Chapter : 03
The Bachelor Noble Reincarnates in Another World
I was granted the opportunity to be reincarnated into the world of the Solo God. To survive in this other world, I asked a number of questions.
The world managed by the Solo God was like the fantasy worlds found in games or anime, where skills and magic existed, and monsters roamed freely, preying on humans.
The level of civilization was roughly equivalent to medieval times on Earth, with science not particularly advanced.
“So, life in this other world will be more inconvenient than modern Japan, huh?”
Living comfortably as a bachelor means inconvenience is unacceptable. The luxurious, comfortable life I had in Japan was thanks to wonderful household appliances. Living in a world without those would be tough.
“Speaking of the world I manage, humans on Earth have an extraordinary desire for convenience compared to other worlds. Even in the Solo Godâs world, magical toolsâsort of like appliancesâexist, but they fall far short of Earthâs standards.”
“Magical tools? They exist in the other world?”
“Yes, right? Theyâre made using monster materials and magical power, functioning like household appliances.”
When the Earth God asked for confirmation, the Solo God nodded.
I see. In that case, it might not be a bad idea to acquire the ability to make magical tools and try recreating modern Japanese appliances in this world.
The profession of making magical tools would likely be a specialized occupation. Pursuing it would at least ensure I wouldnât struggle to make a living. Itâs a creative profession, so I wouldnât be tied to a company like in Japan.
Since I intend to live as a bachelor, Iâll need more money than most people.
In the world managed by the Solo God, there are no nursing homes. Most people rely on family for care, while the wealthy hire servants to look after them.
Of course, I have no intention of creating a family, so the former is out. Therefore, my old age would rely on the latter.
That means I need even more money than an ordinary person.
With money, almost anything is possible.
Itâs best to secure a profession that can earn a steady income.
Good. As I spoke with the Earth God, I could see my path gradually taking shape.
“Can you only receive one ability?”
“You can have multiple, but the bigger the ability you wish for, the less power youâll be granted.”
“Iâd like the ability to create magical tools. Is that considered a big wish?”
“…Hmm, thatâs an interesting request. Thatâs still small enoughâI can grant it.”
It seems the power to create magical tools isnât considered a major ability.
Then it should be fine to wish for other things as well.
“Then, I want a healthy body that never gets sick.”
“Of course thatâs possible, but may I ask why?”
“No matter how well I plan my life, health span is uncontrollable.”
Yes. No matter how good the job or how comfortable life is, dying early makes it all meaninglessâjust like what happened to me earlier.
“Even though a new life awaits, youâre already set on staying single!?”
“Naturally. I wonât marry, even in another world.”
Even if my environment changes, my love of being alone wonât. Whatâs so surprising about that?
“…I must admit, your determination to remain single even after experiencing pain is impressive. No wonder the Solo God likes you.”
Beside the Earth God, the Solo God clapped his hands and laughed uproariously.
He seems to thoroughly enjoy my decision to remain single even after reincarnation.
Well, thatâs fine. If I get a body that doesnât get sick, the risk of dying young is reduced, and I wonât have to settle down out of fear for my future health.
When the body weakens, the mind also weakens. Even I, determined to live as a bachelor, would be at risk if my mind and body were frail.
Being able to eliminate that possibility beforehand is a blessing.
I neither particularly like nor dislike children. If anything, theyâre neutral to me.
I feel no joy in raising them, nor do I find loneliness painful.
The benefits of living as a bachelor increase, and the drawbacks are entirely removed.
At this rate, marriage has no meaning for me.
As I smiled at this thought, the Earth God looked horrified, while the Solo God laughed happily as usual.
“Can I still receive more than these two abilities?”
“Yes, you can.”
“Then Iâd like the ability to handle basic magic, along with swordsmanship and martial arts.”
Iâve spent my life far removed from combat. Without some combat skills, I wouldnât survive in a world overrun by monsters.
“Then perhaps youâll get [All Attribute Compatibility] and skills in [Swordsmanship] and [Martial Arts]. Is that enough? There are stronger skills like those in the games and anime you know.”
The Earth God spoke, testing me.
“Isnât the fun in steadily building up skills like this? I donât need anything more.”
I canât deny that Iâve thought about that.
There are likely insanely powerful magic abilities and cheat-like skills.
But I have no interest in them.
I donât want to be the strongest in another world.
My goal is purely a comfortable, elegant bachelor life. Thatâs all.
“Earth bachelors enjoy steadily working on things, donât they?”
“Call it self-investment.”
Self-investment is great: reading, studying for certifications, training.
Reading broadens oneâs perspective and increases knowledge.
Studying for certifications provides stimulation and enhances abilities.
Training improves both physical ability and mental stability.
All of these contribute to a meaningful life. Thatâs why we bachelors donât skimp on self-investment.
“…I understand the benefits of self-investment. Then I will grant you aptitude as a magical tool craftsman, and the skills [Healthy Body], [All Attribute Compatibility], [Swordsmanship], and [Martial Arts].”
The Earth God said so, but it seems it was actually the Solo God who granted them.
A black aura rose from his body and flowed into mine.
“Now that Iâve explained everything and granted your powers, Iâll send you to the world where the Solo God resides.”
As the Earth God swung his arm, a large magic circle appeared at my feet, glowing brightly.
Through the rising particles, the Solo God gave me a sinister smile before disappearing.
“I hope your new life brings you happiness, Kokurajo-kun.”
In the end, the Solo God didnât speak to me directly even once, and I was enveloped in particles and reincarnated into the other world.
â
When I woke up, a young woman with deep blue hair was peering at me.
She seemed to be in her late teens, with a well-defined face and emerald-like eyes.
Next to her was a man with chestnut hair wearing black-rimmed glasses.
Both wore gentle, affectionate smiles, looking at me like something precious.
Their gaze made me uneasy, so I looked around.
There was a solid ceiling, bookshelves, and a closet.
The interior suggested a reasonably good home.
Then I noticed a small, chubby hand.
A body that looked far younger than 35.
As the Earth God had said, I had truly been reincarnated into the world of the Solo God.
Then the two in front of me might be my parents.
“âââââă»ă»ă»ă»ââââ”
The woman smiled warmly and spoke, but I couldnât understand a word.
From the sounds, it didnât appear to be Japanese.
“Uh-uh, ah-ah.”
I tried to make a sound myself, but my tongue wouldnât cooperate.
Being a baby, my tongue was still uncoordinated. What came out was pure babbling.
Yet the parents were delighted, and the woman lifted me up with a radiant smile.
Though my body was a babyâs, my consciousness remained that of a 35-year-old from my previous life.
Being held by a younger woman was nothing but humiliating.
I was powerless as a baby and had no choice but to be pampered by my mother.
âŠThis is hell.
