Chapter 10
“What… what?”
“What’s he saying? That kid?”
Everyone froze at the incomprehensible shout.
Crash—!!
A foreign, violent noise cut in.
WEE-OO— WEE-OO—
An alarm blared madly, signaling an intruder.
“What the f**k— what is that?”
At Daeho’s curse, Yuseong’s eyes flew open.
The main building’s window was smashed to pieces and—
“…!”
Kwon Suhyeok stood there, staring straight at her, iron baseball bat in hand.
Her husband—who had become her husband just moments ago—was standing right there.
A jet-black three-piece suit, perfectly slicked-back hair with pomade, and a black mask.
“I’m here, honey.”
The man who came running the moment he was called smiled with crescent eyes.
“It’s my first time visiting the in-laws, so I got nervous and misjudged my strength.”
Beyond the balcony frame—where glass used to exist—more than a dozen guards lay motionless on the ground.
Suhyeok had taken them down without anyone noticing.
Wearing half-leather gloves and holding the bat, he clicked his tongue as he looked over the wrecked living room.
“What— what the hell! Get that bastard—!”
Daeho’s right-hand man lunged forward immediately, drawing a knife toward Suhyeok—
Thud—! Clang!
A strange sound—one that shouldn’t come from a human skull—rang out, and the man and his knife rolled across the floor.
“Hiiik!”
At the grotesque scene, Oh Yuna stumbled backward, trembling in terror.
With an expression as emotionless as stone, Suhyeok lowered the bat.
Then he focused on the bodyguards who had been instinctively protecting Yuseong.
“You guys. Come over here.”
The three men blinked, faces twisted in confusion.
Out of nowhere? Who even is this guy??
Suchul, who was shielding Madam Seosan, stepped in front of Yuseong, wary.
“We don’t even know who you are. What on earth makes you think—”
“H-He’s my husband!”
At Yuseong’s whisper, the men turned their heads with dumbfounded expressions.
“…Sorry? What?”
“Miss… did we mishear?”
“I know it makes no sense, but he really is my husband. Come this way.”
She stepped ahead of them and, instead, pulled them along.
‘What’s going on?’
‘Don’t know.’
Dragged away like confused puppies, they remained dazed.
Suhyeok smiled when he saw Yuseong beside him, then pointed at Oh Daeho.
“There’s no time for introductions, so move. First, beat that bastard until he’s not dead but close.”
The one he pointed to was Daeho.
“And deal with the rest of the pests while you’re at it.”
“…Y-Yes, sir.”
They had no idea what was going on, but the situation was urgent. The three men nodded.
At least their goal—protecting Yuseong—was the same.
“On three. One, two—”
—Three.
At the end of Suhyeok’s count, raw roars erupted from all directions.
“You sons of bitches—!”
“Die, you f**kers!”
A full-on brawl exploded inside the house.
“Block them, you idiots!”
“Kyaah! F**k—get away! G-Go away!!”
Weapons flew, blood splattered, screams and groans overlapped—
“Hup!”
“Y-You— uwaaagh!”
Thud.
Suhyeok knocked down an attacker who flew toward them and sat casually on the sofa armrest, expression unchanging.
Then he scolded the trembling Yuseong.
“What were you planning to do if I didn’t show up? You almost turned me into a widower. Huh?”
His tone was picking a fight, but she was already used to it because of Byeongo. Calming her pounding heart, she replied evenly.
“…Were you worried about me?”
For a moment, he was struck speechless.
“Thank you for coming. I knew you would, Mr. Kwon Suhyeok.”
“Ha. Little brat, playing the adult, huh.”
Yuseong beamed and pointed to the blood-stained bat in his hand.
“Give me that.”
“…This?”
She nodded.
Her eyes were so earnest he eventually handed it over with a suspicious look.
Yuseong took the bat and began walking straight toward the ongoing brawl.
“…Shin Yuseong. Where are you going.”
The little girl clutched the handle tightly and walked without crying.
Her destination—right in front of her uncle, moments before he was about to be hit.
“Wait.”
Her sudden appearance made the twins panic.
“Miss, it’s too dangerous! Please step back!”
“Changmin! Escort the young lady out!”
Despite their frantic protests, Yuseong walked right up to Daeho and met his eyes.
