RVMPT Chapter 100

Chapter 100

Everyone’s eyes turned to Harold as he quietly began to speak.

“One day, they came to me on their own.”

“In person?”

The viscount, excited and full of anticipation, clenched his fists and asked in a hurry.

Everyone else seemed just as eager, their eyes shining with curiosity.

“Who was it?”

As everyone waited for Harold’s answer, he raised his arm and pointed upwards.

All eyes followed his fingertip.

He was pointing beyond the large window. What was out there?

People looked closely, puzzled. All they could see was the vast sky.

Occasionally, a bird flew by, but that couldn’t be it…

Eventually, one by one, people gave up and rubbed their eyes. The sunlight had made them sore.

“I don’t see anything except the sky… Is something really there?”

“There’s a miracle.”

“…What?”

The viscount looked confused, but Harold simply shook his head.

“No point explaining further. You wouldn’t get it anyway.”

“What…?”

The viscount opened his mouth to protest, but Harold ignored him.

Instead, he turned to Diana and gently took her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers. He smiled.

Diana leaned in and whispered, “Was that okay to explain like that?”

“Is there a better explanation than that?”

Well, that was true. Diana nodded.

It was divine power — a miracle. And since the word “divine” suggested something from the sky, it fit.

Even though faith wasn’t strong in the empire, stories of miracles and mysterious events did get around. People would likely accept it just fine.

“But there’s one thing that’s not right.”

“What is it?”

Diana followed Harold’s gaze to the sky. The sharp blue color felt like a sign that the first snow would soon fall.

Then she looked back and saw him already watching her.

“That sky is cold,” he said softly.

Then Harold kissed her beneath the eye.

As their lips touched, his body absorbed her divine power. It soothed his tired body gently, and he thought again — this power was just like her.

“My sky is warm.”

Like spring, not winter.

Her trembling eyelashes parted just enough for her sky-colored eyes to meet his more deeply.

Harold smiled with longing, eyes full of his “sky.”

***

The party was in full swing. Everyone was enjoying themselves as if the earlier incident had never happened.

As the event neared its end, the thought of finalizing the contract kept lingering in my mind.

‘It’s just a small matter.’

It was something that had to be done, but the more I thought about it, the more uneasy I felt.

Would I cry when it’s time to leave? I wondered, sipping wine to quench my thirst while conversing with the noblewomen.

Looking around, I realized I had greeted everyone present.

‘Ah.’

There was one person I hadn’t spoken to.

Our eyes met as I looked at Count Garcia. His dark expression softened into a faint smile.

Before he could approach, I turned my head.

In that brief moment, his expression twisted with discomfort. However, I felt no sympathy.

‘He must be having a hard time.’

When it was first revealed that Harold had been healed, many nobles congratulated Count Garcia. They probably thought our relationship would improve now that he was invited to the party.

But now, no one was near him. Ignoring his greetings was a silent way of expressing a desire to avoid further involvement. The other nobles must have noticed.

“Madam.”

Harold, who had been conversing with other nobles, wrapped his arm around my waist.

“Shall we wrap things up?”

“Yes, it seems it’s time to conclude the party.”

At his signal, the orchestra began playing the closing piece, signaling the end of the event.

After all the guests had left, I headed to my room. After bathing and changing, Harold arrived.

I followed him to the office. We finalized the contract, and I looked up at Harold.

Now, he would offer compensation for healing him and propose a new contract, wanting my abilities.

I decided not to refuse this time.

I would let my guard down, accept his offer, and then escape as soon as possible.

“I have something for you.”

“You mean money?”

I extended both hands eagerly.

Smiling at my obvious expression, Harold chuckled.

“I’ll give you that too.”

“That too?”

Could it be an additional reward?

My heart raced at the thought.

But if he were giving me more money, he would have mentioned an additional fee.

What could it be? Land? Property? A mine?

Harold might have prepared something beyond my imagination.

He wouldn’t give me something I couldn’t handle, would he?

I looked at him with a mix of curiosity and tension.

Then, he placed something onto my hands.

It was small, heavy, and cold.

I immediately checked and found a key.

‘What kind of key is this?’

The key was clean, showing no signs of rust, indicating it had been well-maintained.

However, its design seemed quite old-fashioned.

From ‘Diana’s’ memories, this type of key seemed to be used in mansions built over 300 years ago.

It reminded me of the mansion in the Garcia territory.

It didn’t feel like an ordinary key. I quickly looked up at Harold.

“What is this key for?”

“It’s the key to the Baisen family’s treasure vault.”

“Huh…?”

A treasure vault…?

A treasure vault is a place where heirlooms or important items are stored.

“You have the right to possess this, so keep it.”

“Me…?”

“Yes, you. If you ever go to the territory, I’ll share the location of the treasure vault with you.”

“…?”

Why is he sharing this with me?

I don’t have the right to know.

Treasure vaults are known only to the head of the family, the spouse, and the younger branch.

Only they can possess the key.

“I’ll also share the secret passages in the mansion with you tomorrow. There aren’t many, so it won’t be hard to remember.”

No, why is he sharing this with me?

“And…”

Harold seemed about to say something more, so I straightened my back.

‘What else is there?’

His opening mouth was terrifying.

“This is the key to my personal safe at the Imperial Bank. If there’s something difficult to buy using the family’s name, feel free to use it. Or, I can change it to your name.”

“Ah, no! I’m fine! I like money, but I haven’t lost my conscience.”

I rejected it with all my might.

“Diana, if you’re taking what’s yours, who would say you have no conscience? If anyone does, just tell me.”

But why is this mine?

My head was spinning.

No, more precisely, my mind couldn’t process this sudden situation.

“…Diana.”

“Yes?”

When I came to my senses, I found a check for 5,000 gold coins, Harold’s personal safe key, and the treasure vault key in my hands.

Harold was standing, looking down at me.

His navy-blue eyes narrowed between his long lashes.

“Shall we return to the bedroom now, Diana?”

“Harold, is that all you wanted to say?”

“Yes. Do you have something you want to say?”

“No. It’s not that.”

My head was too confused.

‘Didn’t he want my abilities?’

So, he wasn’t being overly nice for that reason?

The confusion made my head ache, and the pain was so intense that I felt dizzy.

I awkwardly stood up and looked up at Harold.

For a moment, his usual smile seemed to fade.

But in the blink of an eye, Harold was smiling gently as usual.

I wondered if I had seen it wrong, but it was such a quick change that I couldn’t be sure.

“I want to get healthy soon, Diana. So let’s have more skinship starting tomorrow.” I possessed a villainess who was kicked out after committing atrocities. If this continues, I will starve to death or die from the cold. Fortunately, there was no law that said I would die a dog’s death. [System: A gift for the possessed who is flustered by the sudden possession! I will give you one of the abilities of the female protagonist in a web novel you read in the past!] That’s how I became the only healer in this world. * * * With my healing ability, the male protagonist’s older brother and I entered into a contract marriage. I was promised 10,000 gold coins in exchange for curing him. “It’s convenient because my goal is money.” At first, he spoke coldly… “You’re too naive. Is that all you need?” “Huh?” “You saved me, so you should be greedy for more.” “You’re going to give me more money, right?” I reached out to him, and he placed his hand on top of mine. “If you have me, you can have everything.”
