[Chapter 16] Lost Land (5)
A chaotic blend of sounds assaulted his ears, but he quickly grasped where he was.
The clinking of metal was unmistakable — the distinct sound of dishes clashing.
Peeking through a tiny crack, he could faintly glimpse what was happening outside.
It really sounds like a kitchen, doesn’t it?
Then it’s probably an inn or a tavern.
Are we even allowed to talk about this?
Honestly, we shouldn’t. Phantom would benefit more by turning off the stream and playing solo. The fact he’s keeping it on is impressive.
[Quest Updated]
Eliminate the cult officer ‘Rahel’.
The quest changed!!
Damn, it’s always the ones named Rahel who turn out to be villains.
Rahel’s guaranteed to be evil.
This has to be the true ending route, right?
Pretty much guaranteed, lol.
Did you see how the viewer count plummeted as soon as the location and quest updated? Hilarious.
Moments ago, his viewership had soared past 5,000 — but in an instant, 500 viewers dropped off.
It was obvious they were players racing into [Lost Land] themselves, hoping to claim the prize.
But Dojun didn’t care in the slightest.
Those people weren’t watching to see him — there was no point in dwelling on those who wouldn’t stick around.
“I can’t leave just yet,” he muttered quietly.
Through the crack, he could see three people in the kitchen.
They weren’t cooking — they looked like they were taking a break, casually cleaning up.
Rushing in now might work, but if they discovered the hidden passage, word would spread quickly to the enemy.
I have no intel on this place. One wrong move, and it’s over.
Dojun moved like the Phantom of his past life.
There were three principles Phantom always kept when taking a job:
Be careful. Be stealthy. Be efficient.
Dojun was the type who preferred to wait for an opening rather than forcing one.
But this wasn’t a covert assassination.
Thousands were watching live — he couldn’t just wait forever.
He needed a new plan.
If there’s no opening, I’ll make one.
He scanned the storeroom.
Of course, it wasn’t an ordinary pantry — alongside ingredients, the place was lined with knives, shields, bows, axes, and various weapons.
It was obvious these cultists were preparing for something big.
An idea sparked in Dojun’s mind, and he started retracing his steps.
“Give me a minute — I need to grab something,” he said.
???
Where’s he going?
He’s not actually backing off like those trolls said, right??
The viewers fretted in the chat, but when Dojun returned holding something, they gasped.
He was carrying a torch.
A torch?
He’s going to set the storage on fire?
That’d be stupid. They’ll all come running.
And Phantom would have nowhere to escape if there’s a fire.
While chat argued, Dojun slipped back into the storeroom.
He set the torch carefully on the ground, then picked several arrows from the rack on the wall.
He wrapped the arrowheads tightly with white cloth, then dipped them in cooking oil.
Wait… no way.
He’s going to set something outside on fire!
Soaked in oil, the cloth ignited easily, and the arrow tips blazed to life.
He prepared three flaming arrows.
When he was ready, he eased the door open just enough for the arrows to fly through.
Perfect — the main hall is empty right now.
With the door ajar, he could clearly see his target.
If he lined up the angle, the arrows would fly straight into the hall.
But he couldn’t just shoot blindly.
I need all three to look away at the same time.
Holding his breath, he watched their movements with razor focus.
He needed only a momentary lapse.
Now!
As their gazes drifted away from the hall, Dojun released all three flaming arrows in quick succession.
Swoosh. Swoosh. Swoosh.
Each arrow embedded itself in a different corner of the hall, and soon, small flames began to spread — carefully placed where they were hard to notice at first glance.
How did he pull that off without getting caught?
That newbie’s luck is insane, lol.
Luck? Get real — you’d never hit that if you tried.
Moments later, one of the three men started sniffing suspiciously.
“Hey… do you smell something burning?”
“My heart’s burning with passion— wait, what the hell?! The hall’s on fire!”
“Quick, get water! If Rahel finds out, we’re dead!”
The three of them scrambled out of the kitchen toward the hall, and Dojun seized the chance, slipping silently into the kitchen.
It wasn’t safe — but as long as they were fixated on the fire, he could move freely and map the place.
Kitchen. Main hall. Storeroom. And Rahel must be upstairs. No more enemies on the first floor.
With the situation clear, Dojun made his decision.
I’ll eliminate these three first, then go straight for Rahel.
He crept up behind the first cultist, dagger flashing as it slid silently into the man’s neck.
