Chapter 7
I checked my face in the mirror.
The novel had described it as “plain looking,” but was that really true?
“Huh?”
I was surprised when I saw myself.
A cute girl stared back at me, with soft, silky pink hair, deep crimson eyes that seemed as if they could draw you in, and fair, poreless skin as smooth as porcelain.
As I grew older, I had the feeling I’d only become even more beautiful.
In my previous life, exams had always been my top priority, so I never had the chance for romance. But in this life, I wanted to date a wonderful man and live happily.
Of course, not with Ferio—the one Tiana loved—but with someone else.
To do that, I first needed to change how people saw me. If I just stayed the same, the future would end up exactly as it had before.
Come to think of it, the novel had described a very beautiful flower field.
It was the place the Duke and Duchess often visited.
Since I was now in Tiana’s position, I wanted to see it at least once with my own eyes.
Yes… but before that, I should apologize to my elder sister for what happened the other day. Not only for that—also for everything I’ve done to her until now.
I’ll pick some flowers from the meadow and give them to her as a present.
Ah, but what if she refuses? Will she even accept them? Not too long ago, I had once prepared a cake for her, and inside I’d hidden a three-centimeter bug. Even if it was just a child’s prank, there’s no way she could forgive me for that.
And yet, Ellie never told Father about it, just so that Tiana wouldn’t get scolded. Because she was my sister, she protected me.
Even though Tiana bullied her over and over again, Ellie never said anything. Still, those around us reported it to Father, and I was the one scolded.
Despite everything, Ellie eventually tried to reach out to Tiana, thinking it couldn’t go on like this.
But I was the one who threw away her kindness.
This time, I slapped her face just because she took my precious stuffed toy.
Yes, maybe she was a little at fault too… but being struck hurts, and worst of all, it left a bright red mark.
But still, I couldn’t remember where exactly the flower field was.
I could ask Lily, but she’d probably say something cutting or try to get in my way. Better to ask someone else.
That’s right. I’ll ask Chrono.
“Chrono!”
“Why are you in such a hurry, milady?”
“I want to visit the flower field that Mother often went to, but I don’t know where it is.”
“Ah, I know the place. Allow me to guide you.”
“Thank you, Chrono!”
I thanked him with a bright smile.
Chrono looked startled.
(The young lady… smiled at me? And even thanked me?)
(Ever since her mother, Duchess Flora, began living in the detached villa, the young lady’s expressions had mostly been sullen or angry. To see such a sweet smile again… it had truly been a long time. I was worried she had closed off her heart completely, but now I feel very relieved.)
He didn’t say any of this aloud, but in his heart, Chrono was glad.
“By the way, milady… what do you plan to do in the flower field?”
Maybe it was okay to tell him.
After all, even in the story, he worried about Tiana until the very end.
“I want to apologize to my sister for everything I’ve done. I thought I’d pick some flowers and give them to her.”
“I see… That is a wonderful idea.”
Chrono smiled at me warmly, as if I were something precious. After we walked for a while, he stopped.
“Here we are, milady. This is the flower field you were looking for.”
Amazing.
All around us stretched a meadow filled with flowers of every color.
Sunlight poured down, illuminating only this spot, making it look divine and breathtakingly beautiful.
Each time a gentle breeze blew, a calming floral fragrance drifted through the air.
Now I understood why Mother had loved this place and visited so often.
“Thank you for bringing me here.”
“Not at all. Please, take your time.”
Saying that, Chrono returned to his duties.
I decided to pick some flowers from the edge of the field and bring them to my sister as an apology.
With that thought, I began gathering blossoms.
