The thought struck just as suddenly as the vision vanished.

Aren blinked and found himself back in the workshop.

“Why the sudden pause?” Yuel tilted her head.

“Didn’t you… see that?”

“See what? You were just standing there quietly.”

So only he had seen it.

Yuel chuckled as she read the letter.

She tapped her lips thoughtfully, nodding.

“…Alright then.”

When Arlen left, Yuel was alone in the Carpenter’s Guild again.

She sank into a chair.

And recalled that letter.

‘For Old Man Rex to write an introduction like this… he must have really liked him.’

It had been a long time since she’d seen such an outsider.

‘Ugh, why are you making me build this junk? Just advance me already, I don’t care.’
‘What’s the point of making chairs? So pointless.’
‘Tch, it doesn’t even make money… forget it. Skip.’

That was what the others had been like.

But he was different.
Clumsy, maybe. But when he was making that chair—he had smiled.
A smile full of joy.

‘I used to be like that too… once.’

Something broke. Yuel tumbled backward.

“Ow ow ow… what? The chair broke!?”

Sure enough, her chair had finally given out.
It had been creaking for ages, and at last, it snapped.
Old age, surely.
Definitely not because she was too heavy.

“I knew it. Should’ve just thrown it out…”

She paused.

For some reason, she thought of Arlen’s smiling face as he built that rocking chair.

Looking at the broken chair, her fingers twitched.

“…Maybe I should fix it myself. Just this once.”

Yuel picked up her hammer with a small smile.
Dust coated its handle—but her heart felt warm for the first time in ages.
