Chapter 4
“You finally remembered me.”
Huh…? Who…?
A boy with an otherworldly, beautiful air was looking straight at me.
“I am Liel, the creator of this world.”
Eh? Creator… so basically a god, right?
Then that means this god is the one who reincarnated me?
“Hold on a second! I’ve been doing my best all this time, and yet you reincarnated me into Tiana—a girl with an execution awaiting her in the future?! What’s the meaning of this?!”
Yuzu pressed the creator, Liel, harshly.
And reincarnating into a character inside a novel? What even is that? Is that even possible?
“Please calm down. I’ll explain everything from here.”
First things first, I need him to explain where this place is.
Yuzu took a deep breath, her expression settling down. She decided to ask Liel some of the questions she had been dying to know.
“Liel, can I ask you a few questions?”
Liel hesitated for a moment.
“Strictly speaking, I’m not supposed to, but I’ll tell you as much as I can.”
“Okay.”
She needed some information to grasp this situation.
“Then first—where exactly is this place?”
“This place is a room of memories that I oversee. Each room stores the memories of a person’s life so far.”
Liel looked a bit proud as he said this, which even made him seem a little cute.
Managing memories, huh… Then why is he only showing me these memories now?
“Next… why did you bring me here?”
Liel glanced at Tiana with an apologetic look, then averted his eyes.
Yuzu saw his expression and felt there must be something behind it.
Liel’s mouth moved soundlessly; he didn’t seem able to begin speaking.
“It’s okay, Liel. You can take your time.”
Even if he’s the one who put me through all this misfortune, I won’t press him harshly.
Liel finally began speaking, looking flustered.
“I deeply apologize. I’m in charge of managing souls, but another soul ended up inside the vessel originally meant for you. As a result, the vessel left for you was that of Lady Tiana Astaire—the person you believed to be just a character in a novel.”
He spoke while glancing nervously at her.
Huh? Wait, what? So I’m not Sato Yuzu after all?
Because of Liel’s mistake, I went through all that suffering?
“Why are you only telling me this now?!
I finally passed my entrance exams and thought I could escape from my father!”
Yuzu was shocked by what she was hearing, but more than shock, she felt sadness.
She thought everything she’d done up until now had been for nothing.
Tears threatened to fall.
“What I’m about to tell you will be long, so I’ve prepared chairs. Please have a seat.”
As he said this, Liel conjured up seats.