The man dropped to the floor without a sound.
[You have slain ‘Pyle’, a demon cultist.]
Thud!
The second cultist barely registered his ally collapsing before Dojun was already on him, a second dagger strike finishing him instantly.
[You have slain ‘Kerbuk’, a demon cultist.]
[Ding~ Level up!]
Ignoring the level-up notification, Dojun advanced on the last one.
The man gawked, panicking as he realized what was happening.
“Wh-who are you?!”
“Wh-who are you?!” Dojun echoed.
The cultist blinked in confusion.
Dojun mimicked him perfectly, matching his words and intonation.
“Who are you?!”
“Who are you?!”
“Stop copying me!”
“Stop copying me!”
As Dojun continued repeating his words, his voice shifted — transforming to match the cultist’s exactly.
Viewers watching the stream shivered.
Is Phantom… copying his voice live?
He sounds exactly the same.
Holy crap!!
A few repetitions later, Dojun’s voice was an identical match — his unique skill: Another Voice.
In his past life, Phantom developed it to mimic voices for infiltration and deception.
Normally, he’d have to torture enemies to learn their identities.
But in this game, killing them revealed their names instantly — saving precious time.
Dojun lunged and slit the last man’s throat.
[You have slain ‘Shang’, a demon cultist.]
“This should be convincing enough,” he muttered, his voice now perfectly mimicking Shang’s.
What the heck??
That was creepy as hell…
It’s like watching a ninja movie — stab, stab, stab, and they’re all gone.
He wanted to engage more with chat, but there was no time — the situation was escalating.
[Warning: Your health is dropping rapidly. Risk of suffocation. Change locations immediately.]
The fire was spreading fast, but Dojun had no intention of putting it out.
He needed Rahel — but going upstairs through the thick smoke was suicide.
I’ll deal with them one by one as they come down.
He dragged the three corpses into a spot where anyone coming down the stairs would see them instantly.
When he was ready, he climbed partway up the stairs and yelled:
“Fire on the first floor! Help us!!”
He used Shang’s voice flawlessly.
That’s an exact match, lol.
They’ll definitely fall for this.
Doors slammed open above.
“What’s going on?! There’s smoke everywhere!”
Dojun listened intently — someone was rushing down the stairs.
He hugged the wall beside the staircase, hidden from view.
Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.
A robed cultist appeared, looking frantically around — only to freeze in horror at the sight of three dead comrades and the raging fire.
They’ll panic. And when they panic, they can’t react.
Dojun stepped out and rammed his dagger into the cultist’s neck.
[You have slain ‘Turple’, a demon cultist.]
He tossed the body onto the pile.
Three more coming. Two close together, one lagging behind — moving slowly, probably Rahel.
He counted footsteps, analyzed their pace, and slipped back into hiding.
Two robed figures emerged, hesitating as they took in the carnage.
In that moment of shock, Dojun struck the one furthest back first.
[You have slain ‘Rados’, a demon cultist.]
“Hrk!”
The other turned, wide-eyed, but Dojun’s blade found its mark before he could react.
[You have slain ‘Okeng’, a demon cultist.]
Holy crap, that was like a spy movie.
He’s like an assassin, not wasting a single move.
So efficient, it’s scary.
But Dojun didn’t let his guard down for a second.
“I’m heading straight for Rahel now.”
To prepare for any surprises, he decided to boost his stats.
The fights so far — against the orc warrior and these cultists — had earned him two extra levels, putting him at level 5.
He didn’t plan to waste points on skills yet.
Instead, he focused on attributes.
“Allocate one point to Strength, three to Agility,” he commanded.
With his stats set, he headed upstairs — but he wasn’t going as himself.
He wore one of the fallen cultists’ robes for disguise.
Halfway up, he ran straight into someone coming down.
Even at a glance, this person radiated a completely different aura than the others.
That’s Rahel.
He couldn’t give her time to process the situation.
Using Shang’s voice, he blurted out:
“Ra-Rahel! We’re under attack! Someone set the first floor on fire, and some of our followers were killed in the fight!”
“What?!”
Rahel rushed past him, shoving him aside in her haste to see the chaos for herself.
As they passed each other, Dojun’s dagger flashed from his robe, slicing across Rahel’s throat with deadly precision.
“Wh-what is this…?” Rahel gasped, staring at Dojun with a look of utter disbelief as her body crumpled.
He watched impassively.
“I’m the intruder, Rahel,” he said flatly.