“Y-Yuseong! Y-You’re not siding with that worthless bastard, are you? Huh?”
“Well… who knows.”
Her lukewarm answer made Daeho narrow his eyes, glancing between her and Suhyeok.
“Don’t tell me you were sleeping with him behind Director Kwon’s back? Got attached already?”
When Yuseong didn’t respond—stunned speechless—he must have taken it as a yes, because Daeho’s lips twisted into a grin.
“With a body that easy, why didn’t you give any to your uncle, huh?”
A chill shot up Yuseong’s spine.
“You f**king bastard—!!”
Yeongmin exploded forward, but Yuseong stopped him immediately.
“Stand down.”
“Miss…!”
Daeho only cackled, face twisted like a monster.
He looked far too relaxed.
“The marriage contract. Where’d you get it?”
“Where else? The moment your dad collapsed, I busted open his safe.”
He answered so easily that Yuseong’s gaze drifted toward Byeongo’s study.
The huge safe—clearly visible even from afar—was missing.
“…Ha.”
Confirming her uncle’s true nature, Yuseong smiled thinly.
So this is your real face.
Then I should show you mine.
Her expression hardened instantly.
“Hold him. Don’t let him fight back.”
At her command, the twins immediately restrained Daeho.
“Miss, he’s secure.”
“W-wait—!! Y-Yuseong, hold on! W-Wait!”
Oh Yuna and Aunt had already fled the house in terror.
Yuseong pressed the bat against Daeho’s temple, checking the angle seriously.
“If I’m right, the temporal bone was around here.”
The spot where it would fly best when struck.
She was looking for the sweet spot.
“A little higher.”
Suddenly, a warm hand gently wrapped over hers, and a low voice whispered against her ear.
“If you hit wrong, he’ll die. Then your husband has to deal with the mess.”
“W-WHAT?! Shin Yuseong!! Put that damn bat down!!”
Ignoring Daeho’s hysterical screaming, Yuseong bit her lip, fixed the bat’s position, and gripped tight.
“Good. Right there.”
The moment her eyes shone cold and sharp, Suhyeok let go.
“Let go of me! You crazy bastards, I said let go!! Shin Yuseooooong!!”
“Lots of last words for someone about to go down.”
WHACK—!
Without a second of hesitation, Yuseong swung the bat with perfect accuracy.
Daeho collapsed instantly, unable to resist.
Watching her uncle fall, Yuseong gritted her teeth.
“Drop dead in hell, you devil of a bastard.”
She dropped the bat and picked up something that had fallen out of his pocket.
Then she headed straight to the second-floor master bedroom belonging to Daeho and Shin Kyunghee.
The safe deep inside the wardrobe.
THUD—! THUD!
Yuseong began smashing the safe like a woman possessed.
“Miss…?”
The twins stared, mouths hanging open, shocked by the ferocity they’d never seen from her.
Even Suhyeok watched calmly with arms crossed.
After beating it until her palms were raw, the safe finally opened.
Inside were stacks of gold bars and checks.
Yuseong dropped the bat and looked back at Suhyeok.
“Take every single thing in there.”
Maybe it was because the job was done—every ounce of tension drained from her all at once.
‘I can’t collapse. Not now…’
She clenched her teeth and stayed upright.
“Half… is for the trousseau… Kwon Suhyeok… the rest… is yours…”
I have to leave… on my own two feet…
But her consciousness was already fading. Her eyes slowly closed. There was no stopping it.
‘I’m falling.’
As her senses dimmed, she felt someone’s warmth on her shoulders and back.
Suhyeok caught her immediately.
Looking down at the brave little woman who had fainted in his arms, he threw his head back and let out a crazed laugh.
“Not a scrap left behind. Take it all.”
He ordered the bodyguards, then lifted Yuseong in a princess carry and walked outside.
“This is bad.”
The moment she saw him, even trembling with fear, her eyes lit up—he felt a thrill so intense he did something he normally wouldn’t.
He was bewitched by this little troublemaker.
After laying her gently in the back seat, Suhyeok started the engine.
Why did his body always react the moment something involved Shin Yuseong? So impulsively.
This was already the third time.
“Half… for the trousseau… Kwon Suhyeok… the rest… is yours…”
“Haha!”
So this is what visiting the in-laws is like.
At this rate, he really needed to crash the Kwon family mansion soon.
