Prologue
“Hey, aren’t you leaving?”
With sharp, pointed eyes, tightly pressed lips, and chubby cheeks reddened from anger, he was a boy so cute that anyone would want to ruffle his hair.
“Why should I?”
“The owner of this room is me.”
His unreasonable words made me decide to act the same way.
“If you don’t want to be with me, you can leave. I’m the owner of this room too.”
It was funny that I, a grown-up, was having an argument with a 10-year-old child, but I couldn’t back down.
Ignoring him, I lay down on the bed where he was sitting.
“You, you!!”
“Be quiet. It’s my growing period, so I need to sleep early and wake up early to grow taller. If I end up being the same height as now, it’ll be all your fault, Ruslan.”
“Ugh!”
I tried hard not to laugh as I saw his face, about to burst. But Ruslan was a sharp child.
“You! You just laughed! You mocked me! I’m not letting this go!”
“Yep, I’m going to sleep.”
I reached over to turn off the light, tightly grabbed the blanket, and closed my eyes.
Ruslan, who had been fuming beside me, seemed exhausted after shouting and lay down on the bed with a sigh.
“You, just wait until I grow up. I’ll divorce you right away.”
Yeah, yeah. I want that too.
Swallowing the words I couldn’t say, I held my breath and waited for Ruslan to fall asleep. Ruslan, being weak and a child, quickly fell asleep.
“Sigh.”
Hearing his steady breathing, I sighed. It was all for his own good, but it made me angry when he acted like he hated it so much.
It was a complicated situation for an adult like me, but I couldn’t say anything because it would be hard for young Ruslan to understand.
Melisa quietly folded her hands and prayed. A translucent light of holy power formed at her fingertips.
Carefully, she placed her hand on Ruslan’s forehead. The holy power slowly melted and absorbed into his body.
Seeing Ruslan’s peaceful expression, Melisa let out a sigh of relief.
Thinking back to how angry he had been earlier, she felt frustrated.
“I didn’t marry you because I wanted to.”
When you become an adult and the saintess appears like in the original story, I’ll sign the divorce papers and live my new life.
“I won’t even try to stop you, so don’t worry.”
Melisa pouted as she lay down. She quickly fell into a deep sleep, her breathing soft and steady.
At this time, neither of them knew. Ruslan would regret his words for the rest of his life.
And Melisa would regret not having signed the divorce papers today.
The future really is unpredictable.
