Chapter : 10

“Eun-woo… no, Eun…yu.”

Standing in front of Eun-yu was Gi Seok-hyun, Eun-woo’s former lover.

Since that day at the funeral, Eun-yu had never met Gi Seok-hyun again. The chairman’s watchful eye made it difficult, and she had been preoccupied with Jo Tae-seo.

Gi Seok-hyun looked worse than he had at the funeral. He was thinner, worn out. It was understandable—he had lost the person he loved and a child. But even so, there was nothing they could talk about privately.

“What are you doing here?”

He had the same face as Eun-woo, but his cold eyes and tone showed this was not the Eun-woo she had loved.

The gentle, warm-eyed Eun-woo no longer existed. Gi Seok-hyun knew this too, but seeing Eun-yu in front of him made it feel as if Eun-woo had returned.

“I came because I was worried.”

Ever since seeing Eun-yu at Eun-woo’s funeral, he could not get her out of his mind. He knew she was someone else, but he didn’t want to accept it, and that made him even more restless.

“Gi Seok-hyun, I am not Jeong Eun-woo, the one you loved.”
“I know. But I was too worried. I had to see with my own eyes that you were safe.”

Even knowing it was wrong, he could not stop himself from coming. Especially since the conversation he overheard with Chairman Jeong at the funeral kept weighing on him.

“Are you really going to marry Jo Tae-seo?”

Every night, anxiety consumed him. He couldn’t sleep, couldn’t even drink water. He kept reminding himself that Eun-yu was not Eun-woo, yet he still ended up here.

“Why are you curious? This has nothing to do with you.”

Eun-yu didn’t want to give him hope. No matter how much she lived the life of the deceased Eun-woo, nothing between her and Gi Seok-hyun would happen.

He would soon realize his confusion was temporary. Once everything ended, once she disappeared from this world, Gi Seok-hyun could return to his own life.

“I understand why you want to marry Jo Tae-seo, but this isn’t right.”
“What do you mean it’s not right?”

Gi Seok-hyun’s face twisted as he looked at her, confused. Eun-woo had refused to marry Jo Tae-seo, and seeing Eun-yu, who looked exactly like Eun-woo, about to do the same, made him desperate to stop her.

Even if it was out of revenge for Eun-woo, he could not bear to see her near Jo Tae-seo.

“There are other ways. Why does it have to be marriage? I can help you… I’ll help you…”

“Gi Seok-hyun.”

Eun-yu’s gaze showed that his actions had gone too far. His past closeness with Eun-woo was none of her business. She was not Eun-woo, and her marriage to Jo Tae-seo had nothing to do with him.

“Do you hate that I’m marrying Jo Tae-seo for revenge? Or do you hate that someone who looks exactly like Eun-woo is marrying him?”

Gi Seok-hyun’s reasons were his burden, not hers. That didn’t give him the right to interfere with her choices.

“I… I…”

He could not speak. He looked confused, unable to control his emotions, and the fact that he came here at all was already a mistake.

“Listen carefully. Whatever my reason or choice, Gi Seok-hyun, you have no right to interfere.”

Eun-yu had no patience to comfort him. She was already full of her own pain. Why would he try to block her when she was already struggling forward with her own wounds?

“I’m worried about you!”

Gi Seok-hyun shouted in desperation. He was so excited he could no longer distinguish who was in front of him. Eun-yu began to look like Eun-woo. His suppressed grief and sorrow exploded violently.

“Please, Eun-woo. Don’t marry that bastard. Please!”

Eun-yu stepped back, realizing how dangerous his reaction was. His cries were like a lost mind, and she thought she needed to move away.

But moving away only made Gi Seok-hyun lose control even more. He grabbed her arm tightly.

Just then, there was a loud smack! Gi Seok-hyun’s jaw twisted, and he staggered, letting go of Eun-yu’s arm. He fell to the ground with a thud.

Simultaneously, Eun-yu’s arm was pulled with even greater force and was now securely held in strong arms.

“Crazy bastard, hands off!”

A familiar voice made her heart race—Jo Tae-seo. He had come to check on Eun-yu, though he should have been home already.

“Are you okay?”

Eun-yu was startled not only by Gi Seok-hyun but more so by Jo Tae-seo’s sudden appearance.

