Prologue
“You!”
The tightly shut door burst open with a bang.
A dark figure stormed into the room.
“Are you… really going to die?”
The desperate voice was filled with ragged, broken breaths.
I slowly lifted my head and simply looked at him.
His beautiful face gradually came into focus through my blurring vision.
At my silent gaze, he panted heavily, his breath rough and uneven.
As I blinked once, he growled in a low voice.
“Answer me. Now!”
The way you were interrogating me… it was a face I had never seen before.
What should I say?
Would it be right to say it felt like the world was crumbling?
Facing you, I gave the most beautiful smile I could muster.
“Yes.”
Three months.
That was all the time I had left to live.
