Chapter 108
“Ah, what the—”
Carlile frowned as he felt something damp while sleeping soundly.
His whole body felt wet, sticky, and extremely unpleasant.
“Did I sweat in my sleep or something…? Hah. I don’t even have a change of clothes… wait, huh?”
Thinking that, Carlile slowly opened his eyes—and almost stopped breathing in shock.
Although it was too dark to see clearly, a naked woman was lying in his arms.
“…What the hell.”
Carlile muttered to himself, completely unable to understand the situation.
Who was this woman, sleeping naked here?
“Am I dreaming…?”
Carlile thought he might be having a wet dream, considering how long he had remained a virgin.
But then—
Gasp!
The woman quietly opened her eyes.
“W-who are you?”
“Oppa…”
“…?”
“Handsome… oppa.”
What was she saying?
Carlile’s expression shifted to one of bewilderment.
The woman gently touched Carlile’s cheek.
Shivers ran down his spine.
The sensation was so unfamiliar and startling that he tensed up.
“P-please don’t do that.”
Carlile carefully pushed her away and snapped his fingers. Instantly, the bedroom light turned on.
“Who… are you…?”
Finally, Carlile saw the identity of the mysterious woman and was utterly shocked.
It was the woman from the tank. One of the most dangerous entities in the wizard Antiross’ laboratory.
“How…?”
As far as Carlile knew, she could never awaken unless the tank was broken. At least, that’s how it was in the game [Overlord].
“How did you get out?”
“I wanted to see you. Auuuung.”
“You wanted to see me?”
“Uung.”
The woman nodded and approached Carlile, behaving like a playful cat.
“Hey, wait.”
Carlile forcefully pushed her away.
“What are you doing? Put some clothes on first.”
“Clothes?”
“Yeah, at least wear this.”
He draped his uniform over her shoulders, deliberately averting his eyes.
“Ooh? This… Ooh?”
“Yes. Clothes.”
“Yay. Oppa gave me clothes. Uuung.”
“….”
Before Carlile could respond, the woman called out:
“Butler.”
“Hey, help me here.”
“What’s with this woman?”
The baby dragon’s pupils suddenly sharpened like a cat’s.
“She’s the woman from the tank. Looks like she’s awake.”
“Really? Hmm.”
“Do something about it. Ugh.”
Carlile looked away, unable to watch.
“Ooppaaa.”
“Haah!”
Whenever the woman tried to cling to Carlile, the baby dragon bristled its fur and growled.
The woman froze.
“Don’t come near the butler. If you do, I won’t forgive you.”
“Uuung…”
The woman pouted sadly at the dragon’s threat.
“Oppa is so nice… and handsome too…”
“Why do you call the butler ‘oppa’? And what does it matter to you if he’s handsome or not?”
“Hmm…”
The baby dragon glared at Carlile.
“I told you not to wag your tail around here and there, didn’t I?”
“I never wagged my tail!”
“Because you wagged it, this crazy woman’s acting like this.”
“That doesn’t even make sense! What did I do?”
“Who told you to be handsome? This wouldn’t have happened if you weren’t so ridiculously good-looking.”
“…That’s not my fault.”
“It is. Being born handsome is also a crime.”
“….”
Carlile gave up trying to reason with the baby dragon, too exasperated.
“So, what’s your name?”
“Beatrice…”
“Beatrice?”
“Uuung. The ugly old man called me that.”
Ugly old man? Carlile felt he knew exactly who Beatrice was referring to.
‘He must have been seriously ugly.’
That was all Carlile could think.
Beatrice was awkward and immature due to spending so long in the tank. Yet, almost instinctively, she followed Carlile.
The only saving grace was that Beatrice was very afraid of the baby dragon.
“Oppa! Hee!”
“Haah!”
“Heeeeeng!”
Whenever Beatrice tried to cling to Carlile, the baby dragon growled, saving him from a very awkward situation.
“What are you really?”
“Beatrice. Hee.”
“That’s a name. I’m asking what you are.”
“Beatrice, Beatrice. Heee.”
“….”
Carlile realized he could not have a normal conversation with Beatrice and tightly shut his eyes.
‘What are you, really?’
To find out more, Carlile dug into Antiross’ research notes and accidentally found his diary.
‘Antiross’ diary, huh.’
He flipped through it and discovered shocking content that made him frown.
“This guy was completely insane.”
“Why?”
“Read this.”
Carlile showed the baby dragon a certain passage in the diary.
“…He created her to make her his wife? Ugh.”
