The Problem No One Could Solve
A local wizard said,
“Hmm… I don’t know what this is. Try asking another wizard.”
Daisy went to an old wizard she was told about.
“Huh? What is this?”
“Do you know what’s wrong?”
“Not at all. I don’t treat people. That’s not my skill.”
“Aaaargh!”
Another wizard, recommended by someone’s cousin in the next village, said,
“Well, one thing I can say for sure… this isn’t a normal illness.”
Even a poor-looking wandering wizard agreed.
“You’re very healthy. So this must be a mental or magical issue.”
Daisy pulled at her hair again.
“Ugh! Why does nobody know?!”
Suddenly, she felt dizzy again. Everything went dark, and she couldn’t feel her hands or feet.
Right before passing out, she thought:
“If this isn’t a sickness, then what is it?!”
Daisy’s Background
Daisy used to be a noble lady from a very poor Baron family.
Her father was a drunk.
Because of the rule “Nobles don’t do hard labor,” Daisy had to live in a broken-down house and watch her family fall apart.
She hated it.
“Ugh, that was such an ugly life.”
She hated wearing old clothes and being chased by debt collectors.
But a year ago, everything changed—
After her violent father died, her new life began!
Even though she got kicked out with nothing, Daisy was fine.
“This is the end of my life as Lady Daisy of Baron Freed. From now on, I’ll live freely as just Daisy!”
Some people might say that giving up noble status is crazy.
But Daisy thought being a free commoner was better than being a miserable noble.
Her future as a fallen noble?
Probably sold as a second wife to some old rich man.
So she chose a better path—
“At least I can earn my own money!”
As a commoner, Daisy quickly found work in a big restaurant.
She was a fast learner and worked hard, so she did well.
She saved money steadily.
“Maybe one day I can open my own shop!”
But just as life was getting good, something bad happened.
The Mysterious Illness
“…What’s happening to my body?”
About six months ago, she fainted while working and didn’t wake up for a whole day.
She thought it was just tiredness.
But then it happened again. And again.
Now she was fainting once a month, and the time she stayed unconscious kept getting longer.
“Doctors say it’s not an illness. Wizards say they don’t know. What’s going on?!”
She had just started her new life, but now this strange condition was ruining everything.
“Why is it so hard to live a normal life?!”
Six months had passed, and she had wasted so much time and money.
Since no one had answers, she kept visiting different wizards, hoping for even a small clue.
Wizard Number 31
Finally, Wizard No. 31 said,
“I know what’s wrong with you.”
Daisy jumped up.
“What? Really?!”
She had been to so many doctors and wizards, but no one knew the answer.
She expected to be disappointed again.
But now, she had hope!
She got close to the wizard and begged,
“Please, tell me!”
But instead of answering, the old wizard held out his hand.
“There’s an extra charge from here.”
“Huh?”
“Money. I want money.”
Daisy’s mouth dropped open.
She forgot—this wizard was known for loving money.
A Strange Diagnosis
After taking all her money, the wizard finally spoke.
“You have a weak connection between your soul and your body. There’s a gap.”
“A gap? Why?!”
“I don’t know. You’re just built that way.”
“Then how do I fix it?!”
Daisy didn’t care about magical talk. She just wanted to know if she could get better and live normally.
“I paid you a lot. You must know how to fix it, right?!”
The wizard crossed his arms.
“Nope. It’s difficult.”
“What?!”
Daisy slammed the table.
“You took all my money and now say it’s too hard? You scammer!”
“Calm down! I do know something! I think there’s a way!”
Her anger cooled slightly.
“Okay, so what is it?”
“You need the Essence of the World.”
“The what now?”
He explained: it’s a powerful magical energy found only in extreme places.
He added,
“Your soul and body don’t work well together. To reconnect them, you need strong energy from the world. That’s why you need the Essence.”
Daisy pointed at him.
“Do you have any?”
“Of course not! That’s why I said it’s difficult!”
Daisy screamed,
“You talk so big but don’t even have the stuff?!”
The wizard waved his hands quickly.
“Only an archmage could find it! I’m not one of those. Be thankful I figured this much out!”
With that, he chanted a spell and kicked Daisy out using magic.
“Give me my money back, scammer!”
She kicked the door in frustration.
“Essence of the World… yeah, right.”
She was just an ordinary girl. Even meeting a regular wizard took a lot of work.
And now she needed something only an archmage could get?
That was almost impossible.
There were very few archmages in the whole continent. Most of them lived in secret, far away.
But then, Daisy suddenly raised her head.
She remembered something like a flash of lightning.
“Wait… I know an archmage!”
She even knew where he lived and a little about his love life!
“…I might actually know him pretty well?”
The Tower
And so, Daisy stood in front of a huge stone tower, as tall as a 9-story building.
“Oh wow, this really exists.”
She looked around in awe.
“It’s just like in the book.”
Because Daisy had a big secret—
She was a reincarnator. She had been reborn inside a book world.
“I used to laugh at this kind of plot in fantasy novels… but it happened to me.”
