Chapter 10 First Broadcast
“Did you say the platform is acting weird?”
“Yeah.”
SwitchTV was a platform that often had issues with bans and suspensions. People knew about it, but the problem was that the rules weren’t clear. Sometimes, the way they handled things didn’t make any sense.
“But except for that, I think it’s a better platform for beginners than AlprikaTV.”
“Hmm…”
As Dojun was thinking, Lee Junseong looked at him and spoke.
“Did you actually want to go with AlprikaTV?”
“Yeah. I liked the idea of having more freedom to create different kinds of content.”
“You don’t need to go there right now. I think it’s better to build your name on SwitchTV first and then move later. That’s actually what I would recommend.”
For a moment, Dojun thought he had to stay loyal to one platform forever.
“If your stream is fun, your audience will follow you even if you move platforms. But you’ll need to do a good job for that. So, have you made up your mind?”
“Thanks. I’ll start with SwitchTV, just like you said.”
Junseong smiled, happy that Dojun respected his opinion.
“Okay, so we’ve decided on the platform. Have you picked a game?”
“Hmm… Actually, I have two in mind.”
“Tell me.”
“Knight of Legend and Lost Land.”
Knight of Legend was Junseong’s favorite game and one of the top 3 VR games in the world.
It was an AOS (team strategy battle) game where two sides fought to destroy each other’s base.
“If it’s Knight of Legend, it’s a great way to show off your skills. But Lost Land…”
Lost Land was a completely different kind of RPG game.
It had been out for almost a year. Usually, people decide if a game is worth playing after a year. Even after balancing updates, Lost Land was still ranked outside the top 30.
But recently, it had become a hot topic.
The game suddenly jumped to the top of the rankings.
Junseong was aware of that too. He looked at Dojun suspiciously.
“Wait… Are you after the prize money?”
“Well… I guess I am a little.”
When Dojun answered shyly, Junseong raised his voice.
“‘A little’? You’re totally after the prize!”
Lost Land had been popular early on because it was fun. But then, it hit a major problem.
The original plan was that players would complete Chapter 1 and then meet other players in Chapter 2, turning the game into a true online RPG.
But nobody was able to beat Chapter 1. It was too hard.
“To be honest, I don’t think this game suits you.”
Junseong was being realistic.
The problem with the game wasn’t about skill anymore. The early puzzle hadn’t been solved by anyone yet.
Even so, Dojun chose the game because of the prize money.
Two months ago, the company Snowstorm offered a special prize.
“If you upload a video of yourself beating Chapter 1 and entering Chapter 2, we’ll give you 100 million won.”
Gamers all around the world went crazy for it.
So now almost every gamer was trying to beat Lost Land.
Dojun didn’t deny he was drawn in by the prize.
“I understand, but I still don’t recommend it. It’s been two months and no one’s solved it yet.”
“I know. But if I do solve it, it’ll blow up, right?”
“Probably 500 million people in the world are thinking the same thing.”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
Junseong kept trying to convince him, but Dojun wouldn’t listen.
“You don’t have much time. You said you need quick results and money. Now’s not the time to gamble.”
“Junseong.”
“What?”
“You said this before — if you’re afraid of things getting worse, you’ll never make things better.”
“…”
Junseong had nothing to say.
Dojun had just quoted his own advice back at him.
“I know I don’t have much time. But I still want to try.”
Seeing how determined Dojun was, Junseong hit his chest in frustration.
“Ugh! I know I said that, but if a rookie streamer fails something this hard right away, it’ll ruin your image and slow down your growth!”
Everything Junseong said made sense.
But Dojun had his reasons.
“If I want to change my situation, I need something this big.”
Even though 100 million won was a lot of money, Dojun didn’t think it was that much.
“That money… it’s just about four months’ worth for me.”
“…”
Junseong was speechless.
“Maybe I’ll make extra income. But I can’t afford to rest or take it slow. I need to keep chasing money like crazy.”
His voice grew stronger. It sounded a bit desperate.
“People say chasing money won’t make you happy. That’s crap. Only people who already have money can say that.”
Dojun’s goal was clear.
Money.
That’s why he wanted to start streaming.
“I need money. That’s how my family will be happy. That’s how I can be happy.”
“I’m going to become someone obsessed with money. No — I have to. That’s why I need to do this. No, I will do this.”
Junseong was scared by how serious and intense Dojun looked, but at the same time, he understood.
‘This guy would do anything for his family.’
