Chapter : 06
“Eun-woo, what’s your dream?”
In her soft, small hands, she held a delicate flower to give to her younger sibling, who looked like her. Eun-yu especially liked the nameless flowers that bloomed in the front and back yards of the orphanage.
Eun-woo couldn’t understand why she liked flowers she couldn’t even eat. Eun-yu just wanted to see pretty flowers all year round.
Even though the two had completely different personalities, people often couldn’t tell them apart. They distinguished the twins by listening to their conversations or watching their reactions. Only the nuns who raised them could tell them apart; anyone else meeting the children for the first time would struggle to identify who was who.
Eun-yu’s dreams were always changing. Some days she wanted to be an animal on TV, other days a righteous hero. But in the end, she always wanted to be a princess.
“I’m going to be a princess for sure.”
“Why do you want to be a princess?”
Eun-woo often wondered why her dreams changed all the time, but he never said it out loud. He didn’t fully understand what a “dream” was, and he thought such things wouldn’t really help. But the biggest reason was that he wanted to protect Eun-yu’s dream.
“If I become a princess, I can find Mom and Dad.”
Eun-yu believed vaguely that becoming a princess would let her find her parents, even though she didn’t know what being a princess really meant.
Honestly, Eun-woo didn’t know if they could ever find their parents. Among all the friends they had at the orphanage, no one had ever found their real parents.
Even Yoon-hee, who was adopted by a wealthy family, and Seong-cheol, who was adopted too, said they would find their parents, but Eun-woo had never heard of anyone succeeding.
Yet Eun-yu firmly believed that becoming a princess would help her find her parents.
“The nun said that if I go there, I can become a princess.”
“The place” meant the family who would adopt Eun-yu. Her adoption had been decided about a week ago.
A month earlier, a representative from an international adoption agency had visited the orphanage. They were looking for a child to adopt abroad. The representative, who had worked with the orphanage before, came to find a suitable child.
The agency was strict about adoption requirements. Eun-yu’s future foster father was a police officer, and they already had an adopted Asian child.
The representative listed several conditions and said that if the adoption went smoothly, the agency and the orphanage would continue working well together.
Although domestic adoption was preferred, international adoption was also possible. After careful consideration, the nuns agreed to the adoption.
Later, Eun-woo and Eun-yu didn’t realize how far the U.S. was. They only knew it was very far—across the ocean by plane.
Eun-yu was just happy to have a new family. But Eun-woo felt differently.
How could they find their parents if they weren’t in Korea? Even living in the same country, they couldn’t find them. How could they if they went so far away?
Eun-woo wanted to support Eun-yu’s dream. He wanted to protect her hope that becoming a princess would help her find her parents.
Unlike him, Eun-yu always lived in fantasies, but she was his only family. He knew that being adopted abroad would make it harder for her to achieve her dream.
Meanwhile, Eun-yu didn’t understand that adoption meant being separated from Eun-woo. She only believed that becoming a princess would happen because the nun said so.
She probably thought they would be adopted together. Naturally, she assumed Eun-woo would also become a “prince” with her.
But a few days later, reality hit. The head nun, who loved them both, called Eun-woo separately.
Normally, they were always called together, so this felt unusual.
The small nun took Eun-yu to the backyard, knowing she wouldn’t want to leave Eun-woo. Meanwhile, the head nun led Eun-woo to her office.
She gave Eun-woo some delicious snacks. Though he liked them, he held onto them to share with Eun-yu later.
“I’ll prepare some for Eun-yu too, so you can eat this one yourself.”
The head nun smiled softly, knowing Eun-woo cared deeply for Eun-yu. Unlike Eun-yu, Eun-woo realized that adoption meant they would be separated.
“Eun-woo, your adoption has been decided too.”
On the day the head nun told him, Eun-woo felt a strange relief—not at being separated from Eun-yu, but that he could protect her dream. He didn’t fully understand it at his young age.
But when he saw Eun-yu cry after hearing the news, reality finally sank in.
That night, Eun-yu cried endlessly, holding hands with Eun-woo, both sobbing without pause.
“From now on, you become me, and I become you.”
Eun-woo comforted her, saying that if they became each other, they would meet again someday—and find their mother.
So, Eun-woo became Eun-yu, and Eun-yu became Eun-woo, and they were adopted.
The scene shifts to the present:
“Why… do you regret it now?”
A low, sinister voice spoke. Cho Tae-seo, already in front of the hotel room, said this to Eun-yu, who stood dazed.
She finally snapped out of her memories. Why now, of all times, did these memories come back?
Even now, she could still leave. She could push Cho Tae-seo away and leave the hotel, taking the last chance to return to the life she dreamed of.
But would she truly feel at peace?
“It’s not too late even now.”
Cho Tae-seo offered a final chance. This relationship, tangled out of necessity, could be cut before it got worse. Words spoken boldly in front of others would fade over time. She could return everything to its original place before it was too late.
“Think carefully. Once you cross that door, you can’t go back.”
He had already gone inside, reminding her that crossing the door meant no turning back.
Eun-yu had no place to retreat. Eun-woo, her everything, was gone, and there was no path forward for her.
Still, she crossed the door despite Cho Tae-seo’s warning. He frowned, unable to understand her. Of course, the person in front of him was Jung Eun-woo.
People’s opinions didn’t matter, nor did Eun-woo’s words. She was angry, but she had no idea why she acted like this. Whatever the reason, it didn’t matter. She didn’t need any more consideration.
“Ugh!”
Cho Tae-seo grabbed Eun-yu’s arm, throwing her onto the bed. Surprised, her usual indifferent expression vanished, replaced by real emotion.
What could push someone to the edge like this?
“Can you make me pregnant in one try?”
“Ugh!”
He gripped her wrist tightly and forced himself between her legs.
“Do you think getting pregnant is that easy?”
The rough touch made her legs shrink. He pressed her struggling body and pushed his hand under her skirt.
He grabbed the soft underwear with his fingers and pulled it down. It tore easily but it didn’t matter.
“Hngh.”
Eun-yu bit her lip, trying to hold back a sound. No matter how much she tried, some things couldn’t be hidden.
She had provoked boldly, but she wasn’t used to this. She resisted with a visible expression, using all her strength to endure.
“If you stirred someone up, you have to take responsibility.”
“You want to carry my child so badly? I’ll keep going until you get pregnant.”
He tore the underwear, barely hanging from her thighs.
“Now, open up properly.”
