Chapter 3. I Became the Youngest Princess of AsuraMasura (2)
“Oh my, it seems Her Highness the Princess really likes the new mobile.”
“Ah, ba!”
Of course I like it—why wouldn’t I?
Maybe all the suffering in my past life was worth it, because now I get to experience my favorite novel from a front-row VIP seat!
Basically, I was born as a background character with a diamond spoon in my mouth. That was the setup for my new life.
Even as a background character, this life was on a whole different level from the last.
I remembered the voice I heard when I was reincarnating.
‘Looks like I’m the one who got saved!’
Living as the youngest princess, Cecilia, was truly… a series of happy, warm days.
Just by breathing, lifting my head, rolling over, or crawling, I could earn praise and affectionate glances.
“Have Their Highnesses arrived?”
“Yes. Is the baby awake?”
“Don’t call her ‘baby,’ Theo. She has a beautiful name—Cecilia.”
“Well, I’ve been called ‘baby’ up until now. I just wanted to call someone else that for once.”
“Alright, our baby Theo.”
“Oh, come on, sis!”
I was lying in my cradle doing some vision training by tracking the colorful mobile when the room filled with the cheerful chatter of children.
“Hi, baby!”
“Cecile, your third older sister and brother are here.”
Two round faces popped up above the cradle—my older brother Theodore and one-year-older sister Rebecca.
Well, “older” was a bit of an understatement—they were twelve years older than me.
“Ah, kyaha!”
“Are you happy to see us?”
Of course I am! Even our father, who’s over forty, and our mother were stunning, so it was no surprise that all of my siblings were drop-dead gorgeous too.
Whenever I saw their perfectly cute, distinct faces, I couldn’t help but smile.
“Wow, are all babies this cute…?”
That’s my line, big brother.
As my eyesight developed and I could clearly see people’s faces, I concluded that the harmony in the royal family was definitely helped by their good looks.
“Theo, I don’t think you were this cute when you were little.”
“You’re only a year older than me! What do you even remember?”
Theodore had neatly combed bangs framing his sparkling eyes, and Rebecca had a gentle expression matching her soft, cloud-like curls.
They were still only twelve and thirteen, but I had no doubt they’d grow into stunning adults.
‘Just look at Mom and Dad—it’s in the genes.’
I felt proud of my rational conclusion.
In fact, in the original novel, Theodore made the list of the most handsome men in the empire’s social circles.
Later, people would say he was the flower boy who followed in the male lead Leopold’s footsteps.
‘Hehe. Looks like I’ve got a lot to look forward to in this life.’
“Kyaha!” Pleased, I let out a giggle without realizing it, and Theodore and Rebecca gave me sparkling looks.
“Oh, so lovely.”
“I could watch her all day and not get bored…”
“Theo, Becky! Did you two even wash up before coming in?”
A sharp voice rang out then—undoubtedly my second sister, Rosellia, judging from her firm tone.
“Eek.”
Theodore sniffed his collar and, catching a whiff of sweat, began to back away.
Ugh, you’re supposed to be the future heartthrob of your generation…
“Becky, stop using your holy power for silly things.”
“I just came from transcribing in my room, Sis.”
“Babies are much more delicate than us—you have to be more careful.”
Theodore and Rebecca had no choice but to follow the maids to the side room.
“Cecile, have you been well? Your second sister is here.”
Rosellia approached my now-quiet cradle and picked me up.
‘So cozy…’
Maybe it was because she had two younger siblings beneath me, but she held me with practiced ease. And since she was destined to become the captain of the Holy Knights, a baby like me was no burden at all.
“Did you get along well with your nanny today? Did you eat a lot?”
“Ah-ba!”
I smiled sweetly to show I wanted to answer.
“Madam, our Cecile always just smiles like this. Is that okay? Theo used to cry all the time.”
“Her Highness the Fourth Princess is just gentle, that’s all. She even seems to recognize you.”
“Our Cecile is truly brilliant.”
Pleased by the nanny’s warm response, Rosellia cooed and carried me over to the mirror on the wall.
Rosellia’s bobbed hair was neatly trimmed around her ears. And right beside her was a baby’s face with giant eyes rolling around in chubby, pale cheeks.
‘That’s Cecile’s face!’
This was my favorite moment of the day—seeing my new face as baby Cecile, something I couldn’t do on my own.
“Cecile, look! There’s a baby in the mirror. Who could it be? Isn’t she lovely?”
Rosellia tilted me toward the mirror. Without thinking, I reached out and placed my hand on the reflection.
‘It’s thrilling no matter how many times I see it.’
Beneath soft silver hair gleamed emerald eyes, vibrant and full of presence. If you looked closely, golden flecks shimmered within the irises, adding to the mystical vibe.
Both the silver hair and the gold-flecked eyes were distinct traits of the imperial family.
‘Surely even people in this world must find this incredibly pretty?’
Otherwise, they wouldn’t be doting on me like this.
