~Chapter 1~
Delfina Lycaeon.
She was once called “the beloved princess of the Lycaeon family.” The Duke and Duchess of Lycaeon cherished their only daughter, Delfina.
Delfina had a happy childhood with her kind parents.
But that happiness did not last long.
Her parents died in a carriage accident, and her world completely changed.
Her uncle inherited the Lycaeon family.
He thought Delfina could threaten his position at any time.
After that, Delfina lived worse than a maid.
Her uncle and aunt saw her as a nuisance, and their children, Evelina and Dianco, treated her like a bug.
Still, Delfina tried hard.
“If I just become kinder, it will be okay.”
She thought her uncle would someday accept her.
She wanted to be part of their family – uncle, aunt, Evelina, and Dianco.
But no matter how hard she tried, she could never fit in.
Evelina laughed at Delfina who tried to gain the Duke couple’s love.
“Do you think you can become part of our family?”
“Poor sister… you really don’t know anything. Should I call you innocent or just stupid?”
At first, Delfina denied Evelina’s words. She believed her family would understand her heart someday.
But as time passed, she realised.
She could never be part of their family.
Still, Delfina thought it was okay.
“I’m not alone. I have Kasen.”
Delfina had a fiancé she promised to marry since childhood.
Kasen Huat.
He respected Delfina.
When she was bullied and her academy life felt like hell, it was Kasen who helped her endure.
Whenever she cried from being bullied, Kasen comforted her with sweet words.
“Delfina, I believe in you. You can endure this hardship.”
This kind fiancé was a ray of light in her dark life. She loved him.
“When we graduate from the academy, come to House Huat. Be with me.”
Those words kept her going. She believed him.
“Just endure until I become an adult. Then we will marry. I can leave this hellish Lycaeon family.”
That’s what she thought.
But…
Delfina looked blankly at Evelina, who was mocking her.
On Evelina’s hand was a shining ring. Delfina had seen that ring before.
Kasen once showed it to her.
“This is our family’s heirloom ring. One day, I will put it on your finger.”
He said he would give it to her when they married.
But now Evelina was wearing it.
With a confused face, Delfina whispered,
“This must be a mistake. Why do you have that? Kasen said he would give it to me…”
Seeing her reaction, Evelina smirked and said,
“Mistake? What mistake?”
“Kasen would never betray me.”
“Poor Delfina. Kasen just realised the truth.”
“Truth…?”
“That marrying you, with no power, or marrying me, Duke Lycaeon’s daughter – who is better?”
“No… he…”
“Kasen chose me. He wants to break the engagement. He’s tired of you. He finds you disgusting and annoying.”
“He would never do that.”
“Didn’t you ever wonder? During school, why didn’t Kasen stop me from bullying you? I was so cruel to you, but he stayed close to me.”
“He couldn’t go against you because you’re the Duke’s daughter.”
Evelina laughed lightly.
“Do you really think that’s the only reason he ignored you?”
“All you can do is cook like a maid. What else can you do for a noble family? Nothing. That’s why Kasen abandoned you.”
It was true. Kasen never stopped Evelina from bullying her and acted closer to Evelina than to his own fiancée.
Delfina always felt left out.
Whenever she felt sad, Kasen explained,
“I can’t help it, Delfina. Evelina’s father is the Duke. You understand, right?”
“You know I love only you. It hurts me too, but I must treat Evelina kindly.”
Delfina’s eyelashes trembled.
Kasen Huat, son of a Duke.
He was never satisfied with what he had. He wanted to expand his territory.
Yet, he always told Delfina,
“I do want the Duke’s power, but I love you, Delfina. I can’t help it.”
He said he couldn’t betray the trust they built since childhood.
“He would never betray me…”
That’s what she thought, but anxiety rose in her heart.
“I… I’ll leave first.”
Delfina quickly walked away, almost running.
Evelina laughed behind her.
As Delfina hurried up the stairs, she slipped and fell down.
Their eyes met as she fell. Evelina, who was nearby, did not help. Instead, she looked down at Delfina and mocked her.
“Stupid Delfina.”
That was the last thing Delfina heard before she lost consciousness from the pain in her head.
After the Fall
When she woke up, luckily she was not badly hurt. But something was strange.
“Am I going crazy?”
She stared at the mirror.
In front of her eyes was a floating system window.
<Delfina Lycaeon>
The unwanted child of House Lycaeon. She is confused after regaining memories of her past life. She has excellent cooking skills but doesn’t realise it.
Title: Loved by God
Skill: Everything she makes becomes successful.
At first, she thought she had gone mad. Seeing strange windows floating? Maybe she hit her head too hard.
But then, memories of her previous life returned.
She was from a country called South Korea and died at age 29.
The day before opening her dream restaurant, she was coming home from a farewell dinner with coworkers.
“I died in a car accident…”
Though confused, she focused on her current problem rather than her lost past life.
She looked at the window again.
“It’s like the game systems from my past life.”
Did that mean she was reborn inside a game?
She couldn’t tell.
While thinking, the door opened and a maid entered.
“Miss, you can’t just stand there like this!”
A ‘ping’ sound played and a window appeared above the maid’s head.
<Sophia>
Ignores Delfina. Very upset she has to go to the North with Delfina.
“North?”
Delfina’s eyelashes trembled.
“Why am I going to the North?”
Was the system window really telling the truth? Then Sophia spoke sharply.
“Stop standing there stupidly. Come with me!”
Sophia took Delfina to the Duke’s office.
Inside were the Duke, the Duchess, Evelina, and Dianco. Evelina smirked at Delfina, and Dianco stared out the window, uninterested.
The Duke looked at Delfina and said,
“Go to the North.”
“The North?”
“The Grand Duke of Rohaim is looking for a bride. Isn’t this perfect for you?”
Delfina looked at Evelina, who waved her hand with the ring and smiled.