The baby dragon looked like it was about to vomit just imagining it.
According to Antiross’ diary, all he ever wanted was to create [the most beautiful woman in the world] as [his wife].
After years of research, Antiross cultivated her body and even placed a soul inside, naming her Beatrice.
Although not a true creation, he had successfully encroached on the realm of creation.
However, for some reason, Beatrice never awakened.
Antiross used every means to awaken her, but she remained asleep for over ten years.
The only thing he could do was sit by her cylindrical tank, professing his love and waiting desperately for her to wake.
Thirteen years after creating Beatrice, Antiross died at his desk, leaving her to sleep for hundreds of years in the lab.
‘This is terrifying.’
Carlile shuddered at Antiross’ obsession and perverse desires toward Beatrice. The diary was so disgusting, obscene, and horrifying that it made him want to scrub his brain clean.
“You know…”
“Uuung~?”
“Did you deliberately not wake up? Because of that ugly old man?”
“Uuung…”
Beatrice frowned, clearly displeased.
“He’s ugly… disgusting… gross…”
“Y-yeah.”
Carlile fully understood her reaction. Reading the diary, it was clear what Antiross had done.
‘Still, she seems kind. I would’ve killed that old man immediately if it were me.’
Carlile said to Beatrice:
“It’s too late now. Sleep, and we’ll talk in the morning.”
“Oppa, are you sleeping?”
“Yeah.”
“I’ll sleep next to you. Hee.”
“Haahhh!”
Before Carlile could refuse, the baby dragon stepped in and growled at Beatrice.
“Don’t even look at my butler. He’s mine. Dream on.”
“Fweeeeng!”
Beatrice whimpered but the dragon remained unflinching.
“You sleep on the sofa. The bed’s mine.”
“That’s unfair…”
Carlile felt a bit sorry for her.
“Feels bad leaving her on the sofa. I’m fine, so sleep in the bed.”
“Why are you pretending to be nice?”
“Because my conscience won’t let me ignore it.”
Carlile grumbled, then lay down on the sofa.
“Ugh! Silly butler!”
The baby dragon shook its head and called Beatrice over.
“You, come here.”
“I don’t want to…”
“Haahh!”
“Fineee.”
Beatrice quietly went to the bed.
“Keep an eye on him. Don’t let him attack me.”
“I’m not your night guard.”
“Please.”
“What a troublesome butler.”
The baby dragon glared at Carlile again.
The reconnaissance squad quickly found Carlile’s location.
“Woof! Woof woof!”
Bergman’s silver wolf could track him easily by scent.
“Here? Carlile is here?”
“Seems so.”
“This is Antiross’ lab, as I mentioned, Lady Helen.”
“I see.”
Kudo smirked.
“Looks like he was hiding here all along.”
“Yeah. I’d have run off to a nearby village or city myself.”
“Shall we go in?”
Bergman guided them into Antiross’ lab, heading toward the bedroom where Carlile was sleeping.
Bang!
The lights turned on, revealing the bedroom.
“Wh-what?!”
“This is insane!”
The squad was shocked at the sight. Lady Helen, too, was stunned.
“W-what the hell is this…”
Helen clenched her eyes, trying to control her anger.
“Some habits never change, huh.”
“How did he even get a woman here?”
“You idiot! Don’t you know? It’s Carlile! Being handsome makes everything possible!”
“How did he even hold back all this time?”
The squad complained, giving their commentary on the scene.
Carlile was lying on the sofa with Beatrice clinging to him, wearing only his uniform jacket. Clearly, something intimate had happened.
“…You’re here.”
Carlile slowly opened his eyes, sensing their presence.
“Private Carlile.”
Helen glared at him with a cold, contemptuous smile.
“I once trusted you. I thought you had left behind your promiscuous past.”
“Um…?”
“You never change.”
“What do you mean?”
“You’re trash. Utter, unparalleled trash.”
Helen left without another word.
“Why is Lady Helen like that?”
Bergman replied grimly:
“Look at you. Do you think she can stay silent seeing this?”
“My… what… why is she here?”
Carlile noticed Beatrice in his arms and flinched.
“Do we know, or do we not? And for heaven’s sake, at least put clothes on her!”
“Here, use this.”
Kudo quickly draped a cloak over Beatrice.
“It’s not what you think, so don’t freak out.”
“Are you kidding me? It isn’t what it looks like?!”
“Shut up already. We’re not fools.”
“Admit it, man! You perverted idiot!”
No one believed Carlile’s protests.