Had he overheard her conversation with Gi Seok-hyun? If so, how much did he hear?

“Any injuries?”
“No.”

Judging by his reaction, he likely hadn’t heard the earlier parts. But she wasn’t entirely sure.

“Did that bastard touch you forcefully or try to expose you?”

Jo Tae-seo asked while looking at her skirt. At first, she didn’t understand, but she soon realized—he wanted to know if Gi Seok-hyun had hurt her, or if her underwear had been exposed. The question was absurd in the situation.

“How are you here? Weren’t you supposed to be home?”

Eun-yu avoided his gaze and shook her head. Jo Tae-seo seemed to confirm that nothing had happened and stood behind her protectively.

“Gi Seok-hyun, what are you doing?”

Jo Tae-seo knew who Gi Seok-hyun was, meaning he knew about Eun-woo and Gi Seok-hyun too.

“I was first!”

Gi Seok-hyun shouted, holding his jaw. His face was bloody and tear-streaked. Fortunately, he still saw Eun-yu as Eun-woo.

“Who being first matters?”

Jo Tae-seo reached behind him and wrapped his arms around Eun-yu, clearly claiming his space and blocking Gi Seok-hyun.

Gi Seok-hyun’s expression twisted in frustration. The person behind Jo Tae-seo looked like Eun-woo. If all facts were revealed, Jo Tae-seo’s marriage could be ruined. His selfish desire tried to take over—but even now, he was too late.

“Listen carefully, Gi Seok-hyun.”

Jo Tae-seo looked at him with a deadly gaze and spoke slowly:

“If I don’t marry Jeong Eun-woo, what do you think will happen?”
“What do you mean?”
“Even a fool would know this marriage isn’t normal, right?”

It was a clash between emotional Gi Seok-hyun and rational Jo Tae-seo. Gi Seok-hyun, still grieving Eun-woo, couldn’t distinguish Eun-yu from her.

“Let’s say we break off the engagement. Could you save Eun-woo from Chairman Jeong if you went after her?”

Gi Seok-hyun couldn’t answer. If he could, Eun-woo wouldn’t have died. No matter how hard he tried, the dead cannot come back.

“Did you really love Eun-woo? From what I see, it’s just a possessive obsession you couldn’t have.”

Jo Tae-seo’s words were not wrong. If Gi Seok-hyun had acted sooner, Eun-woo might not have died. But he hesitated, fearing the chairman’s revenge.

In the end, his late decision cost him the life of the woman and child he loved.

“Did you ever really see how Eun-woo looked at you?”

Gi Seok-hyun’s gaze fell on Eun-yu behind Jo Tae-seo. Eun-yu’s eyes were still cold. She had the same face as Eun-woo, but her eyes saw him differently.

“I… I…”

He couldn’t bring himself to admit she wasn’t Eun-woo. He didn’t want to accept that the woman he loved was gone.

“But tell me this.”
“Is this woman really the Eun-woo you think she is?”

Jo Tae-seo’s sudden question left both Gi Seok-hyun and Eun-yu staring at him in shock.

SynopsisEun-woo is dead. My other “self,” who had the same face and the same voice as me.I begin to question my twin sister’s death, and for revenge, I must become Eun-woo and marry her fiancé.“Are you good at it?”The first words I ever said to the man who paid me no attention, busy only with his work calls.“I’m asking if you’re good at it.”Even if I had to resort to something cheap, I needed to keep Jo Taeseo tied to me.“Can you get me pregnant in one try?”So I’ll use this man— the kind who can capture everyone’s attention at once, yet can’t seem to hold mine.“You men can do it, right? Sleep with a woman you don’t even care about.”At the woman’s audacious remark—she who had always seemed like nothing more than a sack of barley set aside— Jo Taeseo scrutinized her with sharp, probing eyes, as if trying to grasp the situation.“You’ve changed in a crazy way while I was on that business trip, Jung Eun-woo.”He folded his arms and leaned his large frame comfortably back in the chair. Already imposing, he seemed even larger.“This is interesting.”Jo Taeseo’s reaction was different from when he first walked into the room.“I thought you were just a doll that breathes. Turns out you’ve got quite a mouth on you.”His rude words only seemed to pique his interest further.
