Chapter 6
The meeting room was dark, the screen filled with black.
Along with a faint piano melody, Baek Do-haâs narration began to play.
“The word ‘first’ alone feels so exciting.”
“First kiss, first day at work.”
“…And.”
“First meeting.”
As the screen brightened, the loud cries of newborn babies were heard.
“Oh my, what do we do!”
“Congratulations, itâs a boy.”
“Such a pretty little princess~”
Scenes of parents holding their newborns passed by. Soon, close-ups of a teary-eyed mother and her child gradually faded into darkness.
“In the darkness where nothing could be seen, a single ray of light approached.”
Subtitles appeared as Baek Do-haâs voice echoed.
“Noooâ!”
“Lu, Luha!”
Crash!
The atmosphere abruptly changed.
The Lumis members ran around in chaos while Luha skillfully dodged between them. A few hectic shots followed without a moment to catch oneâs breath.
“It wasnât easy.”
Subtitles appeared on a black background with Baek Do-haâs calm narration.
“Brrrotherâ”
“Luha~”
This time, the scenes were much warmer.
Peaceful everyday moments: reading books together, playing Jenga, singing songs. And finally:
“We can do well, right?”
“At our home…”
“We have a new youngest member.”
The screen gradually brightened.
Lumis members were smiling brightly, Luha in the center. Unlike the beginning, the white background overlapped, ending the video.
“Oh…”
“Wow~ It actually works?”
“Wow⊠is this really a teaser for a variety show?”
As the video ended, exclamations echoed throughout the meeting room.
The âLee Geon-woo teamâ was definitely different.
According to what Choi Eun-bi had said, there wasnât supposed to be a single usable scene.
How did they produce such a result?
The finished teaser had the depth of a heartfelt documentary.
Clickâ
The meeting room lit up with the switch.
“Not bad, right?”
Lee Geon-woo, executive producer of Our Familyâs Youngest, smiled confidently.
A top variety show PD in Korea, Lee Geon-woo had successfully produced numerous shows like Eat! Thatâs the Way, Letâs Go to the Island, and Somehow.
Suddenly, he announced independence by founding a production company called âGeonwoo Pictures.â
Our Familyâs Youngest was his first independent work and a declaration of Geonwoo Picturesâ launch.
Of course, it wasnât entirely self-produced. It was a collaboration with âJinTube,â a YouTube channel operated by the large content distribution company WJ ENM.
Even someone like Lee Geon-woo faced cold reactions internally as soon as the proposal came out.
“No main MC? A mix of idols and a young child?”
“Youâre saying this PD planned and cast it himself? Why take such a risky gamble?”
In an era where anyone could be a broadcaster or a producer, content overflowed, and audience expectations were high. Even with popular guests, success wasnât guaranteed. Casting less-known idols for such a risky challenge naturally drew skepticism.
“We can do it!” he had shouted, but as time went on, even Lee Geon-woo felt shaken.
From the start, the casting was shaky, and the idols had no particular charm. The hardest part was editing.
In a âhealingâ program, finding scenes that matched the âhealingâ vibe was almost impossible.
The teaserâs reading scene with Luha? The staff begged multiple times before finally getting that shot.
The peaceful singing scene? The reality was far from peaceful; the set was tense.
“Why is the pitch off? Why is the rhythm off?”
What could a five-year-old understand? Luha wielded the back scratcher, scolding the members endlessly.
“Do we really have to give up…”
In the editing room, he was tearing his hair outâwhen he heard Luhaâs voice from the monitor.
“Why keep worrying? Just dive in. If youâre scared, you canât do anything.”
It felt like a strong blow to the head.
“Right. Just dive in!”
Lee Geon-woo steeled his resolve.
But the real story behind the inspiring line was different.
A few days earlier, at the Lumis dorm.
“If we remove this, itâll collapse…”
Kang Ian cautiously pointed to a safe blockâone that was obviously crucial.
“Hey! Why are you worrying? Just dive in!”
Luha, frustrated, thumped his chest with tiny hands and shouted.
“If youâre scared, you canât do anything! Pull it! Pull it outâ!”
“Quiet, will you?”
“Oh, being scared is such a problemâ”
Luha sighed and shook his head. Behind the innocent expression lay a clever provocation.
“Oh my…”
Kang Ian, trembling, removed the risky block. As expected, the Jenga tower toppled.
“Oh no, it collapsed!”
The angelic childâs face twisted into a devilish smile.
