Chapter : 19
Hayun, too, had not the slightest thought of running away. Maybe it was because she had gone through this a few times already. At first, she had been dazed, but now she was holding onto Geonhyeongās neck as if it were second nature. As their kiss deepened, she tightened her arms around him, as though pleading for more. Maybe it was because that short kiss before their nap had left her wanting.
No⦠more than thatā¦
Hayun let out an unconscious moan, but at the same time, a strange realization hit her. The more she kissed Geonhyeong, the stronger her yearning grew. Was she always this greedy of a person?
At this rateā¦
What would happen next? She felt both a flicker of fear and curiosity. It was like standing before a roller coaster at an amusement park. She was always the type to hesitate in fear and end up missing outābut this time felt different. Because she wasnāt the only one curious.
āHaaā¦ā
At last, Geonhyeongās lips pulled away. Still half-held in his arms, Hayun looked up at his face. His pitch-black hair tousled in every direction, faint wrinkles between his brows, long monolidded eyes, and pupils as dark as his hairāeyes that seemed to see right through every thought she had.
āHhk.ā
Hayun exhaled a shallow breath. The thin T-shirt she wore was pushed up along with her underwear. Not that it mattered much, since pressed against him this closely, clothes had no real meaning. And yet, even as his black hair disappeared from her sightline, she had no thought of stopping him.
He could clearly read her thoughts. Noāperhaps even the ones she herself hadnāt realized.
āHhhā¦ā
His dark hair brushed against her chest. The bunched fabric pressed down beneath her collarbone. Hayunās moan grew sharper. It wasnāt because of the tickle of his hair, nor the weight of her rumpled clothes. Maybe it was the rising heat in her body, but everything felt heightened. The cool air of the car, the scorching touch of his breath against her skin, the feel of his sleek, strong hair gripped unconsciously in her hand.
Even with her eyes closed, she could picture every movement he made. The sting of his sucking, the tender sweep of his tongue, the playful pecks like a bird after seed.
āH-howā¦ā
Hayunās voice spilled out between her moans, turning into a plea. She didnāt even know what she was asking for. Justāplease, do something. Do something to me.
āDamnā¦ā
Her heated, fragile whimper made Geonhyeongās brow furrow tightly. His back had been aching for a while now, to the point of madness. Maybe itāll be fineā¦
He glanced quickly out the window. The rain had grown heavier. The pounding of it drowned out all outside sounds. And Hayunās moans filled the car but didnāt leak beyond. The windows were already tinted dark, and now the storm blurred everything outside. It was, in every sense, a sealed-off room.
Desire stirred deep in his gut.
Butā
āā¦Time has passed more than I thought.ā
He finally pulled away with a sigh. Hayun, still flushed, looked at him in bewilderment. The sudden loss of his warmth left her feeling inexplicably cold.
Did I⦠do something wrong?
She stole a glance at him, but he was expressionless as he straightened her clothes. Yet in his head, it was a battlefield. As his fingers pulled down her shirt, they brushed against her smooth skin.
Damn, damn, damn.
Her flushed skin still radiated heat, smooth beyond belief. He felt like he was losing his mind. Butāthere was no way their first time could happen here.
He tried to calm himself, but her earlier whimpers still echoed in his head. Please⦠do something.
She wanted it last time too⦠and this time as well?
The suppressed, dark desire reared its head again. Not here, then somewhere else⦠His lips parted again.
āUmā¦ā
āā¦Itās late, isnāt it?ā
But this time, Hayun seemed to have regained her senses too. She had kept glancing at the clock before, and now she remembered.
Ah, why hadnāt he thought of it sooner? Hayun had always grown up quietly at home. By contrast, her older sister Hye-yeon was social, always out and about, to the point even he had heard rumors about her. In shortāHye-yeon was āthe outgoing type.ā Maybe that was why Hayun was so strictly monitored. Maybe she even had a curfew.
In the end, Geonhyeong sighed in resignation.
āYouāre soaked. You might catch a cold. Iāll take you home.ā
Hayun bit her lip at his calm words. A cold was a flimsy excuse, when in truth she was already burning with heat. Why the sudden change of heart? Had she done something wrong?
