Chapter 28
Once the dress measurements were finished, I immediately started preparing to go into town.
The dress fitting had ended surprisingly quickly, leaving me with a little extra time.
“Since there’s a bit of time before you head out, would you like a snack?”
Mariana suggested.
I still had some time before going into town with Gilbert. Maybe I could go to the library in the main building.
“No, thank you. I’ll try going to the library,”
Tiana declined Mariana’s offer.
Having come to the main building on her own, she didn’t really want to meet anyone from the duke’s family. She decided to walk briskly to the library as quickly as possible.
On the way to the library in the main building, she ran into Liam at a corner.
Great, I’ll probably get involved in something again. Maybe I should just nod and pass by.
“Where are you going?” Liam asked.
It might be better to answer honestly so I don’t get stopped.
“I’m heading to the library,”
Tiana replied straightforwardly.
“Huh. I was actually planning to go to the library too, so I’ll go along,”
he said.
Huh? What’s with that all of a sudden? He came from the direction of the library. Did he really need to follow me here?
Not wanting to ask such questions directly, and since they weren’t that close, Tiana just went along with him to the library.
Upon entering the library, the ceiling was higher than in other rooms, and countless books were neatly lined up as far as the eye could see.
As expected of the duke’s house. Books in multiple languages, on foreign affairs, economics, and various other topics, were all arranged neatly.
The librarian in charge of this library approached Tiana. Liam had visited the library many times before, so he didn’t need explanations, but Tiana, coming for the first time, didn’t know where each genre was located, so she received guidance.
Tiana wasn’t good at studying, so she had no interest at all in the history of the Rios Empire.
But she thought it would be good to learn something about an empire she didn’t know, so she wanted to read a history book about the Rios Empire at least once.
“This is the history book about the Rios Empire that you were looking for, milady,”
the librarian said, handing her the book.
“Thank you,” Tiana said politely.
It felt quite thick in her hands—about the thickness of a dictionary.
She picked up the book she wanted to read and hesitated over where to sit.
The library had a large table with many seats. Thinking that Liam would sit in the center, Tiana chose the seat at the far end.
Then, Liam sat next to her with a book in hand.
Why is he sitting next to me?
I kind of don’t like sitting next to Liam…
But if I change seats now, even Liam would probably get hurt.
