𖹭 Prologue 𖹭
Boom!
A deafening crash shook the air violently.
What kind of situation is this?
Count Kirchhoff had handed her a sword, and she had accepted it.
And all she did was swing it—lightly, very lightly.
Then why did the wall collapse?
At first, she suspected poor construction.
This is another world, and this is the body of incompetent Minachelti. There’s no way that’s my fault.
After that, she tried to deny reality.
But the scene before her didn’t change.
Hmm. What should I do?
Minachelti Sestol pondered seriously, staring at the neatly trimmed garden beyond the now completely shattered wall.
Alright.
The conclusion she finally reached was extremely simple.
Knock him out and run.
And incredibly reckless.
Minachelti Sestol clenched her fist, trusting in her own strength.
But the male lead was quick-witted.
“I trust you’re not planning to throw that adorable fist at me.”
“……”
Minachelti Sestol failed to escape.
𖹭 Chapter 1 𖹭
“It’s all done, my lady!”
At the cheerful voice, the woman’s eyes snapped open.
She found herself locking eyes with a pair of unfamiliar brown eyes belonging to the woman sitting in front of her.
Who is that?
She tilted her head slightly to the right.
The other person tilted her head in the exact same way.
It took her a moment to realize that what she was looking at wasn’t a person—
—but a mirror.
She raised her hand and touched her pale wheat-colored hair, intricately braided like stalks of grain.
The sensation at her fingertips felt vividly real.
“……What is this?”
“D-do you not like it? You asked for an updo, so I styled it that way… Should I change the accessories?”
“There’s no time for that. We’re already late enough.”
The door opened, and an unexpected voice cut in.
A middle-aged woman walked in and spoke in a scolding tone.
“Miti? It suits the dress very well. You look mature.”
Her voice softened slightly, as if urging her to go out just like this.
She repeated the name Miti in her mind.
What exactly is going on here?
That wasn’t her name.
My name is—
“You’ve been dozing off the whole time. You’re still not fully awake, are you? Hurry and pull yourself together. We need to tighten your corset properly. Come here.”
Before she could say anything, the woman pulled her up.
“Your brother has been waiting outside for you. For thirty minutes already.”
“Gasp—!”
Each time the corset strings were tightened, the woman’s voice came out strained—
—and so did her breathing.
“Phew, done. Finish up and come out, alright?”
Only after thoroughly torturing her ribs did the woman leave with a satisfied expression.
Why is it so hard to breathe…? What kind of torture is this? Was I captured?
While she stood there blankly trying to process the situation, a dress covered in extravagant frills and lace was placed on her body.
“All done, my lady! You can head out now!”
She frowned unconsciously.
The dress was heavy and cumbersome.
“Head out? Where to?”
“What? Today is the day you’re going to the party.”
“Party?”
“Yes, the party.”
“What party?”
“Oh my, what’s gotten into you?”
The maid laughed as if she had just heard a joke.
“You’re going to Count Kirchhoff’s party with the young master!”
“Who’s the young master?”
“My lady, did you have a strange dream? Young Master Mirhel—your older brother!”
“I…!”
She was about to say she was an only child—
but her voice abruptly faded.
“I… don’t have… a brother…”
Something was wrong.
What about school? Exams? Monsters?
There was a huge gap between the world stored in her memories and the one she was seeing now.
“Are you really still half asleep?”
The maid tilted her head.
“Wait here. I’ll go bring some cold water.”
Muttering that she couldn’t possibly attend the Kirchhoff family’s party in such a dazed state, the maid hurried out.
She remained standing there, still stunned.
Where… am I?
She slowly looked around the room.
Then suddenly, an unfamiliar presence brushed against her senses.
Instinctively, she grabbed a long hairpin from the vanity and spun around, ready to stab if necessary.
Who is it?
But the only things in the room were herself—
—and a single bird in a cage hanging on the wall.
“What the…”
Relieved that no intruder was there, she loosened her grip.
Just as she was about to put the hairpin back, the bird in the cage suddenly flapped its wings.
“You idiot.”
“……A parrot?”
“I’m not a parrot! I’m a canary!”
The bright yellow bird chirped indignantly with its orange beak.
The cage swayed from the force of its flapping.
“Quiet down. Stay still!”
Already overwhelmed, she snapped in irritation.
“You’re the one at fault—why are you yelling at me?”
The canary didn’t back down.
It opened the cage door with its beak and flew right in front of her—
then pecked her forehead.
“You fool! You still don’t understand what’s going on?”
A sharp pain struck—
and suddenly countless scenes flashed before her eyes.
Only then did she realize—
This isn’t my world.
She turned toward the mirror.
And this isn’t my body either.
“……What happened?”
“What do you mean what happened? You jumped into the wrong story!”
“Me?”
“Yes, you, you lost little stray.”
The canary’s round black eyes sharpened.
That’s ridiculous.
She looked back at her reflection.
The person in the mirror felt like a complete stranger.
“Listen carefully. From now on, you are Minachelti.”
The bird began to glow.
Its small form distorted and stretched.
“God created your soul for a specific story.”
The glowing mass slowly took on a human shape—
tall enough that she had to tilt her head back to look up at it.
Its gender was impossible to tell.
“But something went wrong.”
The light dimmed, revealing the figure clearly—
just as it suddenly pointed a finger at her.
“Because you got lost and wandered into the wrong story!”
“T-then just send me back to the original one!”
Miti protested shamelessly, shrinking her neck slightly.
The angel’s silver eyes turned cold.
“If I could, do you think I’d be doing this?”
“So you can’t?”
“Haah…”
The angel sighed deeply and ran a hand through its hair.
“When you entered this world, there was a collision between the two worlds.”
It mimicked two fists crashing together.
“Both worlds became unstable. If I send you back now, they’ll collide again—and everything will collapse.”
Its fingers fluttered dramatically, as if illustrating something crumbling into dust.
She understood.
Slowly nodding, she crossed her arms.
“But there is a way back, right? That’s why you showed yourself.”
“For that, the world needs to stabilize enough to endure another collision. And for that, the characters must follow their fate…”
The angel suddenly stopped speaking.
Footsteps were approaching her room.
“Just go for now! Knowing the original story will help.”
It flicked her forehead.
At once, countless scenes flooded her mind—
Minachelti dancing with a man.
Minachelti crying before him.
Minachelti… kissing him.
“Ahh!”
She shook her head violently, face flushed red.
“What is that?! You expect me to date this guy?!”
“If you don’t, you won’t go back.”
The angel cut her off firmly.
“Then live here forever.”
“……”
Miti glared at it, lips tightly sealed.
“Miti, unfortunately, you don’t have a choice.”
Now back in canary form, it shook its head with a sigh—
and pushed her lightly from behind.
“If you want to return, you have to make this story follow its original path.”
“No, wait, there has to be another—!”
She didn’t get the chance to argue.
“My lady!”
At the cheerful voice, the angel’s form shrank into a small sphere—
then back into a canary.
“Don’t pick fights, tone down your personality, and act like Minachelti if you can. Got it?”
“I brought water!”
Miti stared blankly at the canary chirping innocently in its cage.
“Miti! Are you still not ready? Your brother is waiting!”
With a knock, Mirhel Sestol’s voice came from the already open door.
“If you don’t come now, you’ll be late.”
“Please go, my lady!”
The maid forced a sip of water into her mouth and pushed her forward.
Even as she was dragged along, Miti couldn’t take her eyes off the canary.
That bird is the cause of all this.
The canary clenched its wings like fists and nodded firmly, as if cheering her on.
What am I supposed to do?
Her silent scream was swallowed before it could escape her throat.