The scenery outside began to move. Both of them sat in silence as the car carried them away.
ā¦Kind of disappointing.
Hayunās idle thought startled her. Disappointing? Whenever she was with him, she found herself anticipating somethingāsomething she hadnāt even known she wanted.
Before long, enough time had passed that it wouldnāt even be early anymore when she returned home. Her sister would probably be satisfied.
⦠⦠ā¦
āTrue, getting rained on⦠coming home makes sense.ā
Back at home, Hayun muttered to herself as she headed for the bathroom, trying to console her faint disappointment. Though oddly, it was only once she arrived home that the dampness started to bother her.
After a shower, she went to her roomāand found someone she hadnāt expected waiting.
āWhatā¦?ā
It was Hye-yeon, looking sour-faced. Hayun blinked blankly at her sister. Her wet hair wrapped in a towel, she tilted her head.
āYouāre home later than usual todayā¦ā
āLate or early, the strange part is that you came home at all.ā
So now coming home was wrong too? Dumbfounded, Hayun ignored her and moved to her vanity. As she dried her hair, she caught her sisterās reflection in the mirror. The corners of Hye-yeonās lips were curled in a mischievous smirk. Then she rememberedā
That odd outfit. And the sports bra.
Hayun narrowed her eyes and turned.
āā¦You knew it was going to rain, didnāt you?ā
āOh my. Guess the forecast was right for once. So, you did go to the park after all?ā
āThen, that outfit tooā¦!ā
No wonder it had seemed strange for her sister to own such normal clothes. Hayun pouted, her lower lip sticking out. Unbothered, Hye-yeon added casually:
āYou know, nothingās sexier than a wet T-shirt. I just⦠emphasized it a little, thatās all.ā
A little? Hayunās eyes widened in disbelief. But Hye-yeon remained unfazed, tilting her head playfully.
āStill, for him not to take the bait⦠what is that guy, a monk? A rock? Or maybe heās got⦠unusual tastes?ā
āUnusual tastesā¦?ā
What was that supposed to mean? Hye-yeon, counting possibilities on her fingers, stood up and declared:
āNo, I canāt let this go. Especially since itās about the man my precious little sister is going to marryā¦ā
āWhat does that have to do with your pride? And since when do you call me precious?ā
Hayun, towel still over her head, looked at her sister in disbelief. If anything, it was just her sister being angry things hadnāt gone her way.
āThereās not a man Iāve wanted that I couldnāt win over. But this one? Even with my full effort, he still hasnāt fallen?ā
āF-fallenā¦?ā
āThis wonāt do.ā
āā¦Why are you even⦠what exactly wonāt do?ā
Hayun gave a weak laugh and turned back to the mirror, applying cream to her face. Sure, her sisterās pride in her āskillsā had taken a blow, but still.
ā¦Though I guess Iām the same.
She shook her head. Whatās there to be upset about? Just a little disappointment.
No! Not even disappointment!
Her hand moved more roughly, smearing cream onto her cheeks until they turned red. But Hye-yeon continued unfazed:
āNo, this wonāt do. That Geon-bbang or whateverāā
āItās Geonhyeongā¦ā
Hayun absentmindedly corrected her while still rubbing cream in. Growing up, Hye-yeon had always bullied herāpulling her hair, speaking harshly, being cruel.
ā¦And yetā¦
Maybe because they were both ignored by their mother, sometimes the two sistersā hearts aligned. And thanks to Hye-yeon dragging her along, she at least got to leave the house once in a while.
ā¦Of course, she really just used me as an excuse to go out and play.
But in those moments, they were no different from any other sisters. Otherwise, how would they have survived their motherās cold gaze and their fatherās indifference?
And now, her sister was treating seducing Geonhyeong like her greatest mission.
Why does that⦠almost feel reassuring?
The thought annoyed her. What was that kiss-storm earlier, only to stop midway? Did she lack charm?
As Hayun frowned, Hye-yeon clenched a fist in determination.
āFine. Iāll make sure that Choi Geonhyeong falls for Na Hayun, no matter what it takes.ā
Beside her, Hayun nodded vigorously. Next time⦠no matter what.
ā¦Though she had no idea next time meant what, exactly.
