Chapter 68
Sports Festival③
“The cultural club relay has started. The first runner runs 100 meters. First place goes to the Research Club, as expected, Yaro alone is fast. Second place is the Art Club. The baton being a paintbrush is pretty convenient. Third place, Home Economics Club—go, magical girl! Fourth place is the Film Research Club.”
It’s no surprise that Urahara-san isn’t good at sports. That’s why she’s the first runner. The second, third, and fourth runners are incredibly fast, so it’s fine.
“Use magic!” someone shouted. If she could, wouldn’t that count as interference?
100 meters flew by in an instant, and the baton was quickly approaching the second runner.
The second runner, Sera-san, dramatically blew off her hemp cloak. And the figure that appeared was… a bikini armor!?
“Whoa! The second runner is first-year student Sera Umika, a famous swimmer on campus! Such sensuality… amazing!”
The male spectators erupted in excitement. That girl really has an amazing figure. Her chest is prominent, her waist slim—a typical athlete’s body. Practically, it’s like running in a swimsuit, so Sera-san probably doesn’t feel any embarrassment. She’s the type who thrives on attention and turns cheers into energy.
Sera-san is dressed as a female knight, a bulky sword strapped to her waist.
The baton was passed from Urahara-san to Sera-san in third place. From magical girl to sexy female knight.
Sera-san took off at lightning speed. As expected from a girl in the physical education course—her athletic ability is incredible. She overtook the Art Club in second and closed in on the first-place Research Club. It didn’t matter that the competitors were male. She continued closing the gap.
At this pace, it looked like she could overtake them with the next baton.
The third runner was Tsukiyo Kannagi. She was the second place in the beauty contest but had overwhelming support in advance voting, receiving 70% of the votes. Even with her hemp cloak, her face alone was already adorable. Her chestnut hair flowed beautifully—she was genuinely cute.
Seeing Sera-san approaching, Tsukiyo removed her hemp cloak. A wedding dress!?
“Th-this is… I-I’m sorry. I’ve lost words at such beauty. The third runner from the Home Economics Club is the school’s Kaguya-hime, Tsukiyo Kannagi. Everyone at this academy knows her—she’s the most beautiful girl here.”
The outfit she wore for the cultural festival, reminiscent of a twelve-layered ceremonial kimono, suited her well, but this white dress was also incredible. It was tailored for running, resembling spats, but the exposed white legs drove the male audience wild.
Naturally, her role was a princess. A wedding-style white dress—after all, Tsukiyo had long been associated with a pure, princess-like image. Students with phones continuously snapped photos, and even parents visiting from outside were captivated by her beauty.
Without hesitation, Tsukiyo accepted the baton from Sera-san, still dressed as a female knight, and started running.
“The third runner runs 200 meters, and she’s fast! Home Economics Club is in the lead! They’re quickly widening the gap from second place.”
Tsukiyo herself had high athletic ability, not losing out even to students from the PE course. Among cultural clubs, she could easily leave everyone behind. The only question was whether she could run properly in those dress shoes.
Cheering for Tsukiyo came nonstop from the crowd. Ah, this must be that unofficial fan club—rumor has it that more than half the boys in school belong. The supervising teacher even says the manager is a silly older brother. How ridiculous.
Before long, 150 meters had passed, and the fourth runner, Seiya Kannagi, prepared to run. With the Home Economics Club already in first place, their victory was almost certain. Now it was a matter of how much they could hype up the audience.
Seiya removed his hemp cloak.
“Kyaaaaaaaa!”
The cheers were deafening. Seiya’s female fans were going wild.
Seiya wore a white tuxedo. At the cultural festival, he had a dark, knightly image, but this time he truly looked like a prince. The Home Economics Club was incredible—maybe not actually a tuxedo, but it looked like one, and that alone was impressive.
“The fourth runner is the Mr. Contest first-place winner, Seiya Kannagi! Truly worthy of being called the Prince of Stars. He’s so handsome it makes you jealous!”
Seiya received the baton from Tsukiyo and took her hand, running together.
“Whoa! The prince grabs the princess’s hand and runs! A beautiful brother-sister pair, the atmosphere is electric!”
The commentators didn’t even talk about second place anymore. That’s fine—they were just focusing on the most exciting part.
Seiya pulled Tsukiyo forward, ensuring that barring any major incident, they wouldn’t fall behind. Even with my poor vision, these are still track club students—they won’t lose.
Time to prepare… I removed my hemp cloak as well.
“The Home Economics Club’s final runner is the Dark Knight… Who is it?! What effect will this have on the beautiful sibling duo?”
They didn’t say my name. That might’ve been correct. After all, after all the popular runners, introducing someone like me would deflate the hype.
Still, a Dark Knight, huh? That’s exciting in a villainous way.
I drew the cardboard black sword I had been given in advance and waited at the baton exchange zone. Seiya and Tsukiyo approached.
“Let’s go.”
“Got it.”
Seiya passed through the relay zone. Normally I’d run to take the baton, but this time was different.
Seiya let go of Tsukiyo’s hand and handed the baton to me. I stabbed Seiya with the black sword—between his hand and side.
Seiya collapsed to the ground.
“Kyaaaaaaaaa!”
The crowd erupted in grief. Were they really that sad!? Everyone seemed to be having fun.
“Tsukiyo, let’s go!”
“Yes!”
I grabbed Tsukiyo’s hand and ran as the anchor.
The princess was mine!
