Elemental magic. Black magic. White magic. Illusion, arcane, dimensional magic. Blood magic, necromancy, alchemy, spirit summoning—

Every discipline.

All knowledge.

All gathered… and poured into a single chosen genius.

And at last—

They succeeded.

The Demon King.

A being who wielded over twenty systems of magic freely. A living grimoire.

And Minastrias—

She was the 21st successor to that title.

But her master—the 20th—had once told her something shocking.

“With our current methods… Sillamantis cannot be defeated.”

Even with over 400 high-tier spells at her command—

Victory was impossible.

“Even if you use a thousand spells… if you cannot kill it in one blow, it will simply revive—with resistance to all thousand.”

That was the truth.

Magic alone… could not win.

“Then what can defeat it?”

“…Perhaps… if there existed a mad genius who could create endless new 8th-circle spells in real time.”

A fantasy.

An impossibility.

And so she searched.

Across every race. Every land.

For that genius.

But none appeared—

Until she arrived on Earth.

“Master… if you tweak this part of the random teleport formula, couldn’t you assign coordinates directly? It would consume less mana than the higher spell.”

A boy.

Who had never used magic once.

Corrected her spell.

And was right.

“Perhaps… this child can do it.”

She regretted it.

If only she had more time—

She could have made him the greatest mage in history.

Greater than herself.

And so—

She made her decision.

“What a master must give to a disciple…
And what a disciple must achieve.”

She would buy time.

While her disciple worked part-time jobs to support them both—

She devoted everything to creating a spell.

A spell to seal Sillamantis.

Even without mana.

Even without proof it would work.

And she reached a conclusion.

Two ultimate magics—

  • “Summon of the Predecessors”

  • “Existence Seal”

“Summon all Demon Kings… push Sillamantis to its limits…
And seal it while it regenerates.”

Around her—

The past Demon Kings unleashed hell.

Reality burned. Space shattered. Logic collapsed.

Magic denied the very laws of existence.

And behind them—

Minastrias completed her final spell.

“I know… a seal alone cannot stop it.”

The Existence Seal—an 11th-circle spell—

Could erase a being from all parallel worlds.

But even that…

Could only delay Sillamantis.

And yet—

She smiled.

“That will be enough.”

Because she believed.

In her disciple.

“If it’s him… he will create the spell to kill it.”

And just as she believed—

Seongjun was already breaking her spell.

* * *

“…Damn. This is insanely complicated.”

The seal binding him—

Was beyond anything he had ever seen.

One mistake—

And the entire structure would rebuild itself.

Pain tore through his head.

His vision blurred.

His brain screamed.

But he couldn’t stop.

Because hidden within the spell—

Were clues.

Guidance.

“You can do this.”

It felt like her voice.

“Just a little more…”

Understanding magic meant understanding intent.

Every spell reflected its creator.

And finally—

He understood.

“…This isn’t a seal.”

“It’s a protection spell.”

A spell cast upon something precious.

Something worth dying for.

“The stronger the love… the harder it is to break.”

And ironically—

The easiest way to break it…

Was to match that love.

“…And I love you more, Master.”

Crack.

Shatter.

The golden light turned—

Soft pink.

And then—

CRASH!!!

The spell shattered.

Seongjun burst free—

And looked ahead.

There—

Was his master.

Weaker.

Older.

Broken.

“MASTERRRR!!!”

He teleported—

Without thinking.

But before the spell completed—

She turned.

“…Goodbye.”

And then—

Five massive black shadows erupted from her body—

And swallowed the monster whole.

“KRAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

For the first time—

Sillamantis screamed.

In true agony.

The shadows consumed it.

No matter how it struggled—

It was being erased.

“…It’s being deleted?”

Not destroyed.

Not broken.

“Erased from reality itself…”

Like a god’s eraser—

Removing existence.

And then—

A flash.

A contradiction.

A “black light.”

And in that impossible moment—

The monster—

Vanished.

Without a trace.

Along with—

The twenty Demon Kings.

And then—

From the empty sky—

Like a falling leaf—

Her body fell.

Silently.
