Chapter 1. His Majesty’s First Kiss Was with a Chicken Princess?
The Kingdom of Syenn.
That’s what people used to call it. Now it was: The Forgotten Kingdom. The Forsaken Land. The Cursed Place.
Over a hundred years ago, on the coming-of-age of the sole heir to the Kingdom of Syenn, Princess Soria, a sorcerer’s curse swallowed up a kingdom that had lasted for nearly half a millennium.
And at the heart of it all was ‘Soria Brianne de Syenn.’
She snapped her fingers at the curse raining down upon her, but it was already too late.
The magic circle glowing beneath her feet dissipated before it could even activate. The mana that once flowed freely through her body was forcibly blocked.
As the king and queen looked on, their daughter’s golden hair—which had resembled a bright sunny day and brought a smile to everyone’s face—began to turn a ghostly white. A scream filled with agony tore from their throats.
And so, in the most dazzling of places, at the happiest of moments, Soria lost everything and fell into the abyss.
The curse that devoured her spread across the entire kingdom.
Along the borders between Syenn and the neighboring countries, long thorn-covered vines shot up, stretching skyward without end.
Allied nations drew their swords in hopes of saving the Kingdom of Syenn, but all efforts ended in failure.
The thorny vines that had risen along the borders crept inward and inward, forcing the people to flee. With their homeland lost, the people of Syenn had no choice but to pack their belongings and search for new places to live.
To those attempting to leave, the vines graciously parted and opened a path. At the end of the long procession of fleeing citizens stood the knights, attendants, and maids who once protected the royal palace.
What remained were only the king and queen. And the cursed princess.
People would gather here and there and whisper tales—
That somewhere deep within those towering vines, the snow-white royal palace of Syenn still stood, guarded by the cursed royal family.