Satisfied by my airtight logic, I giggled again. Oh no, drool.
“Aww, our Cecile smiles so much.”
Rosellia wiped the drool from my chin with her sleeve. Maybe she had come straight from training, because her indoor dress smelled fresh, like fabric softener.
Sniff sniff. Unable to resist, I buried my nose into her chest.
“Cecile really loves her sister, doesn’t she?”
Yes, I do!
‘Rosellia is one of the most important characters among my siblings!’
At seventeen, Rosellia was already a standout trainee in the Holy Knights.
She was destined to become their commander.
Since the male lead, Leopold, was set to become a Holy Knight as well, Rosellia often appeared as his superior in daily life episodes, mission scenes, and even the final battle.
‘When the heroine got kidnapped by the second male lead, Rosellia gave Leopold time off so he could pull himself together. She was super popular for being a cool boss.’
Come to think of it, since this was set about twenty years before the novel began, most of the key characters must already exist somewhere in this world.
‘There’s that bit where Leopold and I used to talk when we were kids, so he must’ve been born already. Amelie was older than him, so her too…’
The realization hit me like a wave—I was really inside the world of Heavenly Eyes.
‘I’ll get to meet everyone as I grow older. I can’t wait.’
Hehe, just thinking about it made me smile all silly again… Slurp, there goes the drool.
“Cecile, shall we see what’s outside the window?”
This window, overlooking the main palace’s rear garden, was my favorite spot, especially since I wasn’t allowed out of the nursery until I could walk.
In the late afternoon, the slanting sun would bathe the room in warm light, making for a beautiful, sleepy scene.
“Becky, hold Cecile for a second. I’ll open the window.”
Rosellia handed me off to Rebecca, who had returned with clean hands, and stretched out her long arm to push the window open. Mmm, the smell of autumn.
“Did you win your match today, Sis? You said you’d spar with the knights due for promotion next year.”
“It was close, but I lost—so frustrating. They’ll be protecting the royal family someday, so I can’t afford to lose… but it made me all the more determined.”
Whoa. They say talent comes with a competitive spirit.
I listened to their conversation, imagining the world outside my nursery.
After their duties, my siblings had gotten into the habit of stopping by to tell me about their day.
Even though they lived in Freesia Palace, which was reserved for the emperor’s children, and not in the main palace like me, they visited without fail.
As expected from a “close-knit family” setting.
‘Guess it’s hard to have bad relationships when you’re all beautiful.’
Especially compared to the silent, estranged sibling dynamics of my past life.
Just then, a cold early-autumn breeze slipped in through the open window. I shivered without meaning to.
“Oh no, are you cold, Cecile?”
“Bwa.”
I wanted to say I was fine, but all that came out was more drool. When will I be able to move this tongue properly?
At that moment, I felt warmth spreading from Rebecca’s hand across my back.
“Feels nice, doesn’t it?”
Heh. I stared up at her, not even thinking of closing my mouth.
“That’s it, Becky. If you’re going to use holy power, use it for Cecile.”
“You know something like this is no strain for me.”
Ah, so it was holy power.
‘Right, Rebecca used to sneak in during the summer to cool me down too.’
Blessed with immense holy power, Rebecca was predicted to be a top contender for the papacy twenty years later.
Everyone in this world was said to be born with some degree of holy power.
‘So even I’ll be able to cool myself down someday? In my past life, I couldn’t even afford air conditioning because of the electric bill…!’
Picturing a cool, comfortable summer without needing Rebecca’s help, I grinned widely again.
‘I really hit the jackpot with this reincarnation!’
“Her Highness the Fourth Princess must possess great holy power as well.”
“It’s as if the gods sent more angels to bless the empire through the royal family.”
“His Majesty’s reign is truly prosperous.”
The growing interest in holy power was only natural. Because I couldn’t understand speech yet—so they thought—the nanny and maids spoke freely in front of me.
‘Holy power was a major theme in Heavenly Eyes, too.’
People called this era the “Age of Holiness,” since everyone was born with some degree of divine power.
When the demon realm invaded and destroyed ancient civilization centuries ago, only those with holy power had survived the darkness.
And 500 years ago, the first emperor, chosen by the gods, repelled the demon armies with powerful holy energy and founded the empire.
‘Which became Asura…Masura? Ugh, no matter how heroic, their naming sense is awful.’
For the direct imperial line, strong holy power was not just a birthright but a symbol of legitimacy and might.
Among the commoners too, it was crucial—those born with stronger power had better chances of climbing the ranks, whether through the church or as a Holy Knight.
So it was no wonder everyone was so thrilled about the “youngest angel” arriving.
‘Hehe, I do look like an angel, too.’
And so, when my first birthday came around—
“Your Highness, today is a very important day.”
“Uwooh (important)?”
I rounded my eyes and mouth at the nanny’s words and asked with curiosity.
Not that she understood me, of course…
