Chapter 19
“Why do you look so serious? Do you think you’ll never get another chance?”
“More than that, I’m thinking about how to mess with Go Dohun.”
“Go Dohun from Diamond Studio? The one Gamjeong was supposed to marry? Why him?”
“He’s the reason their wedding was ruined. He had an affair with Seo Yeora.”
“Oh shit! Seo Yeora, your ex-girlfriend? Wow, that’s a huge scandal. But why do you want to go after him? Shouldn’t you be thanking him instead?”
He let out a small sigh and frowned.
“Gamjeong… cried.”
“Ha! Hahaha! Wow. You’re really mad. How did you even stay friends with her all this time? That’s some serious self-control. I noticed it back when you were a rookie. You’re tough—definitely someone who’d go far.”
“Yeah, I’m a tough guy.”
Even he thought his one-sided love was intense. And to move on from it, he knew he’d have to be even tougher.
In the meeting room, Gamjeong, Director Go Heeyoung, Go Dohun, and Seo Yeora were all present.
Ignoring the couple next to her, Gamjeong spoke to the director in a professional tone.
“I’ve reviewed the references and the design sketches. The classic suit from yesterday—isn’t that part of your plan? I don’t want to take credit for something you had already thought of.”
“Hmm, well, I’d be a little sad to give it up. But Director Heo wants a different color style for this project. He wants the real tailor suits to be the focus. He’s a bit picky.”
“……”
“That’s why I passed it on. Director Heo knows you’ve got good taste, so he said okay. Just think about it before the next meeting. Also… Director Go and Yeora, please support her well.”
“Okay.”
“What about you, Yeora?”
“…Understood.”
“Alright, I’ll leave now. You three probably have things to discuss.”
After Director Go left, Seo Yeora let out a deep sigh.
But Gamjeong ignored her and gave instructions.
“Yeora, find a tailor. One with experience in design collaborations or stage work. You’re with the field team, so there won’t be much else before shooting starts. Go Dohun, look into 1920s clothing styles with your assistants. Look beyond the materials the director gave us—check Tokyo and Shanghai too.”
Go Dohun smiled as he nodded.
“I’ll do my best.”
Then Seo Yeora, sitting beside him, pouted and mumbled.
“So now you’re Director Gam? Sounds weird… But good for you. Director Go is helping you a lot. Feels like compensation or something.”
A sharp comment, clearly meant to bother her. Yeora trying to cover her guilt with nasty words.
Gamjeong chose not to react. She didn’t want to waste her energy between these two.
“Yeah. Generous compensation.”
“Because you’re talented.”
What was funny was Go Dohun’s attitude. Just like before—so shameless.
He asked for a chance, and when she refused, he cursed her and Iseong. But now he was suddenly on her side.
Apparently, Seo Yeora felt the same. She snapped at him.
“Can you be clear for once? What are you doing between me and Gamjeong? You haven’t said a word to me since that day. Don’t you think we need to talk? I haven’t even been able to quit because of you. The juniors are whispering behind my back, and you act like nothing’s wrong. Director Go is clearly supporting Gamjeong. Ugh…”
Strangely, Seo Yeora’s words didn’t make her angry. Even though she was bringing up what happened, openly talking about their relationship, even comparing them.
Why didn’t it hurt?
Gamjeong knew how much Yeora liked Iseong. From the moment they met, she had begged to be introduced. She always stuck close to him.
Thinking about that now made everything feel childish. Like she was just acting out to get a reaction. Why? She didn’t want to know.
“Go Dohun is yours. Just don’t drag me into it.”
“That hurts, Jeong-a.”
She expected Go Dohun’s sly response. But she didn’t expect the shock on Seo Yeora’s face. She stammered.
“Why are you acting so calm all of a sudden? You were furious that day. Really jealous. And now, in just two days, you’re over Go Dohun?”
“Yeah, I got over him fast. So what? Is that wrong?”
“You should be more jealous. You should hurt more, be more angry… be more heartbroken. Just like I was.”
“What are you talking about? I was the one hurt. You two are the ones who did the hurting.”
Why was she trying to confuse her with nonsense?
“So hurt more, then.”
“Wow. Is craziness an illness? There’s no cure, huh?”
Go Dohun watched the argument with a smug smile.
“Crazy? Ha. What does Iseong say? After you and Go Dohun hooked up, you must’ve run to Iseong and told him everything, right?”
That hit a nerve. But why did it feel like Seo Yeora still had feelings for Iseong, not Go Dohun?
Why did her heart stir when Iseong’s name was mentioned?
Did you really not do anything with Iseong? She wanted to ask.
Go Dohun’s smile disappeared too when Iseong was brought up. Just like yesterday—like he was waiting to see if things worked out between them.
“You think I’d take your secret to the grave? I’ll tell everyone. Spread it everywhere.”
“As expected. Iseong is always on your side. He always chose Gamjeong over his girlfriend.”
Why say something like that? Even when they dated, she never called Iseong much, afraid of starting rumors. She avoided meeting him alone.
Why did both Go Dohun and Seo Yeora doubt her and Iseong?
Ah.
Maybe they had a reason.
Maybe something did happen between her and Iseong, just like they feared. Maybe that’s why she couldn’t feel completely innocent.
Why did it feel like she was being cornered?
She tried to hide her confusion and stood tall.
“I don’t know why you keep bringing up Iseong. This is about us three. About you two betraying me.”
“Yeah, we betrayed you. But you two always slapped us in the face.”
Seo Yeora’s confusing words only made things worse. She had to stay strong.
“Better a slap than a stab in the back.”
“You never know. Maybe you and Iseong stabbed us in the back too. Maybe you still are.”
Seo Yeora didn’t want to feel guilty, so she pushed the blame.
That left Gamjeong speechless. Her mind filled with the memories of what she and Iseong had done—how it felt like she was almost waiting for Go Dohun and Yeora to cheat, just to justify her own actions.
“Great imagination. Or maybe you just want to shift the blame.”
She lied with a straight face, pretending nothing happened. Then Go Dohun, who had just been watching, finally spoke.
“Let’s stop, Yeora. We did wrong.”
“Ha. Go Dohun, you thought the same as me. That’s why we got close. You even wanted to marry Gamjeong just to separate her from Iseong.”
Go Dohun didn’t confirm or deny it. And Seo Yeora kept going.
“You felt left out too, right? Don’t try to act innocent now. Just stop trying to play both sides.”
