Chapter 65
The day of the visit.
We headed to the separate residence where Duchess Flora was staying.
Carriages are like cars—they make me really motion-sick. I asked them to open the window a little, but the spinning feeling wouldn’t stop.
I hope we get there soon…
“Those cookies you made yesterday, Tiana—they were really delicious. Thank you.”
“I’m glad! I was thinking of giving some to Mother, too. What do you think?”
Tiana asked Ellie.
“I think that’s a wonderful idea! I’m sure Mother will love them. I’m going to give her a handkerchief I embroidered myself.”
“Eh? What kind of embroidery did you do?”
Wow, my sister can sew too? Maybe she really does have that heroine’s ‘can-do-anything’ power.
Ellie took a handkerchief out of her bag.
“Ta-da! I embroidered our family. It’s a little rough, though.”
Saying that, Ellie showed Tiana her work.
Each person’s traits were clearly captured. Considering her age, it must have been difficult to express details like hair and expressions, but the stitches were delicate and full of care.
“Sis, that’s amazing! Really amazing!”
The cookies I made suddenly feel so plain in comparison. But I’m sure Mother will love her handkerchief.
Maybe I should’ve made something more, too…
Since Mother doesn’t get to see the family very often, I drew a picture of everyone—but maybe I shouldn’t give it to her.
I should’ve just asked a professional painter.
Ahh, this is bad. I didn’t feel this sick when I rode with Gilbert, but now I feel like throwing up.
Just a bit longer… hang in there—
We finally arrived!!!!
“Whew… inhale, exhale…”
Tiana took a deep breath and tried to reset her mood.
The outside air felt so fresh and pleasant.
Phew… I think I’m feeling a little calmer now.
“Tia, are you okay? You look pretty pale—are you feeling sick?”
“You do look a little unwell,” Mariana said, sounding worried.
Today, Mariana and Dalia had come along too, together with their two assigned knights.
“I’m okay. After taking some deep breaths, I feel a lot better.”
“Really? But if it starts to feel like too much, tell us right away, okay?”
“Thank you, both of you.”
Everyone was so kind—it made me a little happy.
I wasn’t completely fine yet, but at least I was feeling better.
“Welcome. I am Camilla, Duchess Flora’s personal maid. I’ll escort you to her room.”
The servants working at the estate greeted them politely, bowing their heads.
“Sis, aren’t you a little nervous?”
“Nervous?”
“Yes. It’s been so long since we last saw Mother…”
“Yeah, I get that. It’s hard to know what to say, right?”
Even my sister gets nervous, huh?
In my case… I caused trouble for Mother’s body.
I know it’s my fault, but I don’t even know how to apologize.
What if… she doesn’t want to see me?
If Mother rejects me, I think it’ll really hurt.
Dark thoughts kept piling up inside me.