“Now, itâs time for punishment. Come here!”
“Ouch! It hurts! Stop!”
Luha twirled the back scratcher and chased Kang Ian.
Our Familyâs Youngest Teaser â the âyoungestâ brought the light. Our Familyâs Youngest first broadcast!
The cast was only Lumis and a five-year-old child.
For such a minimal lineup, 110,000 views wasnât bad.
But considering JinTubeâs 3 million subscribers, it was far from enough.
And this was a reality show by Lee Geon-woo! Even as a teaser, it should have reached at least 300,000 views.
Inside Clef Entertainment, reactions were relatively positive, unlike the disappointed JinTube staff.
Compared to previous Lumis fancams or stage videos, this teaser got much higher views.
Yet, the viewersâ reactions left something to be desired.
â Lumis??? Never heard of them, how did they get on JinTube?
â Oh, PD Lee Geon-woo? But whoâs Lumis?
â Among the idols with Lee Geon-woo, theyâre the most unknown. I only learned about them now.
â If not major idols, only actors participate.
â Still, the kid is cute.
â Usually, agencies pay for broadcast before a comeback.
â Huh? Not a debut but a comeback? Wow, risky.
â Is it over for Lee Geon-woo⊠why go independent?
â Of course he went independent; heâs a known PD, itâs a temporary spike.
â Independence is basically a subsidiary. WJ provides capital and staff.
â The âGeonwoo teamâ isnât purely WJ staff.
â Where does the salary come from? WJ, right?
â Did you miss âindependenceâ? Lee Geon-woo pays them.
â Whoâs the kid?? So cute ă
ă
ă
Even though it was Lumis starring in Our Familyâs Youngest, most comments focused on PD Lee Geon-woo.
“It canât be helped.”
A voice suddenly came from the corner, catching everyoneâs attention.
It was Luha.
“Luha, why are you here?”
Han Su-jin, head of PR, narrowed her eyes.
“The members are practicing, so I brought him.”
Manager Choi Eun-bi answered for him.
“Then send him to kindergarten! Why bring him here?”
Working mom Han Su-jin emphasized the importance of early education.
With a daughter Luhaâs age, she even worried about Luhaâs schooling.
“Kindergarten…”
Luha muttered softly.
Most idols miss their teenage memories while trainees.
Field trips and school trips were dreams, attendance barely counted, and they returned home exhausted.
At least there were traces: graduation albums kept their images.
But Jin Do-hyun had none. Only compulsory education, and high school was completed via GED.
Perhaps thatâs why kindergarten remained a small dream.
One bucket list item:Â âOne day, take my child to kindergarten by hand.â
Now, he had a good home, car, watch, could travel anywhere. But childhood was far from that.
Kindergarten and high school were luxuries. Lost in thought,
“What do you mean by âit canât be helpedâ?”
Yoon Tae-jinâs sharp question pulled him back.
Everyoneâs eyes turned to Yoon Tae-jin.
For a five-year-old, his tone was unusually sharp.
“W-what do you mean?”
Yoon Tae-jin quickly corrected himself. Talking publicly with a five-year-old Jin Do-hyun wasnât easy.
“Hmm…”
Luha tapped his chin with tiny hands, then tapped the chair and spoke.
“Lumis isnât famous, right? People clicked because itâs JinTube and this PD. This reaction is normal~”
A reasonable point. Staff quietly nodded.
They didnât forget to find Luha adorable.
“Oh my, listen to him talk!”
“How can he speak so cutely?”
“Luha must do music too!”
“Look at his fingers! So cute!”
âOh my⊠cuteness overload.â
Luha shook his head and sighed.
“Our Familyâs Youngest is the first step. People will just know Lumis exists. Thatâs already a big success~”
“Then, whatâs next?”
Yoon Tae-jin asked seriously.
“Next?”
Luha sighed softly, as if questioning why, and added:
“We have to show what kind of group Lumis is.”
He pulled out his phone from the small bag around his neck.
It was the small bag Yoon Tae-jin gave him, with Piano Fairy Doremi on it, and a newly activated phone.
He tapped the screen a few times and slid it across the table.
Everyone leaned forward, gathering around the middle of the table.
“Revival…?”
Choi Eun-bi muttered.
On the phone screen was a poster showing silhouettes of idols under flashing lights.
With a small leap, Luha jumped onto the table.
“Itâs a survival program being prepared by AMP Music.”
The mischievous expression disappeared, replaced by sharp, piercing eyes.
