Chapter 27
Besides accessories, I thought it would be nice if I could buy some shoes too—after all, I get to go to town. While I’m looking at shoes, maybe they can wait in the carriage. But then again, that might feel a little rude.
“Today as well, I will make sure you look absolutely adorable while going out to town with Lord Gilbert.”
Lucy’s eyes were sparkling.
“Thank you.”
“Before we go to town, the dressmaker will be coming, so we’ll prepare you immediately,” Mariana said.
“They say a famous dressmaker, favored by the royal family and talked about among nobles, will be coming. It’s usually very difficult to get a reservation, but the Duke insisted on bringing a top-class professional. Once contacted, they said they absolutely wanted to dress Your Highness in a gown.”
Rose, her eyes shining, explained this to Tiana.
So they went out of their way to invite a famous dressmaker? Slowly but surely, people’s treatment of me… their feelings toward me, are starting to change. But isn’t this happening a bit too fast? Feels like they’re playing hard to get after pushing too much…
After a little while, the dressmaker arrived.
“Excuse us,” they said, followed by about ten people carrying countless dresses.
“Wow… amazing.”
My room was filled with dresses. Each one had fluffy skirts, dazzling lace, large ribbons, and frills.
Looking at all these dresses made my heart feel light and excited.
“Milady, in order to begin by fitting you with a wonderful dress, may we take your measurements first?”
They asked Tiana.
“Of course, please do.”
Tiana, though nervous, allowed them to measure her.
“You are very slender and have fair skin. Any dress you wear will look stunning,” they complimented.
“Thank you.”
I felt a little embarrassed.
“Milady, how about this dress? It’s amber-colored with a large white ribbon! It matches your beautiful pink hair perfectly—I think it would suit you wonderfully!”
Lucy recommended a dress that would suit me.
“Milady, I believe this dress would suit you even better! White with pink frills—a light, sweet dress. Perfect for you!”
Lucy and Rose spoke as if competing with each other.
After that, they continued introducing dresses to me, competing to see which suited me best.
“Look, both of you, she’s getting overwhelmed,” Mariana calmed them down.
“Ahaha, thank you. The dresses you’ve chosen are all so cute, I’ll go with them!”
I decided to purchase most of the dresses they picked for me—or rather, the Duke bought them.
I wanted to wear a new dress when I went to town today, but could I get one to wear right away?
“Um, would it be possible to wear this dress today right away?”
I asked. These dresses were so cute—I wanted to wear one now.
“Yes. We will adjust the hem to fit your body, so please wait a little,” they kindly agreed.
The dress I chose was light pink with white frills, red ribbons on the sleeves, hem, and neckline—a short-skirted dress.
“Wow, such a lovely dress,” Mariana and the other two complimented as well.
Once the measurements were finished, we immediately prepared to go to town.
Since the fitting finished sooner than expected, we had a little extra time.
I still have time… what should I do while I wait? Come to think of it, I’ve never been to the library.
I want to learn more about the history of the Rios Empire—I might understand what I should do going forward.