He knew how much Dojun cared about them.
Dojun had always been top of his class without even going to tutoring.
He worked part-time after school every day.
He lived his life just to avoid being a burden to his struggling father.
Everything he did was hard — almost impossible.
But he always did it.
And now, this was just one more thing he had to do.
‘He can do it. No — he must do it.’
Junseong saw the madness for money in Dojun’s eyes.
A determination to succeed.
After thinking for a while, he finally spoke.
“Alright. Do whatever you want.”
When he gave permission, Dojun’s serious face finally relaxed.
“But if you’re doing it, make sure you succeed.”
“Thanks, Junseong.”
“You said tonight at 8, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Do your best. I’ll be watching.”
As Junseong left the room, he thought to himself:
‘Let’s plan the best-case scenario — assuming Dojun actually makes it.’
From that moment, Junseong no longer considered failure as an option.
Dojun finished all preparations for his first stream that evening.
He could’ve taken his time, but a tip from MouseSucker made him hurry.
MouseSucker told him that the busiest gaming season starts right after Korea’s college entrance exam ends.
From then on, the number of gamers explodes.
The peak comes in December when students go on vacation.
Game companies also plan their biggest events around this time.
‘This is the best time for a rookie to get noticed. I can’t be lazy now.’
It wasn’t just rookies. Even veteran streamers gave it their all during this season.
‘I’ve got everything set up…’
He had all the basic equipment ready.
He even chose a streamer name.
‘Phantom.’
It was a nickname he had in his past life.
MouseSucker advised him to keep his [Physical Class] a secret for now.
‘If you reveal it later, it’ll give your growth a huge boost.’
Junseong agreed too.
If he showed it early, people might get interested, but it wouldn’t lead to lasting fans. The class was from a test server, and the support wasn’t great yet.
‘So I’m starting completely alone.’
Starting from scratch.
But he wasn’t worried.
That’s what he was best at.
‘In my past life and this one, if I just keep grinding, I’ll shine one day.’
And that day started now.
He got into the capsule, lay down, and the door closed.
His vision changed, and a voice greeted him.
[Hello, Phantom. Please choose your game.]
The voice was unfamiliar, but Dojun calmly replied:
“Lost Land.”
[Broadcast mode detected. Would you like to stream your gameplay?]
“Yes. Stream to SwitchTV and AllTube. And the title…”
He was going to choose something simple, but then he remembered Junseong’s advice.
‘Your stream title has to grab attention. Be dramatic, make people curious.’
After thinking a bit, he grinned.
“This one.”
[Your stream title has been set. Enjoy your time.]
He entered Lost Land, and his vision shifted.
Clatter. Clatter.
Under a blue sky, he found himself lying on a cart with other people.
‘Where am I…?’
As he looked around, someone shouted and kicked the cart.
“Stop sleeping! Get off and move on your own!!”
It was an NPC named Nell, wearing light armor and frowning.
Just as Dojun was getting up, he saw his stream’s chat.
【Phantom’s Game Stream】

LOL what’s with that clickbait title?
-
Must be a real newbie. Only has 1 hour of capsule playtime.
-
High school kid just finished exams and jumped in.
-
Obvious fake. Probably got like the lowest SAT score.
“Uh, hello.”
Dojun’s voice sounded strange — clearly altered.
In his past life, he used voice-changing often when going undercover.
‘First, hide my identity with voice change.’
“Hurry up and move!!”
Suddenly, NPC Nell shouted again, surprising Dojun.
-
LOL did he just say hello to us?
-
Total newbie. When talking to viewers, press the green button. Yellow button goes back to game.
-
Newbies are so fun to watch.
-
Hurry up, Nell’s not a nice guy. Though… he dies anyway.
┗ Don’t spoil it LOL
Realizing his mistake, Dojun quickly pressed the green button.
“Oh, this is it. Thanks for the tip.”
As he started moving again, Nell blocked his way.
“Where’s your mind at?”
“Huh?”
“You think you’re going out there empty-handed?”
Nell glared, and Dojun looked around.
-
LOL look at him panic. He’s a real newbie.
-
You need a weapon!
-
Your job depends on what weapon you pick. You can’t change later, so pick carefully.
-
Dagger is best. Go with dagger.
┗ You evil troll LOL
He looked next to the cart and saw five weapons:
-
Mace
-
Longsword
-
Staff
-
Bow
-
Dagger
The safest choices were clearly the bow or longsword.
But for Dojun, the best one was already decided.
